What an amazing and unique time we had! We spent 4 nights at this house, and it is more beautiful than in the pictures. We also got to know the owner, and he took us on a tour of the property which was great! The food was outstanding! Breakfast was ready each morning at whatever time we requested, and we had dinner cooked for us 3 of the 4 nights. Everything was fabulous! We drove into La Fortuna every day, and it is a hike but worth it to stay here!

This property is great for families. It's about 30 minutes from town and the road there for the last mile is unpaved and rocky but you don't need a 4WD. We were a party of 8 with kids aged 10, 12 and 15. The kids loved feeding the fish off the balcony in the morning. All of us looked forward to the breakfast that Miranda (who is the sweetest person ever) made for us each day. Miranda only speaks Spanish so one person in our group who speaks limited Spanish did most of the communicating, but if you put Google Translate on your phone you will do just fine. There were five options for breakfast and you pick one for the group the day before and let Miranda know what time you would like breakfast to be ready. We had pancakes (gluten free options available), waffles, eggs, bacon, chorizo, plantains, cheese, fresh fruits, tortilla espanola, oatmeal, rice and beans, squash and a different fresh fruit juice every day. Miranda will make dinner as well for $22/person. We did that one night, but the kids didn't eat very much so we opted to eat dinners out or cook at home. There is a market in town (Rosvil) where we picked up groceries. The house, like most of the places we visited does not have air conditioning. It was a little hot on the days when the rain didn't come so the only recommendation I would have is for there to be a box fan in every room to put next to the window. Overall we loved our stay at Casa Cielo!

This was the most beautiful home we have ever stayed in. The host is friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The woman who cooks is amazing; my 3 kids fell in love with her and still miss her, and she makes the most amazing breakfasts and dinners! The location is a bit remote, but very beautiful!

My friends and I were fortunate enough to spend 3 nights at Casa Cielo this past January. Prior to our arrival, Curt contacted me via WhatsApp and provided important information on the location of the house (must use Waze) and offered suggestions on things to do in the area. We were aware that the house is about a 30 min drive from downtown La Fortuna. Once we arrived at the house it felt like we were literally in the middle of the jungle! Since we were arriving late I had arranged to have the ladies prepare dinner for our group. The dinner was so delicious that we immediately requested to have Helen prepare dinner the following night as well. Breakfast is included with the rental. We were given a menu with several options to choose from for breakfast each day. I honestly cannot rave enough about the food! Ahhhmazing!!! I probably had the best sleep of my life that first night. Falling asleep to the sound of rain and sounds from the jungle … it’s one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had. The house was perfect for our group of 8. Curt is a wealth of knowledge about the area and helped us secure reliable drivers during our stay. We visited the Hanging Bridges, Arenal Volcano, and Tabacon Hot Springs. It was truly an incredible stay all around and I highly recommend Casa Cielo to anyone visiting the area.

Outstanding in every way! Wonderful hot breakfast every day served at times to suit our excursions. Property manager is SO informative, personable and helpful. We learned so much about Costa Rican ecology efforts! Swimming pool, deck seating, WiFi access, fish and wild life kept our four teens engaged and excited. Views are spectacular. Curt's recommendations became highlights of our visit.

I would totally recommend this location. Curt was a fabulous host. His employees took great care of us, I would go back just to have the ladies make me breakfast again. Wow! Beautiful, quiet, relaxing! It was more like high end hotel service than an vrbo.

Casa ceilo was a dream! The host Curt was very easy to communicate with and very informative. The house was beautiful and very clean. The property is exactly what we wanted. It is secluded and peaceful. Curt was kind enough to give us a quick tour of the property. Having the personal chefs for breakfast and dinner was the best decision we made. Every meal was delicious. We had an amazing stay and we were so sad when it was time to leave. We will definitely be back!!

After landing in Liberia and renting a car( from Adobe car rental), we ventured up to La Fortuna and then on to Casa Cielo. As suggested, we down loaded WAZE and it directed us to the house without much trouble. Having the opportunity to have dinner awaiting our arrival for a small fee the first evening was wonderful. It was very tasty. Curt, the owner, and his staff were there to greet and feed us. Each morning we were treated to a lovely breakfast which was such a treat! We had made arrangements ahead of time to venture to the Hanging Bridges and on a sloth tour. Curt had put us in touch with a private guide named Carlos Roman. What a wonderful connection! I can’t say enough about him. He was extremely knowledgeable and showed us amazing wildlife. He carried a spotting scope and so we were able to get amazing pictures. If you find yourself in need of a guided tour, you should definitely check with Carlos. Having time to visit with Curt was also very enlightening. His vision for his land with the sustainability and reduction of the carbon foot print is admirable. Curt also directed us to the Childrens’ Eternal Rainforest where we were able to hike to a lovely waterfall. Once we returned from the hike we enjoyed soaking in the private pool on the grounds and watching toucans flit among the trees. If you are looking for a remote luxury location that can accommodate a large group, this may be the rental for you. Before we booked, we realized that travel into La Fortuna was about a 20-30 minute drive so that wasn’t an issue for us. Also, we realized the house is not air conditioned which may be a draw back for some, but getting a cross breeze at night helped regulate the temperature. The host/owner, Curt, is very helpful and attentive. He restored this property that had been converted to a cattle grazing area, back to a natural rainforest that is absolutely beautiful. It is so peaceful and relaxing being on the lake. Bring binoculars so you can perhaps catch sight of some of the wildlife living in the rainforest across the lake. The property was nestled in the hills of Pocosol but well worth the visit. It is secluded but such a great getaway for the family. Curt and Helen were phenomenal hosts and breakfast was amazing every morning.

Curt (the owner) was so friendly, helpful and super interesting to talk to. He gave us great tips on things to do and the gal he had making meals for us was outstanding. Do yourself a favor and have her make some dinners and breakfasts for you because the food is off the charts. We Loved this place so much!

Casa cielo es simplemente hermosa, es espaciosa, se encuentra rodeada de naturaleza, posee muy buena ubicación (a 30 minutos de la Fortuna de San Carlos ) y cerca de ella se puede disfrutar de pozas naturales que vale la pena visitar.

Curt es un excelente anfitrión y Hellen es una chef impresionante, sus comidas son exquisitas, la forma en que ambos atienden a los huéspedes es espectacular.

Definitivamente recomiendo Casa Cielo y espero volver muy pronto.

This was our first time staying in an Airbnb. I can only hope that they are all this great. My girlfriend had never fished before and catching a tilapia off the deck was the highlight of her stay! LOL Mine was the meal that the chef prepared with the fillets. All of the food was so wholesome and delicious. We are from Costa Rica and never get real Maple syrup. I guess two words sum up our experience: PURA VIDA!

This place is INCREDIBLE. if you get the chance to stay here, you absolutely have to. It’s even better than the pictures, homemade meals were delicious, so beautiful, spacious, and secluded. You will love it as much as we did. Cannot recommend this more!!!

One of the best Airbnb's we've stayed at! Kurt was by far the best host we've ever had! The space was beautifully set in the mountains outside of La Fortuna. Town was a 30 minute drive. Kurt took us on a private hike to an awesome waterfall on his property. He also provided us with free range chickens that we cooked for dinner. The breakfast the cooks made were delicious! We're thinking of making an annual trip to this Airbnb and Costa Rica! USE WAZE!!!

Excelent house, it is just as fantastic as the pictures. the view, the sound of water, birds... This house has the escence of Costa Rica and all you want to find if you are looking for a nature retreat. Curt was always accesible, kind, and Hellen cooked a delicious breakfast. It was perfect! Sure I will be back

As I took my first view of the interior of the house as I walked through the doorway, I couldn’t help but feel a smile crept onto my lips, amazed that THIS was really the place I would be staying at for the next few days. It’s exactly like the photos, but SO MUCH BETTER. And bigger. But the house itself pales in comparison to the breathtaking view of the lake and woods through the glass walls of the house. Almost every panoramic window opens completely up, which is how we spent every evening after activities. We just turned out the lights and sat in our locally made, wood-and-leather rocking chairs on the back porch overlooking the lake. Rainstorms? Even better. Clear skies? We got to see toucans. Don’t worry about the ‘no AC’ thing, it was not an issue. Helen is an excellent chef who makes breakfast every morning for you, and lunch or dinner upon request (brush up on your Spanish though, she doesn’t speak any English). She is also the sweetest person you’ll ever meet. If I ever come back to Costa Rica, I will definitely be staying longer here. Trust me, you WANT to stay here. Sure you can stay at a flashy resort, but you can do that at home guys. You want a true Costa Rican experience? Stay in the rainforest on a lake with Curt and Daniela. Seriously. Stay here.

The house is picture perfect. Expect 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths. The location is remote, but the time estimates listed are accurate, about 5-8 minutes to the next store or restaurant. The road is rough but passable in a normal vehicle (SUV or Truck recommended, but not required). No problem with the bugs. No mosquitoes, you are in the forest, but the ecosystem is very well balanced. The breakfast is great and Helen is very accommodating to schedule.

Very cool property and surrounding land. This is about 30 to 40 min away from all the major arenal excursions you may want to do, so keep that in mind. The host is very hospitable and has a wonderful story about the property and the surrounding land.

All the reviews are spot on. Curt is an amazing host with a vast knowledge about the area. His support group was amazing. Helen's cooking was fantastic with great variety and simple freshness. Jack took care of all of our adventuring and followed up almost daily for our response.
