Location next to the beach!
Bungalow was a couple of meters of a noisy road... Don't understand why they gave us the worst place in that respect... We booked months beforehand. The explanation we got was that Booking.com decided what bungalow we got... strange explanation that is difficult to believe.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel, and the staff made it even better with their helpful and friendly service. I must give a special shout-out to Gabriel, who went above and beyond to suggest activities and dining options for us with a smile always on his face. The breakfast provided was not only delicious but also very generous in portion size. While the property was surrounded by nature, which is what I was looking for, it wasn't exactly what I expected as I couldn't walk and enjoy the surroundings as much as I wanted. Despite that, I would still recommend this hotel as a great place to stay in Playa Cocles, with its proximity to the beach and many dining options.

The only slight issue was shower had almost no water pressure.

Great private bungalows with wildlife visible in the grounds. Right across from a great beach bar with super food and space to chill in hammocks. Breakfast in the hotel was also great.
Had a problem with our room initially and the staff moved us to a bigger bungalow and provided free breakfast. V quick to rectify the problem which was great

It was incredible to stay right in the middle of the jungle! It was amazing to hear the sounds of the jungle at night and open our windows in the morning to see hummingbirds and agoutis.
The windows had insect screens and each bed had mosquito nets to protect you from unwanted guests!
The whole place was really clean and inviting.
For the price paid, I would have liked the stay to include breakfast.

The bungalows are set beautifully within the jungle - like being on safari in the Costa Rican rainforest. Our family loved the mosquito net covered beds and overall experience in a tropical sanctuary cabin. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the location was great - walking distance to Playa Cocles and far enough outside of Puerto Viejo to be quiet and peaceful. Outdoor showers were available for rinsing off after swimming or surfing at the beach. Be careful as the waves can be quite powerful at times!
I would have preferred to have more pillows for the beds. Each bed had one very small pillow per person.

the location is beautifully located in the rain forest, the houses are typical Caribbean style
The houses are not insect-proof. we found 5 and more cockroaches in our room the first night (5 is the maximum I counted before running away because too scared). The staff first said they would buy some insecticide but never went. Finally, after my second complaint they changed our room, but we were too scared and changed hotel. it’s a pity because the location is very nice and looks very “authentic” ( in the night you could hear all the sounds of the jungle). Maybe authentic wildlife experience may come with a price (according to the owner cockroaches were coming inside to escape the rain), however I think for the price they charge they should make sure this doesn’t happen and curate more the vegetation all around or make sure doors/windows can be closed for the less “wild” of us. while I loved to see sloths all around (also in the clean hotel we picked afterwards) I didn’t love the idea of sleeping covered by insects. You can still enjoy the authentic rainforest and Caribbean experience in much cleaner and nicer Botique hotels in the same area. I appreciated the owner partially refunded us even if he didn’t manage to re-sell the room, however he never really apologized. I hope they fix the issue and slightly ameliorate the experience.

The bungalow was really confortable, surrounded by nature and animals... Amazing experience, and best breakfast we had so far in Costa Rica! Still dreaming about the pancakes...
The water jet from the shower is weak, also we rented bikes and one was broken.

The location is close to the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful
It is open in the middle of a swamp with some spiders and cockroaches.
The rooms are dark and we didn't feel comfortable. We heard other tourist complain about cockroaches as well. The breakfast was acceptable. Too expensive for this Kind of accomodation. We would prefer a tent.

It was quiet and had a very good overall location. The staff was very nice and the bungaloo was totally what we requiered during our stay
A pool would have been nice

It is close to town and good restaurants it is set back off the road so it is quiet but still close enough that you can easily walk out to the road and across the street is a public beach. It is well kept and shady. you have deck chairs a hammock and table on the decks.
there isn’t much of a view. At present Covid protocol or for whatever reason there is not much going on in the beautiful bar restaurant. They only serve breakfast and it costs $8 each nothing special. The staff is friendly but not overly helpful.

Everything was very nice and comfy! The Bangalow is just amazing, it feels like I was sleeping in the middle of the jungle. Be ready to be surround a lot of birds, monkeys and other noises. Very big and delicious breakfast.

should have a coffeemaker and a small fridge

Great bungalows in the rainforest, yet almost on the beach and not far from Puerto Viejo. Super friendly staff. Excellent breakfasts. Comfy cabins smartly fitted with many windows so you don't really need A/C.
A fridge in the cabin would be nice but the bartenders made it up by letting us store our stuff in their fridge. Some road noise, not too bad.

Loved the spacious and pretty rooms, with the swing, the wood table outside. A 5 bed room is an incredible option that is almost imposible to find in Puerto Viejo so if you’re a big family, definitely head to Costa de Papito! They even had 2 showers in the bathroom!!!
Breakfast was delicious, incredible location and rooms are surrounded by a lot of nature!
I traveled with my grandma, and I think it is important to mention that the bathroom is kind of “downstairs” the room, so it can become a bit complicated for elderly people to reach the bathroom. Pillows aren’t confortable at all, but they get the job done.
It would be awesome if breakfast could be included in the room price.

The bungalow was amazing, the woodwork was so stylish and plenty of windows for air. The bed really comfy. The restaurant was very authentic and breakfast reduced price. The staff all so friendly and helpful. Just across the road from the beach and really nice 10 minute cycle into town.
Cannot speak highly enough of this hotel and Puerto Viejo, will definitely return thank you so much.

The lady at desk was kind
It REALLY needs some attention and upgrades. I stayed in cabin number five - I don’t know if they are all different- mine was no bueno. I have stayed in much nicer places in PV for less money. There were literally holes in the walls were bugs could get in -the bathroom did not even have a towel hook. I know how much they pay employees in Costa Rica and I know what I paid to stay there and they need to do some upgrades if they’re going to charge that much. No restaurant and no kitchen… You’re at the mercy of the bar across the street. Will not be staying here and will let others know as well. Stay elsewhere

THis is the coolest place that we stayed in while in costa rica. The bungalo was amazing, the staff was incredible. The breakfast (custom omlets to request) perfect~ We rented bikes - which was so fun. They had a dinner wth live music that we could hear from our bungalo that set the mood perfectally. Cute cats, sloth in tree, close to town (a bike ride is perfect - little long to walk). Close to attractions. Loved it!
Our bungalo (#7) was just opposite an exterior wall - a little loud with traffic at times.

Good service and breakfast. Nice and Spacious wooden bungalow with fans over each bed. Original cave style bathroom. Cocles beach is just the other side of the road.
Though light, the road could be heard from our bungalow.
