About this house rental
Mountain experience at the Dancing Artist Cabin located in Village of Cloudcroft, Christmas Capitol, of NM. Mountains Skiing Biking Hiking Wildlife watching Golf at The Lodge, Fine Dining at Rebecca's Restaurant Sunsets Dining and shopping: Mad Jack's Mountain BBQ, The Brewery, The Lodge, unique shops, wine tasting at Noisy Waters Winery to name a few. Wildlife and aspens (deer runs in front and back of cabin) Free WiFi, smart TVS with streaming services featuring cabin guest profiles Master bedroom 1: with full bath, king bed, daybed twin size, smart TV Bedroom 2 with guest full bath, queen bed and smart TV Indoor Living: open LDK with wood burning fireplace, large dining table for 8, fully stocked kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, pantry, utility room w/ washer and dryer. Central heat Outdoor Living: furnished front and back decks, with gas grill Security system is located on front deck and back deck for property and guest security, required by our current property insurance provider. Absolutely NO camera devices are inside cabin. First aid kit in kitchen cabinet, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors also in cabin. No smoking in or on property, no deep fryers or fire pits, bc of fire spark danger. We are in national forest. We are on the mountain side close to The Lodge; in fact, you can walk to end of one street and see the golf course with lots of resident elks! A beautiful, scenic drive takes you to Alamogordo and White Sands. Drive through the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation to Ruidosa for more fun. Hiking trail info is in cabin. Go to Cloudcroft Chamber of Commerce for a list of all activities and festivals. You must be 23 to secure a reservation. All payments are handled through VRBO only. No smoking in cabin or on property, no pets. Parking is directly in front of cabin, the length of cabin only. We can accommodate 2 cars parallel parked. Please do not block the short driveway, as neighbor must be able to drive through. The long driveway to right, facing cabin, is private property and cannot be used.

Things I wish I had known: There was a lot traffic in front of the cabin and other cabins are extremely close on the sides and in the back.
**We like to spend time outside. If you don’t mind those things, this is a nice place to stay.
The CABIN itself was GREAT and we had DEER, ELK and wild HORSES visit. It’s close to restaurants and shopping. We really enjoyed our stay despite the traffic and dust from it. Neighbors weren’t an issue either.

Very nice getaway. My wife and I were refreshed by the experience. Very neat and comfortable cabin. Saw lots of bird, mule deer and elk. Had a nice time. Just what we needed.

This a clean, well organized, nicely decorated cabin. Quiet area. Located just a few blocks from town.
Picture of cabin is a little deceiving as there are now cabins on both sides and behind. The whole area could use some cleaning up on the outside.
We only used the king bed and it was comfortable. Plenty of hot water. All in all a nice place.

The property was wonderful. The kids loved the decor and the bedroom with their own bathroom. Loved the deer hanging around the yard in the late afternoon. Great location, quiet and very friendly people.

The photos don’t do this justice. It is bright, clean, and current. The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked. The location was perfect.

My young family and I stayed at Jana's place for Thanksgiving this year, and we had the perfect time. All the amenities were more that conducive to make a great feast, the home was super cozy, the surrounding area was beautiful, and the unit is so close to the main strip of Cloudcroft, so it was very easy to make runs to the store. Jana is an excellent host who was super responsive even on a holiday and overall so welcoming. We'll definitely be looking for this booking next time we plan to visit Cloudcroft.

The cabin was perfect for the two of us. We sat on the front deck the first evening and watched a few deer across the road. The property owner had told us about a few locations to go to for good wildlife viewing and some other great local restaurants. Overall, I would recommend staying here and next time we head to Cloudcroft we will definitely be staying here. 10 stars!

The entire experience, from reservations to safe travel home best wishes, was absolutely top notch, and much more than expected. The home owner made everything easy, with simple explanations by email, text, and printed at her lovely vacation rental. We hope to make this an annual pilgrimage to the friendly & fun town of Cloudcroft.

The cabin was awesome. Very clean and maintained. The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and dishes and the beds were extremely comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

The cabin was so cozy and felt like home - the decorations were eclectic, the amenities were plentiful, and the kitchen…the kitchen had EVERYTHING! Most short term rental places have a few plates and bowls, and maybe a pot or two, but not here - there wasn’t an item missing when it comes to having a fully functional kitchen with all the tools!!! I don’t think there was anything I needed that wasn’t there, in the kitchen or otherwise. We enjoyed evenings by the fireplace, playing board games, and having coffee on the front porch - and the fairy gardens!!! We have fairy gardens in our yard at home, so I knew this place would be perfect for us - the fairy gardens are such a nice touch and so much fun!!! If you’re trying to decide which place to stay in Cloudcroft, pick this place - it won’t disappoint!

Cozy Cabin
It was beautiful cabin with lots if fun decor to feel really apart of New Mexico. Cloudcroft was a great little mountain town to relax in. One thing that was odd, at thr beginning of our stay was we parked on front of stairs like instructed and no more than I took two steps the neighbor to the right came out and immediately no "hi" or anything just said we were not allowed to drive past a certain pole there, which is fine, but after a long drive that was our first greeting we all found that a bit unusual. Jana was great at communicating and giving us information about the property. Ohhh also one thing we were really pleased with is that it had many of the small accommodations to cook a nice dinner and breakfast that was much appreciated.
We will stay again, we loved it.

We arrived after 7 with a well lit cabin to light our way. Very comfortable accomodations. We were greater with deer in the front yard upon return our second day. They were very friendly and I think they would have eaten out of our hand if we had the proper food. I would highly recommend Jana and her comfy cabin.

Lovely cabin, great for families
This cabin is beautifully maintained. The owner has provided all the comforts of home. My 3 year old twins loved the trundle beds and having a TV in their own room. The kitchen has everything you need, including K-cups and muffin mix. We will happily rent again.

Cabin itself and the host were by far the best we've ever stayed in. Host made sure to communicate with us and even had coffee and muffin mix welcoming us.
Location is within walking distance to town. So. If you're looking for something more secluded this is not the place. Neighbors are very close. Lots of traffic on road in front of house. Aside from that, top notch experience.

My family - two adults and one child - stayed in Jana’s cabin for four nights as part of a ten-night trip through New Mexico. We were glad to be away from the Texas heat, surrounded by the towering trees of Lincoln National Forest. We didn’t need any air conditioning inside the house.
The house had all the cooking supplies we needed, including a clean gas grill outside.
My biggest complaint would be that signs in the house instructed us to put soiled toilet paper in the trash, instead of flushing it down the toilet. This was our first time in Cloudcroft, so I’m not sure how common this practice is for houses in the area. We were not expecting this.
Jana was friendly and communicated clearly, which we appreciated. Our child loved playing with the fairy houses outside the cabin and the board games inside.
