My teenager, husband and I celebrated an Xmas vacation this year and enjoyed our stay on H Street. We ate at nearly every restaurant within walking distance and loved every meal. We also enjoyed a very merry Xmas Eve with the friendly bartenders of the Queen Vic. It was a bit of a trek, but one day we walked to the Washington Monument from the VRBO - and I am not one to typically do that much walking - so it is doable! Kaprice was always quick to respond when we had a question, the space was comfortable and perfectly met our needs. We would definitely stay here again.

We have a very pleasant time overall. The house was adequately stocked with a wide range of things we may have needed. One minor change was the shower was very very small. It’s a claw foot tub which has a circular curtain around it and the curtain would stick to you, (it was new and clean) which was much appreciated. The wood floors were a bit rough but on par with the age of the house.
Overall all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

My husband and I decided to take our toddler on one last big family trip before we welcomed our newest little to the family. The house was gorgeous, spacious, and cozy. I will say as someone who isn’t used to, or fond of big cities it was a bit noisier than expected. There was some loud music played almost nightly on the corner, so the TV or sound machine was needed every night to drown out the noise.
Overall very nice house and aside from the nightly partying on the corner a pretty quiet area.

The host was very responsive, helpful, and accommodating. The home was clean and well furnished.
It is close to the main road (H), which is convenient for public transportation and restaurants, but it was noisy at night.

Everything was as described. Right near H St but without all the hustle and bustle of being on the street. Would 100% stay at this property again next time I’m in DC

Our kids (10-17) loved the place and were able to find space for themselves when family-time or sibling-time started to be too much. The adults also appreciated the ability to get space! Kitchen was excellent (coffee pot is small-we just ran it numerous times). I’m not great with technology, but my partner and kids were able to solve any difficulties in that arena (I had zero problems with codes and locks though).
Appreciated the noise machine in the bedroom (it’s a city. Expect sirens and other noises).
Very diverse community. The neighbors were friendly and helpful. Use of the H street trolley (free) made most of our trips easier (shorten walks to the mall/museums, ease in grocery shopping and getting luggage to and from union station). We walk a lot, but definitely didn’t need a car with this location. Smaller kids may need more subway trips.
This was our first non-hotel experience. We’re so glad we did it. Hotels to accommodate 5 were nearby as expensive. And obviously lack kitchens and the other perks.

As described; lovely house, with all amenities, clear instructions, easy check in and out, and very helpful host. Lots of nice extras for our stay, and 7 minutes walk to Whole Foods. Would stay here again on a DC trip.

This place is an absolutely gem. The entire house is immaculate, and we were definitely comfortable here. The two bedrooms upstairs were perfect and the so was the living area downstairs. There is a washer and dryer if needed along with a full size refrigerator and stove if you decide stay in and make something to eat. There is a lot of traffic in the area, but I guess that’s just D.C. It was safe as well. People jogging in the morning with no issues incase you’re worried about that. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and definitely would stay again.

Very welcoming arrangement of the townhouse...on-street parking is somewhat difficult (typical of DC)

We loved the home and all the instructions introducing us to the neighborhood. The trolley was a great find and we loved finding out a new neighborhood. The host was accommodating in every way and we would love to return.

The home was exactly as pictured in the listing. I have a very high standard of cleanliness and I felt this place hit my expectations of cleanliness. The house was extremely comfortable and it was nice to have a place to spread out with 2 teens after a day out and about. We had initially booked a hotel close to the National Mall and for less money we got an entire house. We enjoyed watching movies downstairs at night and there was enough room for everyone to lounge comfortably. We met the neighbors on each side and both were very friendly. There were only 2 downfalls:
1) The only full bathroom has a clawfoot tub with a wrap around shower curtain (we were aware when we booked). But the shower curtain would get wet and then if you touched it it would stick to you (neither my husband nor I are petite) and I just kept praying it was washed between guests (it looked clean, but you never know with a shower curtain).
2) The neighborhood was a little sketchy. Turn the corner at the end of the block and places are boarded up and have graffiti. Two nights while we were there there was loud partying outside the house till all hours of the night (during the weeknights) and the smell of pot was so strong it could be smelled in the house. There was loud music playing (a variety- one night they were blasting Mariah Carey music- LOL) and a lot of yelling and cursing. Police rolled through eventually about 1:30am the one night and broke it up. But the next morning there was trash everywhere right outside the house on the sidewalk and street. While I felt relatively safe during the day we did try to get back by night. We did not feel safe venturing out in the evening with the neighborhood activity and the state of the surrounding area. We also saw the police called for some activity in the street once during the day when we were getting ready to venture out.

The house was perfect for me, my husband and 9 year old. The only downside was the outside night noise. We are from SF and used to street noise but there were people congregating nightly outside. We were woken up twice after midnight by music and people hanging out.
Also a larger coffee pot would be nice (super small coffee pot so we had to make several pots as we like our morning coffee!)
Smaller spoons would be useful for cereal (only a few large spoons. No small spoons)
Shower could be difficult for older folks as there is nothing to hold on to. I was scared my son would pull down shower curtain getting in/out of shower.
The house was modern and comfortable!

Nice Stay
The property is very nice and Kaprice is a very communicative property owner. A few comments - the upstairs bathroom shower is in a soaker tub and is very difficult to get in and out of. Would be maybe dangerous for an older person with mobility issues. That is the only shower in the house. While we loved the location of the house, there was a group of men who were hanging out in the parking lot adjacent to the home until very late into the evening so there was noise until after 2am.
The house was very clean and many daily amenities were thoughtfully included by the owner.

We spent 3 nights in Kaprice's lovely home. The space was beautiful and immaculate. It is in a part of Washington I had never explored before. The restaurants were excellent; the local drugstore and Whole Foods were super handy. Kaprice was super responsive anytime we had a question...the perfect host! Thanks Kaprice!

I was in DC for a conference. I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness or the space and even more so by the thoughtfulness. Plenty of recommendations for eating, shopping, entertainment, etc. The home was very convenient to all of these as well as supermarkets. I walked daily to and from the Convention Center as well as to the National Mall and more. There was no lack of amenities and loved that music was playing when I walked in. The host even left a couple wonderful D.C. souvenirs for me to take back.

This is a very comfortable property - with a well-appointed kitchen, beautiful bedrooms, a nice shower, and comfortable communal spaces. We would have enjoyed the backyard patio, too, but it rained the entire time we were there If you compare the cost to staying in an expensive DC hotel, it's a bargain.

Wonderful Home, Parking & Neighborhood Not the Best
The home itself was wonderful. Games for us to play during down-time, toilet paper provided, and very comfortable stay. I did find a used towel hanging on the back of a bedroom door, but that was not a major issue. Showering with all of the curtains around us was difficult, as others have mentioned. Parking was extremely difficult on the Saturday we arrived. We had to park several blocks over but were able to move the car closer during the week. What appeared to be homeless people hanging out on the corner during the day made us nervous as a family traveling with children. Overall, we were pleased with the proximity to the Streetcar and the house itself. That being said, I'm not sure we'd choose to stay here again.
