A short stroll from Maria Island ferry terminal to arriving at The Barracks, greeted by Kim & John.
Sat by the fire and enjoyed a delicious glass of Tassie wine and local cheeses.
Beautiful room with very comfortable bed.
Fantastic breakfast with wonderful stories about the restoration of this amazing building.
Have dinner 50m away at the lovely pub, or opt for the classic fish and chip shop.
This really is first class accommodation and hosting. Highly recommended.

The Hosts communicated well, gave us travel advice on best route to take, greeted us on arrival. They gave us a lot of tips on what to visit, and provided a wonderful breakfast the following morning. Wonderful to see and experience the history and see the restoration done to an extremely high level.

Triabunna Barracks is a beautiful redevelopment that emanates classic yet modern style, ultimate comfort and cosiness and delightful hosts. We received a delicious platter & drink on arrival, made up of locally sourced products. Organising meals and drinks was a breeze, with a delicious breakfast included as well as access to a chefs kitchen if you wish to bring your own food along. There is no stress of organising drinks, as The Barracks store an array of local beverage options that can be purchased and enjoyed by the fireplace. The accommodation was in a prime location and is the perfect place to wind down after a busy day exploring Maria Island, being only a short distance from the Marina.

Beautifully refurbished barracks from the early 19th century. you can see that both owners John and Kim have poured their heart out for this unique property. Owners were very kind, attentive and knowledgeable about Triabunna and surroundings, yet very respectful of guests’ private space. They certainly are the perfect hosts!

The location was excellent. Very short stroll to get on our boat trip to Maria island. Room was very comfortable and so nice to stay in barracks with so much history. Interesting to learn about the whole renovation process. Breakfast was excellent and gluten free was catered for. Cheese platter and drink on arrival was well appreciated. Home made yogurt and stewed fruits were also enjoyed. We were also spoilt when the host offered to organise a fresh lobster for us for dinner.

The property has been superbly restored by the owners creating a modern and comfortable residence with the still close connection to the history of the property creating just just a lovely space to enjoy . It is a moments walk to the superb Maria Island cruise dock which was a bonus and the breakfast was just right . You cannot go wrong if you choose to stay here .

There was nothing not to like!
Welcoming hosts from John and Kim, with a welcoming drink and small platter, and explaining about the transformation of the historical Barracks site to making it a Guest House. Helpful hints on weather, restaurant recommendations and tips for the day! The entire renovation is absolutely remarkable and the attention to details from the polished concrete with the glass found during the archaeological dig from the site, to the room furnishings with the TV that when off looks like a photo of the cottage. Room was comfortable and spacious, beds comfortable, large bathroom with bath and shower. Great home cooked breakfast with options and an honesty bar for after hours. It would definitely be my first preference to stay if visiting again.
Struggling to find a fault - the only minor issue is some light from underneath the door from the hallway at night.

Fabulous renovation of historical buildings, a beautiful property. The attention to detail and incorporation of artifacts into the design is well thought out and impressive. The hosts, John and Kim, did much of the work themselves. They are friendly, helpful and give great advice.
Wifi in the Quarters could be flaky and could hear some noise from the neighbors.

We loved our stay at the Triabunna Barracks. From the moment we arrived we were in awe. The room was stunning, a beautiful combination of heritage meets modern. Kim and John are warm and welcoming and our stay was superb. The property is quiet and secure. Luxurious touches and the rooms with a kitchenette and Nespresso machine if you want to use it. We received a welcome cheese and cracker platter and drink which was a nice way to start our stay. Kim makes a wonderful plentiful breakfast using local ingredients. Our breakfast set us up for the day. Good barista coffee and very nice tea. This in our opinion, is the go to place for accomodation in Triabunna

Kim and John are such great hosts. Complimentary cheese board and wine upon arrival, freshly cooked breakfast in the morning. The room itself is luxurious in terms of space and attention to details. The bathroom is enormous. We very much appreciated the comfortable bathtub after spending the day cycling 25km on Maria Island. Having stayed at The Tasman in a "luxury suite" for two nights the Barracks is more luxurious in comparison. The best of all, the hosts very patiently detailed their journey of restoring the Barracks which is fascinating and inspiring. Needless to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend anyone to experience the hospitality of the Barracks.
