fab location with lovely lovely hosts
as two female travellers we did find the room a bit unsecure as it only had old fashion bolt locks but i suppose that’s part of the charm of the building!

My favourite accommodation in Penang on my trip. The room was beautiful and cool with a cute courtyard and bathroom, was so nice to have a cool shower and sit to have a coffee. The breakfast was really good quality and Ruby at reception was so friendly and helpful. Great location too, 100% recommend.

Friendly staff, great location close in heart of old George Town close to Love Lane. Rooms have both fans and air conditioner. Enjoyed the outside shower of the ground floor rooms.
WiFi was patchy in room.

We really enjoyed our stay at Coffee Atelier. The staff were exceptional in greeting us, making us welcome and comfortable and were happy to accommodate all our requests from enquiries, booking taxi's to lending us adaptors. The hotel is heritage, traditional, comfortable and beautifully furnished in character, in the perfect location for the old town and added to our overall experience. We loved the space that a suite gives, and especially enjoyed relaxing in the courtyard with a cup of fresh coffee or tea. We really did not want to leave!

Coffee Atelier provided a great European style breakfast via the next door cafe. Loved the location, within Georgetown's UNESCO World Heritage Site and walking distance to many eateries namely Penang Little India and Love Lane where we celebrated New Year countdown.

We first stayed here some 10 years ago and I’m happy to say it’s still as wonderful today as it was then. Filled with an array of Chinese antique furniture it has the ambiance of a bygone age. I especially love the little courtyard garden with outdoor shower and toilet. The location is also wonderful set amidst the UNESCO world heritage site putting right into walking distance of its various distinct communities. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and a credit the business.
if I had one slight issue it would be breakfast, supplied by an adjoining cafe not owned by the Atelier it’s a bit limited in choice and quite meagre.

The property and the rooms have a lot of character and charm. We stayed in a sweet on the second floor; it was beautiful, cool, and clean. The bathroom was partially exposed to the outdoors (completely private) and it was quite tranquil. The property has been restored very nicely. The property is slightly out of the way of the main hubbub so it makes for a quiet night.

This little hotel is exactly what you want if you don’t want to stay in a non-descriptive, generic hotel - and why would you if you stay in Georgetown? I chose the second floor suite, but the first floor ones are just as nice. The ambiance reflects the heritage you see around you in Georgetown, so you’re totally emerged in the local cultural background while staying at this hotel. That also means you might not have the luxury of a corporate hotel, but for me that adds to the charm and I felt I stayed in a family home, while being totally private. For those who are physically challenged, go for the first floor, as the steps to the second one are (original) and thus narrow and a bit steep. The bathroom is basic but gives an outdoor feel, and the soaps are a delight. The bedroom oozed charm, the bed was great, the teas were amazing and the little windows look out onto the not-so busy street, a street that leads you to all kinds of other amazing streets and it’s close to the Blue mansion. The breakfast is straight forward but good, and there’s so much other food to have in town, you won’t go hungry. The ladies running the place were helpful and super kind.

Very nice historical hotel and excellent services!!
We really enjoyed our 4 nights stay in this hotel in Penang and would like to highlight the services : it’s really a luxury hotel level services ! We feel like being taken care of as friends more than guests and I would say the services make the almost one-hundred-years-old building- based hotel more brilliant. Very recommended!
