About this house rental

As a traveler on a budget, finding safe and affordable housing in the age of Covid became a challenge. So, when I got the opportunity to provide safe and comfortable to those who are visiting Yellowstone, via the North Entrance, I jumped at the chance. With my own concept of what makes the perfect place to stay, I set about planning and furnishing this cute, older and spacious home, right down to the boot mat, extra quilts, clothes hangers, plenty of coffee and Montana made treats on your pillow. This one bedroom home has a queen bed in the bedroom with a large closet and nice windows, a full couch in the living room, with a chair, a coffee table that rises to an eating or computer surface, flat screen TV with Hulu Live, high speed WiFi, microwave, pots and pans, dishes, dining table, counter space in a large kitchen, combo tub/shower and washer and dryer. Just outside the back door is a place to sit and a gas grill, along with a beautiful garden, bird feeders and maybe even a cottontail rabbit. You will find comfort, not luxury, a place where you can sit down and relax in peace, and most of all, cleanliness and safety. Be mindful that Gardiner, MT is not a fancy place with front gardens because the wildlife eat everything. So, instead of typical curb appeal, you get elk, bison, deer, rabbits and whatever else wanders by. However, a fenced back yard lends to a beautiful, private and nicely landscaped place to enjoy, read, grill or just relax.

The property was ok. It is walking distance to town and to north entrance. This is definitely one of those, ‘don’t judge the book by it’s cover!’ We were shocked when we found house because it looked bad on outside. Once inside, felt a little better. It is an older home as stated, but does have that old smell to it! Bathroom sink was big inconvenience because you can only use hot OR cold water! We uses kitchen sink for washing up in mornings and evenings. The tub/shower is very small. I’m only 5 ft tall and I could touch ceiling when standing in shower. There was a constant odor in bathroom like old water leak or something. Not sure what is was, but we constitute used air fresher . Also, the washer was broke which we weren’t aware of and packed lightly. Hostess never informed us of this at anytime and point! We saw note on washer when we arrived. We ended up having to use laundry mat for washing clothes. We enjoyed our vacation as we saw lots of beautiful sites and animals. We only booked this house in Gardiner due to the north entrance being walking distance. However, it was closed due to flood and damaged that had occurred. We had to drive 3 1/2 hours around to get to park each time we went and to other destinations since we couldn’t cut across. The hostess would not refund our stay. She did offer to take us on private tour of park and refund $300 IF we chose to stay elsewhere. We found this offer to be a joke, considering the amount we paid for the week! And then to pay at least that much or more again elsewhere. Mother Nature is unpredictable, but we felt she should have done a better job in working with us. Especially since several shops, eating places and access to the north entrance was closes! We will definitely not be returning to her rental.

Great place to stay
My wife and I really enjoyed our 6 day stay. The place had everything we needed and then some, and it is the perfect size for a couple. It was very quiet, and the back patio was a nice place to relax.
