Lovely cosy stable accomodation which is perfect for the Southern Highlands. The beds are comfortable, the bath and shower and great, and the provided breakfast was very welcome. The crowning glory is the gardens, with numerous beautiful spots to sit and read or have a cup of tea. Highly recommended.
We were grateful for the mosquito repellant

The breakfast provided was excellent, even fresh eggs in fridge. Lots of interesting paintings and photos and utensils of yesteryear. We felt like we had walked into another era, beautifully presented.
Even though I have a wood burner myself at home, I could not get the fire to stay alight, in spite of following the instructions provided.

Southdown Stable is a perfectly renovated old building that has been beautifully furnished inside. The heritage feel is very different to what we normally experience in modern suburbia. The gardens are superb.

Very close to Bowral’s main street, only a few minutes drive to restaurants clothing stores and grocery shops. The place is well equiped to suit different needs for the stay. Geothermal heating is definitely a plus. A great place if you love to stay somewhere historical, rustic and with a large well maintained garden.
The recent heavy rains and high humidity in NSW made the house quite moldy. The beddings felt quite damp from the weather on our first night. Also we sighted at least 5 millipedes in the main bedroom during the 2 nights we stayed - again, not sure if it’s related to the wet weather.

Breakfast was very disappointing and certainly poor. Half full small containers of muesli and cornflakes, eggs and bread, jam and butter, milk and watery orange juice from cartons. No frypan to cook scrambled eggs, no fruit, bacon or fresh food - options were eggs eggs or eggs on toast. Not the breakfast we expected when told we would get a breakfast basket and paid over $ 900 for 2 people for 2 nights
No heating on or fire - fireplace not set - we were told no fires allowed until April - simply not correct said our friends who live nearby.
Breakfast very disappointing.
Drove out through exit only to find a no exit sign blocking the road and had to back up along narrow access road and exit via entrance.
Site poorly marked from highway.
Trying to call re heating - no answer
Had to wait until next day to get it fixed.

We loved the location and gardens of this property and we had our own bedroom and bathrom.
Unfortunatley part of the appeal of this property was that it had a fireplace and we could not get it going successfully.
We are country girls who have indoor fire places and use everyday so it was not a matter of inexperience.
I had direct communication to the owner about this on the second day as we were keen to get it going and followed the fussy prompts with no avail.
The biggest disappointment was after being home for a week we had a $36 charge for wood usage which we were not aware there was a charge for - must of been fine fine print somewhere!

The beds are super comfy & the cottage was so welcoming. We loved the chickens coming up to the front door & wandering through the beautiful gardens. Bowral was a beautiful town and Fitzroy waterfall was definitely worth a visit.
