The stay at Nanten-en was nothing short of spectacular. The meals were special and exquisite, each dish and course was prepared with utmost care and thought that went behind it, in all I had some of the most amazing kaiseki experience for every meal served. Service was top-notch and the polite staff go to great lengths to ensure that my stay was comfortable and well-taken care of. Every need was met and I had no worries communicating with the staff whom had a good command of English. They checked in on me regularly and I was constantly met with some of the warmest hospitality I have experienced. The place had a tranquil vibe and was adorned with traditional decorations that reflected the deep Japanese culture, the rooms were meticulously cleaned and the facilities well-maintained. Special mention to Gary who guided me onto some hiking trips to the backyard mountains, which was the highlight of my entire trip to Japan. The picturesque views from the summits and breathtaking sights along the way was something that I never imagined I would have had the pleasure to witness, and the entire hike was just unforgettable. Hearing him share in detail about his experiences and joy in hiking really enthralled me and I am deeply grateful for the beautiful unforgettable memories I made up in the mountains of Kawachinagano.

This ryokan catered for my vegan diet and the food was tasty and interesting!

The employees are very nice and the dinner and breakfast course are very delicious. Also the atmosphere is very superb.

I heard footsteps outside my room along the night that it made me difficult to sleep.

I LOVED everything, the pool, the room, the service, the food, the bedding, the silence for sleeping. I really want to be able to go back again, it's very hard to find such a nice spot for such a nice summer experience, the pool feels very relaxed, the all day yukata policy makes it feel like a home.

That I couldn't have a beer next to the pool 😉
