Best Beachfront House in Sayulita: Hacienda right on the sand!
About this house rental
Set amid palm trees at the edge of a white sand beach flecked with gold, stands a gracious Mexican villa with a broad shaded veranda, offering an unobstructed view of the warm Pacific Ocean only steps away. This grand hacienda is private and peaceful, within walking distance of the center of the charming village of Sayulita. Complete with housekeeper at no additional charge and the option of having a private cook prepare meals at your request for a nominal fee, this is the perfect vacation home for a luxurious but uncomplicated beachside holiday. The villa consists of a main house with 2 master bedrooms, a living room (which can be configured as a 5th bedroom), a dining room and a large fully equipped kitchen, plus a separate 'casita', or guest house, just a few steps across the small courtyard, consisting of 2 non-connected bedrooms. The waves are often gentle enough for leisurely swims right in front of the villa, because of the smooth sandy bottom in our choice location. However, because on other parts of the beach, the ocean bottom changes to cobblestones, we are fortunate to have within sight of the house, two surf breaks that have some of the best and most consistently ride able waves along Mexico's Pacific Gold Coast. Down the beach, about 7 houses south of our villa, is the fast and exciting, left hand surf break. The more forgiving and fun, right hand break, which was the site of the Mexican National Surf Contest, is only a short stroll beyond that. Sayulita is becoming internationally known as an excellent spot for the experienced surfer as well as an ideal place for those eager to learn. MASTER BEDROOM #1 features a king-sized bed with a carved stone headboard, an exceptionally spacious bathroom and a fabulous view of the ocean including the surf break. There is built in Air Conditioning in all 4 bedrooms, including this one. MASTER BEDROOM #2 is even bigger than Master #1. It has its own private entrance, private bathroom and also has the option of being connected by a common door to Master Bedroom #1. It is spacious enough to easily accommodate a king sized bed and two other single beds. It can alternately be provided with 4 single beds. It is light and airy and like all the bedrooms, it has a fabulous view of the ocean. Like all 4 of the bedrooms, Master Bedroom #2 has built in Air Conditioning. The HIDEAWAY BEDROOM has its own separate entrance, and it normally comes with two single beds which can be configured as a king if requested. It also has a toilet in an alcove of the room behind a shell curtain and a hot water sink “ensuite”. Its window provides a view of the ocean, shaded by mature tropical trees. Because of its situation, this room is ideal for teenagers or others seeking privacy. This bedroom has it's own individually controlled Air conditioning. The upstairs EAGLES NEST BEDROOM was originally designed as an artists’ studio by the owners. It is accessed by an outdoor stairway covered with hand painted Mexican tiles. The Eagles Nest has unmatched views of the ocean and jungle as it is the only bedroom which has some windows facing in all 4 directions. This spacious, light filled, room comes furnished with a king sized bed to provide a very romantic and very private nest with a sweeping view of the beach and jungle below. The room is ample enough that, as an alternative, it can easily accommodate a king and 2 single beds or 4 single beds if arrangements are made in advance. This art studio/bedroom now contains its own brand new bathroom, with toilet, shower, glass sink and granite countertop. All bedrooms have ceiling fans, plus all 4 bedrooms also have their own, built in, individually controlled Air Conditioning. BEDROOM #5: Because the spacious living room is a mirror image of Master Bedroom #1, and it too has an exceptionally large bathroom of it’s own, it can be used as 5th Bedroom, with single beds or a king bed, if specifically requested. Unlike the 4 other bedrooms the Sala does not have air conditioning other than the sea breeze gently flowing though it. Fortunately air conditioning is rarely needed during the high season months in any of the bedrooms. Guests generally use the broad shaded veranda as their living room and dining room, because the weather is usually so inviting that everyone wants to spend as much time as possible on the veranda with the beach spread out before them only steps away. In summary: We are right on the beach, close enough to easily stroll into the center of town yet just far enough to be private quiet and peaceful. We can see both surf breaks from the house and easily walk right to them. We are on the desirable north side of Sayulita, but we don't need to climb any hills and we are still so close to the restaurants and shops and surf breaks, that we don't need to get in car to easily participate in everything the town has to offer. There are many great restaurants in Sayulita and we have a large, fully equipped kitchen, so sometimes we take advantage of the fact that we can hire our sweet and trusted housekeeper Delia to cook us an authentic Mexican meal for a very reasonable price. I am confident that everyone in your group will be delighted if you get to stay at what renters keep telling us is the best beachfront house in Sayulita

The location is as incredible as it looks in pictures. It is a wonderful beach front house with loads of charm. It is very rustic, but the drama of the setting is what one really comes for as it looks almost like a film set - very beautiful. Delia, the housekeeper cooked for us every night (extra fee) and it was fantastic. We were a family with grown up children so the layout worked well for us, however it may not suit families with young children as two bedrooms have their own separate entrances. We visited for 9 nights in August and it was very warm and a bit wet but I can imagine the rest of the year it would be heaven.

Beautiful home at the perfect location
Three families stayed here with teenage boys. The house is beautiful! There were things that could have been cleaner, but overall a great home on a perfect beach location.

We booked Casa Aguila to house our Groomsmen and their partners in early May this year.
It was the perfect venue for our bridal party to stay. It is very spacious and the fittings go perfectly with the rustic feel. Our friends and family all got nice villas for the week but Casa Aguila was most people's favourite.
Delia the housemaid comes almost every day and does a great job. The house is kept very clean.
We came just after the new sewage plant came into operation and no-one in our party of 80+ was sick, and honestly we were not careful at all.
Thanks for having us Richard hopefully we will be back again soon.

Richard,
Just a note of appreciation for allowing our group of family and friends to enjoy a wonderful week at your beautiful Casa Aguila. If there is a nicer place in Sayulita, we never saw it.
The location is absolutely perfect. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the beaches closer to town to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the sun, sand and surf we were looking for, yet close enough to be able to easily enjoy all of the wonderful dining and exploring experiences Sayulita has to offer.
You and your family are so fortunate to have discovered what we all regarded as the perfect location. Our experience was seamless from beginning to end. The house itself is so spacious and inviting. We were just able to relax and enjoy each other’s company for a wonderful vacation.
Special thanks to Delia who could not have been nicer. She handily took care of anything which required attention. The few meals she prepared were delicious. Your instructions were voluminous, but were also spot on and much appreciated.
It is nice to be back again in Santa Barbara, but we will always fondly share together the memories of our special time at Casa Aguila.
In a word ‘Gracias’.

First the good...great oceanfront location, just outside of the crowds but walking distance to the town and surf break. The house is large with ample space for our party of 8 to spread out. Fresh water is provided, and all bedrooms have air conditioners. There is a large covered patio with comfortable furniture, and a cobblestone yard to sit in the sun and watch the beach activities below. Now the bad...the accommodations are rough and not to the standards we expected for high season price. Beds and bedding were old and inconsistent, more what you might get in a moderately priced motel, far from “heavenly”. The house is dusty, with lots of ledges and chandeliers with dust and cobwebs. Floors are swept regularly, but anything above 5 feet hasn’t been touched in a long time. Appliances and kitchen supplies are old (30 years?) and limited (no sharp knives) making any food prep a challenge. Showers are barely more than a trickle and hot water is in short supply, when available, making for a less than satisfying experience. The WiFi was not working for half the trip which was frustrating, but to the owners credit, he did his best to fix it. Sayulita is wonderful, and this is an ‘A’ location, and has a lot of potential, but If this were a hotel, and we hadn’t paid upfront, we would have checked out and found something more comfortable.

We had a lovely time at this place. The location could not be better. Right on the water. Not too close and not too far from town. Easily sleeps 10 people. A/C in all bedrooms.
It's an older house with lots of charm and antiques. We had issues with the Wifi and hot water, but the owner got them fixed when we asked.

Sayulita took us by surprise. We knew we were going to be close to town, in terms of distance but we were not expecting to slowly let ourselves be totally seduced. The house has a personal and authentic charm, easy to hang out on the porch and read, or enjoy the view of the waves. This town is as easy going as it gets, friendly and makes you want to stay longer.. We surfed, paddle boarded and swam in the warm waters without any currents or worries, it was the best way to relax and enjoy our vacation.

The pictures of the house, Casa Aguila, on line is what caught my eye to book this beachfront home for our family vacation... Once we arrived the views and property were even MORE breath taking and our family thoroughly enjoyed this home & location.. We are an active beach/surf family and this place did not disappoint; steps from the beach, a simple walk into town and plenty of breath taking views right from the front veranda... Our time was literally split between on the beach, on the front veranda and a little time inside to sleep and cook, but even then all had views of the ocean.... It was SO relaxing and an enjoyable week, we will definitely be back!!!
Its the perfect vacation house for the true beach/ocean lover. The food in town was awesome, local fresh fish, pleasant local people and loads of beach to explore both ways, north or south.. We paddle boarded daily, surfed and just played in the ocean constantly.. Once we had had enough sun it was only a few steps up to the shaded veranda where you still didn't have to miss out on the views or sounds of the ocean.. Summed up, it was paradise for us!! :)

If I could say it in pictures, words could not compare. I can easily and confidently say that this house was the best option we could've ever chosen to stay while in Sayulita. We wanted a surfing town, this house is literally on the sand. We wanted a house with a homey feel, this house has that in spades. We wanted a place were our group of friends could join us without feeling cramped, we were never wanting for space. Our favorite time though was time we shared in the most amazing part of the house, the veranda. Truly a special place.
On the logistics side, if you've never been to Sayulita, as we never had, Richard is really awesome to work with. He detailed all the important stuff for us ahead of time. I was able to print out every bit of info we needed and it proved very helpful for all of us. We felt very taken care of the entire time.
If you are beach people, this is the place to stay, hands down. If you want to be close to everything yet not in the middle of it, this is your house. Who needs an infinity pool on your deck when you have an infinity ocean in your front yard!
Richard, Thanks again for your exceptional customer service before, during and after our trip.

Simply Amazing!!
We simply cannot say enough about how perfect this house is. The location is stunning and the house is in excellent condition. We hosted our wedding at the Casa and could not have been happier.
Richard is excellent to deal with. He sends you timely and incredibly detailed information on the property. We had an issue with an Air Conditioner during our stay and within an hour he had organized repair people to check it out and have it fixed immediately. He truly goes above and beyond for his tenants. Delia the housekeeper is a gem. She prepared our wedding meal for us and could not have been happier.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Richard for such a wonderful stay. My in-laws are celebrating their 40th Anniversary next year and want to go back and stay at this beautiful property with their adult children. I would recommend Casa Aguila to anyone!!

Fabulous house on the beach
Richard - We had a lovely stay at your place in Sayulita! Thank you so much for the wonderful accommodations and for providing us all the information about the house and the town. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing at the house, spending time on the beach, and checking out the town. Looking forward to a future stay at your place!

Ideal spot in Sayulita
We spent a week at this house in Feb 2016 and had a wonderful vacation. Prior to the trip Richard did an excellent job of communicating regarding the house, arrival, etc.
Our flight arrived late, but thanks to Richard's instructions we were able to find the house and get in without a problem. The house itself is perfectly situated - walking distance to the action, but located in the quieter part of the beach. At night, all you hear is the sound of the waves. This proved key as friends of ours rented a house closer to town and had a lot of noise problems.
The house is very well equipped with everything you need. Tons of beach/bath towels, multiple washer/dryers, etc. Our only quibble is that the front door can be tricky to lock or unlock. It is a handmade door and just takes a few tries, but can be frustrating until you get the hang of it.
The only other thing worth noting is that the turn off to the street where the house is located is quite steep - it is easy to bottom out your rental car if you are not careful. Not a big deal, but just worth noting so that you don't damage your car.
I won't spend a ton of time repeating all the wonderful things other reviewers have already said. Suffice it to say this is a lovely beach home and you will not be disappointed!

Perfect family vacation
My family and I just returned from a wonderful week at Casa Aguila. The location of the house is perfect. The north beach is calmer and the sand is nicer compared to the main beach. The house is so close to the beach that we often didn't even bring towels down with us. This was perfect with our two young kids. Hard to beat the views from the porch any time of day. It was great to head back to the house mid day and escape the hot sun while still feeling like we were outside at the beach. We spent most nights on the porch as well. We used Antonio's car service to get from the airport to the house. Our driver was Hugo and he was courteous, friendly, and informative. He took us to a supermarket on the way to Sayulita. Once in town, we rented a golf cart and easily got around everywhere we wanted including Playa Los Muertos on the southern end of town. It was <10 minutes to get to downtown and we found wonderful restaurants on the north side of town near Casa Aguila thanks to Richard's recommendations. Richard is very responsive and a wealth of information regarding all things Sayulita. He was very easy to work with. The house is beautifully maintained and Delia the housekeeper is wonderful. We can't wait to be back to Sayulita again. We will definitely be returning to Casa Aguila.

We really enjoyed our stay in Sayulita and your beautiful home. Beach walks, surfing, massages by Marcello, and the incredible cooking by Delia were all fantastic. We enjoyed the style of your house and of course the great location and landscape. It was quite crowded starting Thursday, but, as you know being up the beach at your place really helped save us from much of the crowd. Thanks so much. Kind regards, Jim and Nancy

A very special spot
We've been missing Sayulita since the day we got back - this is a truly very special spot in town. Nothing beats doing yoga on the veranda facing the ocean!
This was our third trip to Sayulita and first at this property. We stayed for 10 days and found the location spectacular. We held our wedding ceremony on the beach in front of the hacienda and hosted the reception on the grounds. Our guests were raving about the venue, and it was relaxing to stay on premises before and after the big day.
Delia and her helpers were thoughful, helpful, and discreet. We felt well taken care of during our stay.

AN UNFORGETTABLE VACATION
Yes, Sayulita has changed a bit in the last 12 years but it still has a wonderful locals flavor. Your home was perfect for our family. As you said it is a lot easier, especially with two little ones, being right on the beach. Thank you for the beach towels! Delia prepared 3 meals for us which also made dinner time much easier, although I wish we could have tried a few more restaurants. Next time when the boys are older. We did eat at Don Pedro’s and Miro Vino – thank you for the recommendations. Our transportation to/from the airport with Antonio Garcia couldn’t have been easier – prompt and courteous. Also was great having a golf cart reserved to cart the young and old around town. We will recommend your home to anyone we hear is visiting Sayulita.
Thank you so much for helping us with an unforgettable family vacation. Becky

Spectacular
Good morning Richard,
I just wanted to send a quick mail off thanking you for renting your spectacular home to us! My family and friends felt like royalty :) Everything exceeded our imaginations and we are looking forward to returning.
There wasn't any problems here, everything works well, everyone was comfortable.
We followed some of your guidelines with the restaurants and that was very helpful. We loved chilis y margaritas and the lovely children (and Erik and his wife) that run it. Sad story but the have left behind some great kids. I hope the best for them. Your email laying everything out is so great, I appreciate you going that extra little for your guests.
So thank you again! Merry Christmas! I don't need to tell you but you have something special alright!

Best location on the beach in Sayulita...really!
We just returned after an epic 7 day stay at Richard's house. Upon arrival, our son got out of the car to go through the pedestrian gates to open the gates to the driveway. When he came through the gates, he had a smirk on his face and was just shaking his head. When the gates fully opened, everyone in the car started laughing and just saying "wow" over and over. The views were unbelievable!!
There are large wooden folding doors across the kitchen dining area that fold completely back to give you the this view inside the house. My favorite thing every morning was opening these while waiting for the coffee to brew; you truly felt you were in a special place once these were open.
When at the house, all of our time was spent on the huge covered patio. Plenty of room to spread out and read and tables for dining and playing games. The house itself, is an old style hacienda. Comfortable and simple; just like we like.
Walking to town is easy and Salyulita has everything you need so a car is not necessary unless you want to venture out of town.
The only caution I have is that the surf is not for small children or beginning swimmers but you can walk to the south end of the beach for that.

Incredible family vacation spot...priceless
Richard, I just want to give you a huge thank you for our time in Sayulita. Your house is incredible...really breathtakingly beautiful, both the house and the setting…elegant yet casual and relaxed, full of art that perfectly suits the hacienda. When we drove up, I would say the view took my breath away...the sea so close behind the magnificent tree...the endless open veranda (where we did spend most of our time). And walking through the house...a work of art...I loved every room, especially the master bedroom with the windows open on two sides...and the spacious bedroom on the end with the colorful little blankets on the children's beds. The upstairs room was amazing as well...open, airy, and lovely in its unique artistry…its own little retreat. We loved it all. The kitchen was perfect, so glad to have some plastic plates and drinking glasses!! We couldn't have been at a better location to be able to walk anywhere...along the beach or into town on the road...loved all the food and realized we didn't really need to do much cooking, as you had said. Even with the big waves, we enjoyed swimming right out front of the house...and loved being a little distance from the busiest beach. All of us agreed that we had the best spot in Sayulita!!!!
THANK YOU for allowing us to use your beautiful house, I am so grateful. You could well have turned down a group with so many small children. It seems almost a miracle to have found a house that so perfectly accommodated our family…from grandparents to a baby…fifteen people including seven children ages one through nine. It was perfect, with ample room and privacy for each family to have its own space. We are hoping to make a return trip to this charming, friendly town…and we wouldn’t want to stay anyplace other than your enchanting hacienda on the beach.
