Enjoy the fishing village of Wanchese, the quaint town of Manteo, and the nearby beaches of the Atlantic during your stay in “Aunt Vid’s Cottage.” Aunt Vid’s family restored the cottage, preserving its original charm while providing many new amenities, including WiFi, central air-conditioning, new appliances, and an outside shower and fish-cleaning sink. Upon entering Aunt Vid's cottage, you will be transported to an earlier era of tranquility on Roanoke Island. The family restored the original pine floors throughout the cottage. They renovated the kitchen while maintaining its vintage feel with basket-weave tile, a retro fridge, and butcher block counter-tops. The little cottage has a large front porch for enjoying the island breeze. After a day at the beach or fishing on the sea, the outside shower is a private, roomy spot in which to wash away the sand.

Honestly, even if you weren't planning on going to Wanchese, staying in this place would make it worthwhile to take a detour. So close to the alligator national wildlife refuge, which is why we went, but ridiculously close to the beaches and restaurants and all of that if you're interested in that as well. Great place. Felt more like a cabin than a beach rental, which is why I liked it.

We came to Wanchese for the OBX Marathon and Half Marathon to watch our daughter run her first event. The house was really close to the Start/Finish line so that made it easy on us for the early start.
The house was really clean and quaint; the turtable and albums were utilized alot so we got to reminisce about Billy Joel, Linda Ronsatdt and Little Feat!

The cottage was clean,neat and close to the marina where our charter was located. The only faults were the lack of an exhaust fan in the bathroom which was in close proximity to the kitchen and dining area; if the tv was capable of getting local channels there were no instructions on how to acquire them and lastly some of the boards on the back deck needed to be replaced. Off season dining options are rather limited in Wanchese - that's not the proprietor's fault.

A birthday celebration get together. Cards, wine, records playing below the chatter at the cottage. Daily escapades to Nags Head beaches, Mulligans & Blue Moon for lunches, Manteo shopping and the Elizabethan Gardens. Bought seafood at O’Neals and cooked a few nights. Kitchen had what we needed. No complaints, loved it and hope to return!

This cottage was perfect for just the two of us. We like to stay away from the touristy crowds, but be close enough to take day trips to the beach/restaurants/attractions. Aunt Vid's cottage is the most charming little place with everything you need. Manteo and Wanchese were nice to explore, as well as trips across the bridge to all of the Outer Banks.

This vintage cottage was clean, cozy, and had everything needed for our 4 day stay! We enjoyed the record player and "Oldie but Goodie" record albums :) We couldn't get the lock to work on one of our days there but Cecilia helped us right away and put us back in business. If you're visiting the OBX area - this is the place to stay!

Lovely place. Outdoor shower was nice on the warm evenings. Easy parking for our 2 cars. Comfy living room with streaming all set up on the TV. Neighborhood was quiet, not a neighbor in sight. Far enough away from the shore to have some peace and quiet, but close enough to be in Kitty hawk in 10 minutes. Would definitely stay here again.

We forgot to sign the guestbook! We absolutely enjoyed our stay and the home accommodations were perfect. The record player was a hit.

Wonderful cottage equipped with everything needed. The host even provided coffee pods for the coffee maker!! Fresh flowers from the garden in the bedrooms and living area were lovely. The beds were super comfortable. Front porch was a favorite spot early mornings and afternoons. A decision to stay here will not regretted

Enjoyed staying in this cute cottage while going out and exploring sites nearby. Very clean, family loved the record player, fresh flowers in each room, extra beach towels were helpful too!

We stepped back in time to 1931 when we entered our Wanchese home. Furnished for comfort and decorated with antiques, our coastal cottage also had brand new central heat and air and a completely updated interior, while still maintaining 1931 wood floors and wood trim molding. When you stay in this quiet cottage, you will never want to leave. Thank you for sharing it with us.

This was our first experience on the Island of Manteo and Wanchese. The Cottage was very close to the venue of my nephew's wedding. We were able to have a relaxed enjoyable experience. The Cottage was well stocked, the hosts anticipated our every need and provided fun entertainment. We loved our stay.

My husband and I rented this cottage for our honeymoon and it was an adorable little cottage. We didn’t spend a lot of time in the cottage as there was so much to do in the Outer Banks, but the bed was very comfortable. The owner does provide Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, but the body soap was out when we stayed. Since we had brought our own shower supplies, we didn’t bother reaching out to the owner about it, but I’m sure they would have been willing to refill it if we had asked. I had reached out to her a couple of times before our stay and she always responded quickly and courteously. This was my first VRBO experience and I was overall pleased with the experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Aunt Vid’s cottage! It was our quiet retreat after spending the days exploring OBX. We loved sitting outside listening to the birds in the evening. And as others have said, it was fun having such an eclectic selection of LP’s to listen to on the record player! And we enjoyed fresh local fish bought just down the road. Mmmmm. Good!

My party and I all enjoyed staying at this wonderful little cabin. Upon check-in, there was a personalized note, welcoming us, and sweet treat to enjoy. We loved the origin story and the overall comfort and coziness of the place. We will definitely be back.

We loved our stay in the cottage. It is wonderfully decorated and includes many nice touches that make it fun to explore and spend time in. Communications with the host were very easy. We would certainly return if we plan another trip to the area!

We were looking for a centrally located basecamp for OBX exploration and the location was perfect. Close enough to drive to everything but out of the main traffic areas. The cottage is as charming as the photos and reviews say.

Our experience at Aunt Vid’s cottage was exceptional. From the minute we opened the door we felt at home. The furniture, amenities, cleanliness, comfortable beds, sweet kitchen and fresh flowers, along with many other things was wonderful. We will certainly recommend to our friends and family, and visit again ourselves.

From questions before our arrival, welcoming touches on the front porch and inside the house, the amenities, extras that were offered us made this more than a charming, convenient choice for us, it made it feel like a homecoming. If we return to OBX, we would love to stay here again.

Cecilia is so warm and welcoming before you even stay in her cottage. The cottage has a wonderful history that you can read about during your stay and from the moment we saw the cottage, we felt right at home. There are special touches everywhere to make you feel pampered. We loved our stay here!

This was a wonderful time for me and my sisters. We went sight seeing, took the ferry to Ocracoke Island, walked the beaches and seen the lighthouses. Our cottage was perfect!

Wanchese is an excellent launching point to explore the Outer Banks--we made a letter "H" during our stay--Bodie Lighthouse to Fort Raleigh to Wanchese for excellent softshell crab to Kitty Hawk. Our stay at Aunt Vid's Cottage was a highlight--fine welcoming splurges, sweet albums and a record player, a nice little kitchen to cook fresh seafood in. I started to unpack, found no hangers, so used the drawers, then just used my suitcase. Upshot is that I forgot my clothes in the drawer. Within two hours of departing, though, I received a call and the owners promptly mailed my clothes back to me with a nice note. I offered immediately to pay the postage, but they refused. When does this ever happen?! I'm grateful and encouraging. Stay here for a quiet, lovely respite during an outer banks visit and enjoy excellent hospitality.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The location is wonderful and a short trip to anywhere on Roanoke and most places on the Outer Banks. The home was furnished with everything we needed to enjoy our stay and relax. There was an incredible collection of books, games, records and more that were very interesting. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Prefect location for anything you might want to do on either the OBX , Roanoke Island, or going to Alligator Wildlife Refuge.
The cottage is quaint but has all the modern touches. Host knew we would be getting on late and left the lights on for us so we didn’t have to stumble around in the dark.

Beautiful Cottage
My family loved this house. We use VRBO for the vast majority of our vacation accommodations and this has been my wife's favorite accommodation. The inside is immaculately clean and decorated. The neighborhood is very quiet and out of the way, but local attractions are a short drive away.

Cute Quiet home
This was our 4th trip to the area, but our first time in Wanchese. We loved Aunt Vid's Cottage. It was quiet but close to everything! We got the best of everything here.
The cottage is quaint and had all of the feels of home. We loved the record player, front porch and adorable kitchen. We would definitely stay here again.
