We loved the vibe ! Sweet cozy and the turntable was a nice bonus. Property has bunnies so fun to catch darting between the shrubs. We had an amazing time and I was able to properly introduce the blessings of the dessert to my kids. It’s a powerful place!

Eveything you need to feel right at home. Stylish and comfortable furniture, great bed and linens. The kitchen has every utensil and vessel you would ever need if you were to cook all your meals in the home, plus a fully stocked spice cabinet. The neighborhood is quiet and it feels like you are miles away even though vintage stores, groceries and restaurants are just minutes away. This will definitely be my go to home when I visit Yucca. Also, great communication with the property manager.

Myself and a best friend booked this house for our annual Thanksgiving week of vacation - we loved the photos, the location, and the price was right. Overall, we were really enjoyed the stay: THE GOOD: Great location - quiet, off the beaten path, well-maintained property, and a quick drive to lots of great places. The house had plenty of space, nice amenities with comfortable beds and good heating/cooling. The management was easy to communicate with and added a personal touch or two to make the stay even better. They made the stay very enjoyable and the check-out process was a breeze. WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED: We love coffee in the morning and while they offer both a French press and an auto drip machine, the auto drip is a tiny 4 cup machine that barely makes two cups of coffee (not a big deal to grind and make more) but there is counter space for a regular 10-cup machine. Also, the initial rental was a bit frustrating due to how the property is advertised from a price point. We picked the house, partially on how the pricing was advertised (it fit our budget for 2 people). Be prepared to pay about 1.5x the VRBO advertised rate because of the fees (spa fee, local taxes, cc fee, cleaning fee). These fees may not be included due to law/rules or because the owner wants to make it look more appealing - but the charges add up. And yes, they mention that there are additional fees in the listing but it's written in a way that you THINK it's part of the advertised rate. I do appreciate transparency in the various charges but either include them in the listing rate (so people know what they can expect to pay) or make it crystal clear all the charges are supplemental. All said, the outstanding management from OpenAir and the great location and home would definitely bring us back.

Our stay at Kinfolk Ranch was by far the best vacation home I’ve stayed at. It felt like picking up a life away from home—we weren’t in want, and every part of the home was thoughtful and just the perfect touch of familiar. The outdoor areas were so enchanting; we started mornings on the front porch with provided local coffee and ended our days in the hot tub looking at the stars. The property itself is in a sparse neighborhood, making it comforting to be in range of other homes yet isolated enough to feel like like the desert is all yours. The Joshua Trees on the grounds are breathtaking, and make it feel like you’re living in a postcard. Open Air Homes has done such an incredible job at making a space that feels like it’s yours, and also offered 24/7 support and concierge services that made everything a breeze. The property itself is easy to get to from the main road, making navigation easy whether to breakfast in town or a longer venture to the national park or Palm Springs. The moment we left, we already began to miss it—so grateful for such a sweet oasis. ✧

Over the years, we've stayed at VRBOs all over North America and abroad. Our time at Kinfolk was among the very best stays we've had the pleasure of having anywhere, anytime. The house itself is simple elegance—an atmosphere flooded with that clarifying desert light inside and out that immediately lowered our shoulders (and our blood pressures). Exceptionally tidy, clean, and well-appointed, with grounds that were a joy to explore and wander, ideal for contemplative strolls any time of the day. We also enjoyed walking the neighborhood's rolling lanes with our small dog, who seemed to marvel at the flauna and flora as much as we did. We're both writers and one of us came specifically to try to finish (or start to finish, at least) a writing project. The creative energy/muse that lives at Kinfolk is a wonderful thing and stories flowed, whether on paper or simply between two partners who have seen a lot of each other this last COVID year but hadn't shared an adventure of a new kind in far too long. Thank you, Brad, for this absolute gem. You have no idea how much we needed its nurturing shelter and restorative powers.
