About this house rental
Located in Vilano Beach, this charming house for $513 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Cottage on May – Newly listed! Enjoy this historic 1935 home which has been recently renovated with brand new amenities. Location – Location – Location. The Cottage on May is only 1.6 miles from Vilano Beach, a favorite spot for the locals. The Fountain of Youth and Old Jail are only a five-minute walk. Take a romantic stroll down the picturesque Magnolia Avenue, one of the most photographed streets in the USA. Historic downtown, St. George Street and the Castillo de San Marcos fort are a short 20-minute walk, only one mile. Restaurants, Antique Shops and many Boutiques are within walking distance. Don’t feel like walking? There are a couple of bicycles in the shed that you are welcome to use. Also available are beach chairs, beach umbrella and boogie boards. This home is a three-bedroom split plan, allowing the adults a bit of privacy from other guests. The master bedroom has its own bath with shower. The guest bedrooms share another bath which has a tub. All bedrooms have Smart TV’s with complimentary Comcast programming. The home also has high speed internet with Wi-Fi throughout. Home has Central A/C and all bedrooms have ceiling fans. The kitchen has been updated with new appliances, cabinetry and quartz countertops. The focal point of our kitchen is the original brick chimney once used for a wood burning stove. Neatly stowed away you will find all the necessary gadgets to accommodate your stay. Adjacent to the kitchen is the Mud Room, complete with large Washer, Dryer, sitting area and farm sink to rinse the sand off after a relaxing day at the beach. The Living Room is a wonderful place to relax, complete with reading nook, fireplace and television. The gorgeous original wood floors add to the historic charm. Off the Living Room is a cozy Sunroom complete with seating area and writing desk. Looking out the front window, you will see the historic “Pink Castle” home which is a historic St. Augustine landmark. What we love most about our home is the outdoor areas. The home is completely nestled beneath a canopy of stately oak trees which are draped with Spanish Moss. An outdoor dining area is set up under a beautiful pergola with string lights that set the mood. Enjoy some S’mores at the firepit chiminea. A new Weber gas grill is also available. The yard is plenty large enough for the young ones to play. No issues with parking at this home. There are three spaces in the front driveway and two more in the rear driveway off San Carlos Avenue. For your safety, the home has passed the fire department safety inspection. It is complete with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguisher, egress diagrams and emergency lighting. We spent 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the house. Its a historic beauty, clean and in a great location.
Its walkable to historic St. Augustine and an easy bike ride to Vilano Beach. The yard is great, and we appreciated the usable bikes.
Also loved that they decorated for the holidays and provided snack bags.
On the downside, the dishwasher did not work, and neither did the outdoor grill. We notified the hosts.

We had a great time at this property, it was so clean and cute inside, had everything we needed and the host was so nice. The host left us a beautiful basket that was tailored to our group, which was a really thoughtful touch! There was a little issue with beds but the host fixed it immediately! Would definitely recommend to anyone going to St Augustine!

My husband and myself along with 2 other couples decided to spend our wedding anniversaries in St. Augustine this year. I found the listing for this home and it was exactly as the photos described. This home is located in a great proximity to many historic attractions and the beach. There are too many extras to list but there is not a detail missing. You will not be disappointed if you choose this home. This was my first VRBO transaction/stay and 17 May has set the bar pretty high. If we return to the area again, we hope to stay here.

We stayed in St. Augustine following our Disney Vacation. We do this often because we all know that Disney is not relaxing. This charming cottage was the perfect spot for our family to enjoy St. Augustine and relax. The proximity to the beaches, as well as downtown was perfect for us. We were able to walk around when we wanted to and the short drive to down was perfect. The cottage itself was absolutely beautiful and clean! Anything and everything we needed during our stay was thought of and available for us. The size was perfect for me, my husband, our two kids and my grandparents. We can not say enough good things about this place. They also had cute personalized touches for visitors. Thank you so much for such a beautiful place to relax and recoup after a very busy week. We will surely be back again!

The May Street cottage is the best! It’s just around the corner from the beautiful Magnolia St. and The Fountain of Youth. The Property Manager was fantastic! She made it personable and very special for our 50 the Birthday Girl Trip! Would highly recommend. It had everything we needed. We will be rebooking.

The Cottage on May was perfect for our family of five. The home was equipped with everything we needed during our stay. We had plenty of space and walked everywhere we needed to go in St. Augustine's historic area. We really only used the car to head to the beach or grocery store, all of which was super close. Hayley was an exceptional host and provided a special treat for the kids to enjoy on Easter. It made them feel really special. Everything you need is provided and then some. I would definitely recommend staying here and we will definitely book again when returning to the area.

Hayley was so great to work with. The house was great and the backyard spectacular. The inside of the house was perfect and very welcoming. Walking distance to the historic downtown and a 5 minute drive to the beaches.

Cottage on May is adorable and welcoming! Our stay was for our niece’s wedding that was postponed from October due to Hurricane Ian. Hayley responded quickly to our booking and then we needed to make a change and she was very prompt with our request. The Cottage is very clean, well kept. Beds, pillows, towels and furniture very comfortable and a good surprise was a shower with good water pressure! I will definitely book again when we go to St. Augustine.

Four adults (seniors, actually) rendezvoued for the a long weekend and it was perfect.
All prior reviews will accurately describe the super cute, (very) clean, (very)comfortable (super)well-equiped and lovely accommodation. But....this is important!.....walk 3-4 blocks and catch the Hop-on/Hop-off trolley so you can see all the local (very cool and historic) attractions without having to drive/deal with parking.
An attentive host who has supplied everything (and more...games, TV's in each bedroom, generous welcome treat, comfy beds, very nice linens, quaint place inside and out)... it does not get any better than 17May. Thank you for setting the VRBO bar so high!

The whole process from start to finish was great.
The owner is super accommodating letting us arrive early and leave a little late which was very helpful with a baby.
The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The welcome basket was an extra nice touch. I would highly recommend this property and would stay here again.

Hayley 's Cottage on May was spectacular. I fell in love as soon as I walked in and just immediately felt at home. The gift basket was a wonderful touch, as was the bottle of wine. My family enjoyed being able to spend the holiday weekend together and Cottage on May made that so much better.

We had my sister's bachelorette here and wow, what an amazing experience from beginning to end. The cottage was beautiful inside and out and close to downtown. We had all the amenities we needed. Our host, Haley, was responsive and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything and surprised us with a special gift basket for our group when we got in! Overall we had an amazing experience and can't wait to go back!

Everything was perfect. No surprises, just a well cared for cottage minutes away from the historic center of St. Augustine as well as the beach. Our family enjoyed sitting around the dining room table and the outdoor area. Excellent host!

We had such a great trip! The cottage was in pristine condition and beautifully decorated. They had every beach supply we could need, which was so helpful traveling with kids! Hayley was easily reachable and promptly responded to any and every question we had! Highly recommend Cottage on May! We will be back!

Quaint cottage
The host thought of everything, from beach supplies to a mending kit that came in handy. The cottage is beautiful and only a few minutes drive to the fountain of youth and historical district. The only downside was the how busy May street is. Getting out of the driveway was a challenge every time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our getaway in this charming cottage. The kitchen was well equipped, and we could eat either indoors in the dining room or outside on the patio, where we could hear the peacocks from the nearby Fountain of Youth. While the front street was busy, it was never a bother. We found both the beach and the historic section to be within walking distance, and you could watch the sun setting off the bridge in the evening.
Luxury touches such as the robes in each room, the cotton pouch holding upscale toiletries, the thick white towels, and the new LG washer and dryer were all appreciated. The shed in back housed nice touring bikes as well as chairs for the beach, and the beds were quite comfortable. Would definitely recommend!

Stay at the Cottage
This is a wonderful, quaint house. It felt so cozy and welcoming. Very clean, and great outdoor space. Only thing was that when we booked this we didn't realize that is was on such a busy road so enjoying the outdoor space comes with traffic noise. You cannot hear the traffic noise inside house so that was good. This of course is no reflection hosts and/or the great experience we had on our stay,....just something to note.

Cutest cottage!
My family had a wonderful time here. The owners truly thought of everything! The house was adorable and the proximity to beach and downtown was perfect. Front street was a bit noisy but didn't bother us at night and kids/baby slept just fine! Would definitely stay here again. Thanks for a great week!!!
