FERN GULCH GETAWAY!.
About this house rental
Our “Getaway” is located in the midst of a glorious, lush Aspen, Spruce, and Ponderosa forest. There are several scenic hiking and biking trails in our area. The unit is a one bedroom, with a full bath and complete kitchen. This apartment is on the lower level of our home. It was built around the original 1920’s log cabin. There is a walk out back door to a patio. The patio also leads to a beautiful hike down the gulch to the creek. Our location is an easy one mile to main street Evergreen and it's shops and many fine restaurants. You are within 30 minutes of Denver, several mountain towns, as well as ski areas. Central City and Black Hawk are a short drive away. Our area is pet friendly, as Myron says, ' If they don’t have a dog when they move here they get one right away" . As you notice from the photos, there is wildlife around us, all the time. While, we know you will not approach the animals, you can certainly enjoy their antics with your camera. The birds love our home. Luckily some stay around all year. In the migratory time, we have grosbeaks, cross bills, as well as the spectacular Western Tanager. We welcome you and look forward to your visit. *** In our mountain area, the GPS often gives faulty directions. Please follow the directions Linda and Myron provide.

This place was comfortable and would definitely accommodate you for more than one night, with its well-equipped kitchen, kitchen table, living room area and bounty of books. We were there after a snowstorm in a rental "SUV", whose AWD was not performing well. That made it a bit hairy getting up to the house because the roads leading to the home were not fully plowed. The driveway is flat, so that was not a problem. We did see a deer and birds in the backyard, which was fun. We had the opportunity to meet and speak to the owner, who was delightful. The towels are super fluffy and the bed was comfortable. It was very quick to get to downtown Evergreen, which was nice. Overall, I recommend this place for sure! The price is just right.

Host were very nice! It was a short stay for me. All that I needed!

It was a great place to stay and very comfortable. I gave it 4 stars because there was 2 seconds of hot water and then it was freezing cold. My husband took a shower first and then I don’t like cold showers so I never took one.

This was a very nice place to stay. It’s intimate up on the mountain. It is clean organized and our host is very knowledgeable about the area. Saw a herd of elk while we were there walking across the road. It had every thing that you would want with ample space.this a nice place with wonderful hosts and the surrounding was absolutely beautiful. It’s so close to red rocks . As well as golden and the mining are and the fall foliage. JuSt go and stay here if you can get in.

Although I did not get to enjoy this place for long, it was perfect! I want to come back and kick back to relax! I am a sucker for anything old school. Everything felt like I was "home"! Thank you again for the fresh baked cookies!

This is beautiful property, a little quirky (in a good way) which reflects the owner's personal touch. The west facing patio is amazing, a great place for breakfast, coffee and bird watching. The owners were very helpful and answered all our pre-stay questions, provided great directions for the route to the place, and many great suggestions for restaurants and the Evergreen area. It was the perfect starting point for our stay which included Red Rocks and Mt. Evans. I would definitely go back.

The location and view were fantastic, although it was a little tricky to find in the dark. The rental was spacious and homey, but a couple issues were I never could find the coffee filters for the coffee pot and there was a musty smell in the kitchenette area. The owner was very nice and accommodating.

The setting is ridiculously and enjoyably remote. Just driving up and down to the property is worth it. The hosts are very friendly and responsive. The space is comfortable, not striving to be trendy. Everything you need. And the silence in the morning, until the birds start, and the "I'm in a treehouse" experience is awesome.

The hosts were incredibly nice and had great communication start to finish. Very nice little place to stay that provides a great experience for those who love nature.

Since we live in a big city on the east coast, this wooded property high on a mountain was a real treat for my husband and me. Linda was very welcoming. The apartment was spacious, but could have been cleaner and would have benefited from a closet and/or drawer space. Overall, a terrific place in the moutains to unwind and enjoy nature.

Very homey facilities. Nice, relaxing overlooking tree line and forests. Relaxing, just like a home in the mountains.

Amazing location with abundant wild life. Quiet community of Evergreen is a nice getaway from the more heavily traveled tourist areas of Breck and other higher altitude ski communities.

We enjoyed our short stay. Nice apartment. Sorry we showed up early. Hope we left early enough to make up for it. Happy Birthday Myron.

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and having the kitchen to cook some meals was a big plus. The location was wonderful -- just a few minutes from town but up a quiet winding road away from the more crowded areas. Sitting outside with a cup of coffee and a book, listening to the birds and wind chimes, was so peaceful. We especially enjoyed making our way down to the creek behind the house -- quite a workout getting there and back! This was our second vacation in Evergreen and we look forward to visiting again.

We enjoyed our cozy location. Everything was as expected. We prepared some meals in the kitchen but also enjoyed dinner in town. It was a perfect location for reading and relaxing during a cold, snowy weekend.

Our stay in Evergreen was perfect for us, our hostess Linda was so gracious and friendly. The “Getaway” was just what we need after 10 day road trip
In Colorado and New Mexico. And the location was close to Denver and the rest of our plans. At the same time it was just right for a private mountain retreat. I would return there in a minute and recommend a stay to others . Thank you for happy memories.

My husband and I booked a last minute stay for three nights, traveling without kiddos from Fayetteville to Evergreen. Linda & Myron’s home was just right, and our first time staying in someone’s basement apartment. ☺️ You are just a drive or bike ride down the hill to town! Local, clean, tidy, cozy. We had privacy to come and go, with the support of friendly and helpful homeowners!
We will definitely be back!! Missing the chipmunks. 🐿🐿🐿

We were greeted by Linda, the owner upon arrival. She gave us some information about the property and activities that we could do in/out of town. Her oatmeal cookies were delicious! Cute and charming property, we only wish we had more time there to explore, but we checked in late. Great place to stay if you are looking to escape.

What a splendid time we had in majestic and beautiful Evergreen, Colorado. Linda and Myron were so welcoming and lovely. A quaint and quiet retreat. Linda made the best cookies; so delicious I want the recipe. We are so thankful for our wonderful time we had to talk, hike and connect. There are so many delicious restaurants and fun things to do while surrounded by the most beautiful backdrop. Unless you have a 4WD, Make sure you follow the directions Linda gives you otherwise you are in for a bumpy ride.
