Nestled in North Captiva Island, this lovely house for $555 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. SMUGGLERS HIDEAWAY is a secluded 3 bedroom island home located on North Captiva Island. Nestled among palm trees, the home's tropical location and private pool and hot tub area makes for a one-of-a-kind island vacation. With sleeping up to 7 people in 3 bedrooms, the home can accommodate small families or even a few couples. The home is tastefully decorated, has coastal contemporary furnishings as well as a modern kitchen that was remodeled recently. The home also includes one 4 passenger golf cart. Smugglers Hideaway is located in close proximity to the Island Club at North Captiva where guests have access to the two swimming pools, hot tub, tennis courts, bicycles, kayaks and paddle boards. Beach access is less then 5 minutes away by golf cart NORTH CAPTIVA ISLAND is a private island accessible only by boat or private aircraft. The island is known for its uncrowded, natural white sand beaches with incredible shelling and wildlife viewing. Guests never tire of dolphin watching, in addition to viewing the manatees that regularly hang out in various locations around the island. Golpher tortoises freely roam the island and it's not unusual to see them crossing the road and holding up golf cart traffic for photos. Two thirds of North Captiva is a state wildlife preserve, while one-third is lightly developed with vacation homes. RESORT AMENITIES! In addition to the Island Club at North Captiva membership, Smugglers Hideaway has its own heated swimming pool, hot tub and pool-side games. Play ping pong and corn-hole while hanging out and grilling near the pool. If that's not enough, at Boats & Fun, in very close proximity to the house, guests can rent a boat, paddle boards, fishing gear and an additional golf cart. Currently, there are 3 restaurants to dine and 1 bar. Mangos is located within the Island Club at North Captiva complex, and serves food and liquor. Mangos also services the Club's 2 pools and hot tub (very casual). OTW (Over The Water), located within the Safety Harbor Club, is a BYOB restaurant open for lunch and dinner. Reservations for dinner recommended. Nick B's Pop-Up serves argentinian food and is open for breakfast and lunch. Nick B's also offers a fresh daily dinner menu and delivers to all vacation homes. 2 additional restaurants, Mainstay/Barnacles & Boathouse are closed due to Hurricane Ian damage. Neither restaurant has announced a date to reopen. AN ADVENTURE AWAITS! Your on-island property manager will assist with the logistics of traveling to an island and help make the experience as stress-free as possible. Your property manager will assist selecting ferry boat options to North Captiva and will greet you upon arrival and transport you, your luggage and groceries to the home (unless you requested the kitchen be pre-stocked--highly recommended!). Your property manager will also give you a private tour of the island and help familiarize you with the amenities and intricacies in the house, and will always be a phone call or text away during your stay. Had a wonderful week at Smugglers Hideaway. Clean, very comfortable, well appointed and would like to return. Hot tub was nice on the cooler days. Jenny greeted us and was very helpful with any questions we had and made sure we got back to the ferry on the day we departed.

The property was excellent and communication with the owner/property manager were easy and responsive. The house had everything we needed. The house was an easy walk to the club, but there was plenty at the house to keep kids occupied as well. We loved our stay.

Great place to relax with our family members. Six of us loved the warm pool, hot tub, house, and golf cart which allowed us to sightsee the island. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Saw dolphins. Kayaking was fun. This was a trip we will always cherish!

Home was spacious and fit our family of five. It had all of the amenities you want like a hot tub, pool, beach gear, and kitchen necessities. The property manager was helpful and communicative. I only rated it a 4 because there were a few minor inconveniences like the golf cart required constant charging to avoid getting stranded/steering was off, centipede or millipede clean up outside near pool was constant every morning and they get into the basement bedroom/hot tub, and the hot tub kept shorting out and required resetting 3-4 times. The property manager was helpful when we asked for their support with these issues. Overall, The island is beautiful and the perfect trip away.

We had the best vacation staying in this lovely home. Photos are absolutely accurate of what the house / property looks like. When staying on an island you have to expect the unexpected sometimes but the property manager Jennifer is so quick to respond and resolve. She made this trip super smooth and we were so grateful to have her just a call/text away. The pool is what makes this home when compared to others on the island!!!!

The house is as advertised. It’s pretty secluded from any other properties and makes you feel like you’re in the jungle. Scott was very communicative and the staff that worked for the property were always available and very friendly and knowledgeable. The only thing we would have liked is a first aid kit in the house. It wasn’t something we thought about until it was needed for a few of the family members. Other than that, had a great week and can’t wait to come back! It was very close to “downtown” and just a quick cart to the beach.

We loved our stay at Smugglers hideaway. Everything leading up to our stay was perfectly communicated and made information and access seamless. The house and property had everything we could need for our family of five. The kids loved the pool and the beach toys and outdoor games. Of course beautiful north captiva is always a pleasure to explore.

This was my family’s first time on the island!! It was the best most relaxing vacation we have ever had! The house was everything we needed. It was very clean and meet all of our expectations. The pool was great! The only thing I would say was the golf cart did not hold charge very long. But other than that it was the best!!!

Wonderful little property!
We stayed here with our family and it had all the things we could possibly need. The ONLY critique that we have is the location of the third bedroom is not really attached to the main household and is only accessible by going outside and downstairs by the pool. We had planned on using this room for our baby to sleep in her pack and play and the location of the room just made this very unrealistic for us. We ended up putting the pack and play in the master bedroom with us, and although it worked out fine we might have picked a different home had we known that the bedroom was almost completely separate. Other than that, everything wa WONDERFUL.

This property offered a private setting, a nice fenced in pool area and great location on this family friendly island. We loved the golf cart life, which made getting around the island easy and fun. We saw manatee and dolphins everyday of our visit. We enjoyed hiking in the preserve and found many sea shells. The water temp was a bit cold mid-February but by the end of the month was perfect. We enjoyed the restaurants on the island, our favorite was Barnacles. We used the kayaks, bikes and tennis equipment provided by the club. We kept busy and still had time to read a book and float in the pool. It was a memorable and fun vacation.

Awesome house in paradise
Arrival was a breeze and the property manager was extremely helpful. The house came with a golf cart which was convenient and we didn’t have to rent one. They house was clean, plenty of supplies in the house. The outside area was great as well. The house was excellent and will definitely be renting this house again!

Smugglers was a great property for our family of 5, the kids loved the pool the parents loved the hot tub and house was very nice had most everything we needed. We would definitely book this place again, if we had any complaints or feedback it would be the golf cart while did the job it is showing some age, the kitchen while stocked we found some items missing like pizza cutter and the knife set was in need of a sharpening or replacement could be an accident waiting to happen trying to do food prep and lastly my wife is a bit of a clean freak and even on vacation likes to tidy up we found cleaning supplies (broom, dust pan, rags....) lacking when there for 10 days we needed to clean and not just let it go until the time was over:). With that said we appreciate the owners sharing their little slice of heaven with us we had a great time and made some great memories with our kids!

HAD TO MOVE TO ANOTHER RENTAL
We rented Smugglers Hideaway for a week in July. We have rented numerous homes through the VRBO site and others. This was the first time we’ve ever had to leave our rental early and move to another rental managed by another company.
Cleanliness and Upkeep
The cleanliness and upkeep at this house was terrible. The kitchen was dirty and in disrepair. The backsplash was made of bowed wood covered in “stainless looking” laminate that was peeling off the wall, and the faucets and fixtures were rusty. The dishes were put away dirty with eggs and other debris. The washer and dryer were disgusting --filled with hair and lint-- and are located in the musty basement, but more on that later.) When we stripped out beds, there was a huge stain on the master bed mattresses, stains on the mattress pads, stains on the pillows, and a blanket that smelled so mildewed, it must have been folded and stored wet.
Air Conditioning
We didn’t expect the air conditioner to be unable to reach a set temperature of 72 even at night. The house gets unbearably hot during the day and never cools off to a comfortable sleeping temperature at night. The air conditioner hovered at around 77 throughout the house. The master bedroom was always 5-10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house. The downstairs bedroom off the pool was cool because it had a window unit and we would have used it since the master bedroom was so hot at night. However, the strong mold and mildew smell made it uninhabitable. We noticed dark stains that looked like mildew around the ceiling and what appeared to be a moisture problem.
Safety Concerns
All homes should have a smoke detector in each bedroom at a minimum. This rental had no smoke detectors anywhere even though the listing said it had them. We did see some old sprinkler heads that were all covered in paint and corrosion and certainly could not have been operable. We felt unsafe, particularly since we were traveling with our young daughter and all sleeping on the second floor.
Lack of Communication from Property Manager
We notified the management company by text (their preferred method of communication) that we were checking out of the rental on the second day of our one week stay. We never received any acknowledgement of our text. I guess that shouldn’t have been surprising since they seem to pick and choose which texts, emails, and phone messages to answer. We would not stay with this management company again.

Georgous House
We had a lot of fun staying at Smugglers Hideaway! The location of the house is great. The house is clean and decorated very well. Beds were comfortable. Pool was perfect. We had two families staying here. The kids had a lot of fun inside and outside the house. The third bedroom is detached from the house. It worked out great for our two groups. We will back! We have no complaints staying at Smugglers Hideaway! Thank your so much Scott! Your hous is awesome!
