We enjoyed the cozy apartment. The decor was super cute with plenty of alpacas! We loved all of the animals on the farm and we loved that we could bring our dogs along. We didn’t get to go hiking due to high winds and ice but we enjoyed scenic drives and relaxation at the apartment.

This is a great place especially for children to see lots of animals and learn about small farm life.

My husband and I stayed here over Christmas while visiting family in my hometown. We brought our two dogs and enjoyed every minute of our trip. It was like staying at our home away from home. This place is great for all ages and definitely for animal lovers. A hidden gem in Broadway, Virginia!

Extremely cozy space. Loved watching the animals and hiking/hanging out in the area. Even when it was snowing and the roads were too icy to go out, we had a great time just hanging at the getaway. Would absolutely visit again!

Everything was very clean and the apartment was cozy and comfortable. My family and I had a great time. It was quiet but close to the nearest town and lots of things to see and do. My son loved the animals. Would definitely recommend this for couples or families!

We stayed for 2 nights. It was really cold when we got there and the apartmet was freezing. Once we had the heaters going it was comfortable. The fire pit was cozy and the kids had a good time making smores. We all enjoyed seeing the animals and walking the grounds. It was a quick drive to nearby attractions such as the Luray Zoo and Luray Caverns. We went out to eat for my husbands birthday at a local Mexican restaurant and had a good time. We are keeping this one on our short list.

Awesome hidden getaway at a convenient location if you’re exploring the Shenandoah NP area. Felt awesome meeting Wilbur, Ranger and others!

Valerie and Brad's place was so beautiful, cozy and relaxing. We went to have a night away from the city for my husband's birthday and it exceeded our expectations. Our family (especially our 2 year old) fell in love with the property and all of the animals! There was a farm of animals and the Christmas decor was such a special touch. The host were so personable and really welcomed us to their home. They even shared some of their eggs with us for breakfast:). We felt totally relaxed after our stay and hope to return again in the near future. Don't hesitate to book your stay here!

Retreat from the big city. Chillax and enjoy the animals around us, feed the horses, see the stars (amazing!) and wander around nearby downtowns. Enjoyed a game of horseshoes and just sitting by the pond chatting. Nice way to slow down. Valerie and Brad are great hosts who love to teach about their animals. And Wilbur the host cat is just as welcoming and friendly as can be. Loved every minute we spent there!

One of our favorite places to go! Valerie, Brad and all of their animals are just the best :-) Thank you again for a magical stay.

I have no idea where to start with how wonderful this place is. It’s truly magical. The hosts are amazing and leave you be unless you want to talk (and I did)- I learned SO much about the animals they have there and got to pet an adorable alpaca named Jude, a sheep, a horse and watch all the other animals running around.
The place is much more roomy than the pictures let on (my husband is 5’11”, I’m 5’9” and we aren’t small) and we had plenty of space without bumping into each other. It’s clean, away from the city (but a short drive away and you have lots of activity). It’s perfect for a getaway to stay in and be cozy or explore all there is to offer nearby.
We are already thinking of when we can go back! It was a dream to be there!

I booked Gabe’s Getaway as a birthday/anniversary gift for my husband and it did not disappoint. We had so much fun seeing the animals. It was such a cute space and we really enjoyed being able to unwind. The location was great and we enjoyed a lot of great restaurants and the farmers market in Harrisonburg. We would definitely love to come back and bring our girls to experience all of the animals.

Such a lovely property! Our son loved the animals and the entire space was beautiful. Lots of home-like touches that added comfort.

Great property, friendly owners and what fun it was to mingle with all those animals. Wilbur, the ambassador cat, greeted us immediately upon arrival and showed us into the very nice loft. It was very clean; the beds were comfortable and overall, just a real treat to be there.

This was our second year staying here for one night to break up travel from Maryland to Tennessee. Both years we’ve wished we could stay longer!! We love animals and the ones here are so entertaining and well-loved! The accommodations are cozy and restful, too. Thank you for having us!!

We enjoyed our stay here while visiting Shenandoah National Park. It’s a ways outside of town, but very quiet and peaceful. Thank you for the fresh eggs!

We had a fantastic time at Gabe's Getaway. We mainly came out looking for a place because we wanted to go to Cooter's Garage, Luray Caverns, and Skyline Dr. This was more than just a place to stay. We enjoyed the animals and all the amenities. Thank you so much!

We really enjoyed our stay. It is in a beautiful neighborhood and it was convenient when we wanted to go to Shenandoah National Park. The apartment is above a barn and the noise factor wasn’t that bad. There were a lot of flies in the apartment, but there are plenty of fly swatters to get rid of them. Walking on the grounds you got to see all of the animals which was always fun. The alpacas were our favorite, especially Jude who would let you give him some quick pets. Wilbur the cat definitely makes himself at home if he gets into the apartment.

Lovable Wilbur the cat greeted us, walked us to the above barn cabin, and hung out with us for an hour. From the deck you can watch the alpacas roam. So many other animals to see including horses, pigs, goats and chickens. If you bring children, I know they would love it. The cabin had whatever we might have needed during our stay. It was comfortable and adorably decorated. We enjoyed our short but sweet stay very much.

We really enjoyed our one night here. The little above the barn cabin was plenty big for my son and I with the sofa bed and double bed. The animals are adorable and fun to watch and listen to them making sounds. We plan to come back!

So nice and peaceful. In a really beautiful area. The animals were friendly and fun to watch. There is a little shop on site for souvenirs. Close to JMU, shopping, eating. Loved our stay and would do it again!

As represented, this property is a slice of Shenandoah Valley heaven. It is unique as a small farm, and yet minutes away from many activities. Communication from the homeowners was excellent with written information as well as friendly verbal outreach. Another get-away at this spot is planned for in the future!

Wish we could have stayed longer - the area was beautiful and the assortment of friendly animals was adorable! Very kind and knowledgeable hosts. Kids would love it, too. Lots of children's books, games and stuffed toys in the cabin.

Really cute getaway spot surrounded by all kinds of farm animals and fun things to do on the grounds: zip line, paddle boat, walks around, etc. The cabin is above the barn with one full bedroom and a queen futon. We had our oldest sleep on the futon and our youngest sleep on a small blow up on the floor. Of note if you have littles, there is only a shower, not a tub. The kitchen is more for breakfast/simple lunch than preparing full dinners, so I would recommend dinners out in Harrisonburg, and there are tons of delicious spots to eat out there, our favorite being Boboko, Bella Luna, and Cuban Burger. It was the perfect springboard for exploring the natural landscape around, including Riven Rock Park with a splashable river, and the Melrose Caverns only about 10 minutes away. The JMU Botanical Gardens were a lovely stroll, with the kids' garden being a huge hit with our kids. Lots of good coffee shops in Harrisonburg.
Gabe's Getaway was a really great, tucked away little spot, and you could tell how loved all of their animals are.

Brad and Valerie were so accommodating and kind. We loved our cozy apartment and spending time with the animals (especially the alpacas). Everything about this stay was stellar, and my girlfriend and I can’t wait to come back. If you’re looking for a place to stay, don’t hesitate to book Gabe’s Getaway. The only thing you’ll walk away disappointed about is having to leave!

My family and I stayed just for one night and we wish it could have been so much longer. The lodging over the barn was great. Perfect size and layout for the stay. Getting to socialize with the animals and then get up in the morning and feed them was such a pleasure, especially with our toddler. He couldn’t have been happier. My family and I plan on coming back when our second child is born and making it a much longer stay. Such a great time!

The kids loved the open spaces to run, the friendly animals, and especially the zip line on the property. This was a great value and is well maintained. Thanks Valerie!!

Our one night stay in the barn apartment was peaceful and private. The Alpacas (and their darling "moans") were absolutely precious and friendly, while the farm cats were our constant companions outside even while we spent the evening by the pond enjoying the firepit and lightning bugs. We enjoyed the eggs we collected for breakfast very much.
Inside the apartment was clean and kept comfortably cool by the a/c.

Our host was so sweet and this location is unique and truly wonderful. The animals are very entertaining, well-cared for, and were almost as excited to see us as we were to see them. We truly hope to come back.

We enjoyed our stay at Gabe’s Getaway and would recommend this for any animal lover! Val’s knowledge of the animals and her kindness to all of them was inspiring. She kindly allowed us to pick out eggs from the chicken coop to have for breakfast and gave us a tour of the farm.

Gabe’s Getaway is a great place for a happy, most joyful experience. My daughters were able to feed the animals and managed to get good photos of alpacas, horses, cats, bunnies, etc. The hosts were very welcoming, and made our stay very comfortable. Another great thing about Gabe’s Getaway is that it’s dogs friendly. Our pups loved the private land they were able to explore around in and all the animals they were exposed too! Overall, if you’re looking for a place to stay, Gabe’s Getaway is the perfect spot!

Our stay at Gabe's Getaway was fabulous. Valerie & Brad are gracious & accommodating hosts. The farm animals & cats are all friendly & interesting. They certainly add to the experience, as do the farm fresh eggs! We did a float trip on the Shenandoah, toured Luray Caverns & visited a number of wineries & cideries. Overall, it was an awesome trip. Long live Wilbur!

We stayed 2 nights after spending several nights inside Shenandoah National Park with our twin toddlers and I wish we could have stayed longer! The place itself is perfect! Had everything we could think of to need and was so cozy and home-like. My kids loved all the books and stuffed animals that were there and then wanted to see all of the animals every chance they got. There is so much attention to detail and we really loved our stay!
