Nestled in Juneau, this charming house for $451 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Let “The Cove” serve as your base and retreat as you explore this spectacular corner of Alaska. The Cove is nestled close to the shores of Smugglers Cove in the arms of the temperate rain forest of Southeast Alaska. Our location provides a unique blend of the feeling of remote living, but with the convenience of being close (8 miles) to the town center of Juneau. Come join us in your private home as you let your surroundings smuggle away your cares and reset your soul. Take some time to wander out our backdoor into the magic of the Rain forest, where salmon berries and blueberries flourish. Or maybe a beach walk along the shores of Smugglers Cove is more to your linking where resident eagles keep watch. Whatever you decide, the best part is knowing “The Cove” is waiting to embrace you when you return. As your base camp, your private cottage serves to help you recuperate from your adventures, it provides you a relaxing setting to give your legs and feet a rest, comforting beds to carry you to sleep and a full kitchen and barbecue should you decide to practice your culinary skills. So make us a part of your next visit, enjoy our views and relax in the comfort of the cove. There is much to do and see around Juneau from kayaking to hiking. So if you need help with arrangements let us know we love Alaska and love to share it with others. If you're here to work or vacation, consider "The Cove" for your home away from home. My husband built this original home 20 years ago. Here we raised our three children before “living small” was popular. Over the past four years we added a detached home next to it where we now reside. We reserve “The Cove” for children to come back to and for YOU to come visit for a wonderful Alaska stay. Your (900 sq ft) private space includes the main entrance and bedroom with full size murphy bed, on lower level with rear exit leading to back yard and fire pit. Upper level includes kitchen, dining and seating area with spacious deck and barbecue, as well as, bedroom with queen bed, laundry, and shower only bathroom. The location is 10 min from the airport. Situated in popular Auke Bay with a new Brewery, dining options, and whale watching boats, fishing and kayaking available. “Out the road” find more beaches and tourist attractions including one of my favorites, The Shrine of St. Therese. The Mendenhall Glacier is also in close proximity which is a must see. I especially like the walk to Nugget Falls water fall.

The house and area exceeded our expectations. We were only there for a short 3 days, but had an amazing time. The house was stocked with everything you would need. We loved how the spice cabinet even had a jar labeled"chocolate" with several chocolate candies inside. Lots of small, little touches that made this an ideal base for our adventures. We hope to be back!!

We recently stayed at the "Cove" for 8 nights and have to say, it is an ideal place for adventure in Juneau. The location is perfectly situated with Juneau to the south, Auke Bay near by, and all the hiking trails to the north. The home was clean, well decorated with all the amenities you need for a family. The hot tub is an excellent treat at the end of a long day, and the best part is the private outdoor shower! The owners were very responsive and accommodating. We got a short tour when we arrived and when the warm days arrived, they provided camp chairs for us for a day at the "beach." We hope to go back soon...thank you for a wonderful stay!

My husband Ron and I started planning his retirement trip over a year ago. He always wanted to go to Alaska and after watching several you tube videos on different parts of Alaska, we zeroed in on Juneau! We knew that we didn’t want to be on a cruise and just have 8 or so hours in Juneau, so he started looking in VRBO and found THE COVE!
Wow! What a great experience from start to finish. I connected with Bernadine right away and she was exceptionally wonderful to work with, even sending a package of things to do in Juneau and a map to our home in Florida, to help us plan our trip.
Upon arriving, she greeted us and made sure we had everything that we needed. The home was clean and beautiful and there wasn’t anything that she didn’t think of, to make our stay at The Cove complete. We stayed 7 days and the location was far enough away from downtown Juneau but yet close enough to enjoy as well.
We booked a whale watching tour with Jayleens Whale watching company upon Bernadine’s suggestion and it was amazing. The dock was near by as well. We also took a Seaplane Tour to Taku Is, which was spectacular!
All in all, we told our family that we would definitely recommend them staying at The Cove, bar none!

Everything about the stay here was amazing! The house was so clean and comfortable, Bernadine makes sure you have everything you might need like extra towels, cosy blankets, and a well stocked kitchen. Bernadine checked in to make sure we had everything we might need - she's a great host! We enjoyed looking out on the ocean from the kitchen table and appreciated the peace and quiet of this location. We came for work and when we come back we will stay here again!

The house was as advertised. Burnie (the host) is very sweet and nice lady. She was very quick to response and accommodated all my needs. She also picked us up at the airport when we stuck due to late arrival. I recommend this house.

The Cove is just perfection doesn't begin to describe the beautiful space that awaits you! Inside and out, this property made the perfect home base for our 5 days in Juneau - we were able to cook, have a fire (inside and out), and enjoy coffee and wine on the deck overlooking the bay. Bernie has though of everything for your stay!

Top notch experience. Beautiful house with exceptional attention to detail. Small touches such as technology (Wi-Fi, Apple TV, Alexa lights and speakers) and homey creature comforts (coffee selection!, mattress ,etc.) made us feel right at home. Not to mention the view. The place was spotless and the attention to details was very much appreciated. We enjoyed the hike in the neighborhood and our walk to the bay every morning. Bernie and the property can not be beat! She beat all expectations from providing the coffee and spices to a home that is beautifully maintained and cozy. Watching bald eagles from the deck, a short hop to kayaks and paddling Auke bay, knowing guides that provided a ticket to our dreams of hiking to the glacier. Definitely worth a return trip.

A true gem in a beautiful setting
We spent 5 nights in this beautiful place. The setting and the unit are quiet, peaceful and surrounded by Alaska beauty. The pictures are absolutely accurate yet the place is even better than the pictures. We were lucky to have mostly reasonable weather and were able to sit out on our deck and have a glass of wine and view Auke Bay Cove. Our hostess Bernie was exceptional! Very attentive, friendly, always helpful and available if needed. Just the kind of hostess you would want. The property is nicely appointed with a very comfortable bed and high quality bedding, towels, kitchen necessities. Location is close enough to Auke Bay (the town), fishing charters, Mendenhall Glacier, Safeway, and downtown. This one is a keeper. It’s a first class place and we would love to stay here again.
