Situated in Southwest Harbor, this charming house for $266 per night is a great option for your next vacation. During peak season the house is rented weekly only. Friday to Friday. Peak season being mid June to mid September. Newman Cottage is a three bedroom, one bath home located in Southwest Harbor Maine, on the “Quiet Side” of Mount Desert Island. This home is the perfect choice for the budget-minded traveler who does not wish to sacrifice comfort over expense. The kitchen is fully appliance and is adjacent to the dining room, seating up to 8. The spacious living room allows for socializing or TV watching at the end of a busy day. The house sleeps six people, having two queens and two twins. All sheets and towels are provided. Newman Cottage holds a right of way to the Manset Shore. Just a short five minute walk to the beach. Seawall picnic area and Bass Harbor Lighthouse are just minutes away as well. Southwest Harbor has bike/kayak/boat rentals, sailing, golfing, shopping, restaurants, groceries, drug store, and playground. Easy access to several lakes, biking and hiking trails. Close to Acadia National Park Activities. Only 20 minutes from Bar Harbor. See Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond House, or Park Loop Road. Go whale watching, or take a ferry to Swan's Island or Islesford. Our property is NON-smoking. Our family of 5 (kids aged 10, 12, 13) loved our stay at this cottage. We spent days hiking then enjoyed having a big home to relax in each evening. Great outdoor area for the kids and closeby to plenty of activities and hikes. An easy drive to the other side of the island for more hikes. Great hosts, exceptional pricepoint for MDI. THANK YOU.

My family and I loved our stay in this little cottage. It had everything we needed for to get away for a few days. We found several great hikes nearby, and it was only half an hour over to all the popular hikes near Bar Harbor. We highly recommend the Ship Harbor hike nearby.

We loved this cozy gem on the “quiet side of the island”. It was very easy to get to all of the places we wanted to go and was quiet while being close enough to groceries, a museum, trails and restaurants. The home is older with a wonderful personality as it spoke to us with the floorboard and door squeaks. Each room had comfortable mattresses and a fan for the warmer nights. Each night we walked down to the shore to take in the sunset, a wonderful way to end the day. The owners were wonderful and helped us with an overnight package we needed. If you want to explore Acadia this is a perfect spot to stay.

The Newman Cottage was the perfect jump off place for our week adventures on Mount Desert. We hiked every day, sailed and swam. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed and the floor fans did a decent job cooling the house down. We loved our time here!

The location of the beautiful cottage is perfect for visiting Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, etc. The beauty is that it is on the quiet side of the island. It’s located near the water (about 6-9 minute walk) and many lobster pounds. The house is beautifully maintained with all appliances, cookware, and other miscellaneous equipment. We would love the opportunity to stay again.

Fantastic family atmosphere! This cozy cottage was exactly what we were hoping for. Our teens loved the gorgeous scenery hiking in Acadia, but couldn't wait to come back to the cottage after our adventures and even asked to just hang out there and play games the last afternoon. The owners went above and beyond to ensure a great visit, even helping us with car problems. They were quick to respond to communications and gave helpful information and advice. The kitchen was neat and tidy and well-stocked, and everything was clean. We loved the porch and the beach access and the pellet stove. Would absolutely stay again!

Property is well-appointed and comfortable in a quiet area near Seawall (great for nighttime stargazing). Cleanliness was excellent. The Wi-Fi password didn’t seem to work, but we really didn’t need to use it; T-mobile cell service was poor to nonexistent, but we could get some bars using Verizon. We would rent this property again for vacationing near Acadia; Bar Harbor is 25-30 minutes away, and park attractions were accessible. —Kitchen has a good set of pots, bowls and utensils for cooking, and dishes and glasses and mugs for dining. All in all, well run, clean, and a nice rental!

We loved staying here! Great location close to Acadia. We really enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. Southwest Harbor is the perfect little town. Close to a ton of trails too. We saw deer through the window every night. Kitchen was well equipped and the beds were all comfortable. We would love to stay here again.

We wanted for nothing, we had everything we needed and more. The owners thought of everything, we enjoyed playing cornhole, all of our questions were answered promptly. We had more than enough room for our family and friends. We were close to everything we wanted to do but not to close. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Spent a long weekend at this fabulous property. Very clean and well-maintained, it was everything we were looking for. Not far from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, set on a quiet road, this is the perfect place to relax and get a good night’s sleep after a full day. We even had a deer visit us in the yard. Can’t wait to go back. Don’t hesitate to book this gem - you won’t regret it!

House was perfect for our small group - an adult and two 17 year olds. After being together hiking all day it was nice to have our separate spaces. House was just as described. Well equipped, clean, and clear instructions on usage of t.v.s and pellet stove. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you!

There were many nice things about this property. It was an older home, but well cared for. We had a problem with Netflix sign-in and they really couldn't help us. Location is good as long as you understand it is on the Southeast Harbor side, not the main Acadia National Park side. But we enjoyed the sights of that area, especially Ships Harbor hike, and also Charlotte's Lobster Pound, within walking distance!
