The stuff is amazing, the pool is beautifully located overlooking the beach, the restaurants have amazing food, the chiringuito at the beach is great, … I can’t say enough things about this place. A 10/10 choice in Cadiz
Nothing to say

Luxury hotel with exceptional staff and faultless service. Lovely ambience throughout. Classy clientele. Fantastic large pool area. Situated on beautiful Barrosa beach. Last year we stayed in a Level room, this year we decided against it as didn’t feel it warranted the extra money.
A little dated in places - bathrooms, corridors. Shower pressure not too good. Very touristy area, therefore no authentic Spanish restaurants within easy walking distance for evening meal. Fortunately we had a car so were able to drive places. Lovely Chirringuitos for lunches though along Barrosa beach (walkable). Our favourite was La Loma and also the hotel beach restaurant.

First of all, it’s a really nice hotel. The ambiance is calm and relaxing, the beach is just a minute away, the sunsets were beautiful.
But we are talking about a 5-star hotel so there are some expectations and comparisons as well.
1. English language is a huge problem here. Most of the staff didn’t understand the simplest sentences! I mean I don’t expect them to speak my native German, but at least basic English should be present at a 5 star hotel.
2. Mostly the service was quite friendly, I really tried to use my basic Spanish, but some waiters, for example the ones at the beach bar, couldn’t say or understand any word in English and were very unfriendly and impatient an d were talking Spanish like we wouldn’t exist until someone English speaking came. It felt very unpleasant. Guys, you gotta at least learn “you’re welcome”, “here you are”, “do you need anything else?”, “thank you”. I’m the guest at this hotel, but somehow I’m forced to use the translator and feel like I’m not welcome here.
3. Nespresso capsules and tea were never refilled. As we asked the staff, why, they told us we gotta call when it’s empty so that it’s refilled. So I should call every day? Obviously yes. Hmm..like I have nothing else to think about on my vacation?

The hotel was lovely, extremely clean and tidy and the staff were amazing.
I loved how you could just walk out straight onto the beach.
The food and drink was very expensive and unfortunately not great.
It was a bit too quiet for me, great for relaxing, but I would have liked some music by the pool and at the beach bar.

Breakfast was Amazing on the first morning .However, the second and third mornings they ran out of blueberries and strawberries. Not a big deal we are traveling through Spain for 20 days and this was our number 1 breakfast, next few days a bit of a let down. Last day breakfast in the Red level room was less impressive than the normal buffet breakfast. The maintenance of the facilities were stellar, everything was in order. The bed was so comfortable compared to the other 4 and 5 star hotels that we stayed in.
Because of the language barrier, we didn’t make reservations for the restaurant. However, the restaurant that we ate at had a limited menu. Fernando’s bar food was very good. Everything else was excellent.

The Gran Melia was beyond amazing. The breakfast buffet was spectacular with unlimited selections. The room was impeccable, the pool grounds breathtaking. The restaurant and lounge fantastic, food, drinks and service. We are telling our friends when they visit southern Spain to book the Gran Melia.
Nothing, they do everything perfect.

Everyone was so dedicated and professional. The service was excellent. The breakfast was delicious, the restaurant à la carte as well. Amazing stay, very friendly staff: receptionist, bellboys, restaurant management, waiters, housekeepers and from the direction Roland, who welcomed us when we arrived and was very attentive during our stay.
thank you so much for this wonderful time!
Once again, Gran Melia has over exceeded our expectations. Congratulations to you all!
Best,

Buffet in The Patio was very good. Staff were lovely. Beach was lovely as was the swimming pool.
Room was adequate. Bathroom was good. None of the amenities (water or bathroom shower gels etc) were replenished. This was not a 5* Premium room.

Excellent service and facilities; rooms are very comfortable and roomy. Pool and various seating areas are very attractive combined with the direct access to a wonderful beach
The evening buffet warm food quality could be better considering the price.

On the beach location. Internal patio for breakfast and drinks. Room size was good but we did book premium sea view room. Choice at breakfast was good. Reception and concierge were very attentive as were the guest relations office. Breakfast available until 11.00 which is good. Fabulous pool area with wheelchair facility to access pool.
Very limited cocktail list. Inconsistency in security for beach access to hotel (bigger advice notice required). Toiletry supplies varied from day to day, needed to ask for lack of certain obvious items. Smoked salmon should not be alongside cold hams, ciorizo etc! (fish allergy). Notice required at bread station reminding people to use wooden tongs as 50% of people ignored them and stuck their hands in the bread baskets due hygiene and especially covid. These items were brought to the attention of guest relations who were very receptive.

everything about this hotel is amazing…from the moment you check in until you check out, but the thing i liked the most is how helpful and friendly the staff is.
in the hotel description it show there is a kids zone and play ground, but when we arrived we were told it only opens during easter, also the kids pool need better cleaning.

Loved the location on the beach. Loved the large deep pool. Loved the private garden with our room.
Didn’t like the birds not only all around the patio tables but also flying into the dining room.
