About this house rental
Kayak Cottage is a gently sloping, lakefront property with a private covered boat dock. This cottage is nestled in the peaceful Carriage Cove subdivision right off the main channel of beautiful Lake Barkley. Our cottage is perfect for couples and families to spend quality time together. We are located approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes from Nashville, TN and 1/2 hour from the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Enjoy your morning coffee on the screened-in porch while taking in the the beautiful sunrise. Explore the natural surroundings while kayaking around the tranquil cove, with FOUR kayaks/paddles/lifejackets provided. Or, simply relax and enjoy some fishing on the boat dock. Don't forget to obtain your fishing license! For a day of golf, two golf courses (Boots Randolph and Arrowhead) are within approximately five miles of the cottage. Bring your own boat and launch it at a nearby public boat ramp. You may also take advantage of boat rentals available at nearby Prizer Point Marina or Lake Barkley State Park. After a day on the lake, enjoy the outdoor fire pit as the sun sets. We provide wood, starter, and skewers. Just bring your marshmallows! Our small town of Cadiz is known for many antique shops downtown, along with other essential stores such as grocery and pharmacies. If you prefer to be indoors, enjoy the tranquility of a gas log fireplace in the great room or downstairs master suit. The cottage has been newly decorated, along with new linens, towels, etc. Two bedrooms (king and queen) and full bath are located on the main level with a master suite/full bath (king) and bunk room with a double bed (no door, but private with a small opening to master) located on a lower level walk out basement, where you can access a covered porch complete with a porch swings overlooking the lake. Additionally, the couch pulls out into a queen size bed. Overall, the cottage can sleep up to ten. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the luxuries of home, along with a propane gas grill on the lower porch. If you don't feel like cooking, no problem! Check out the Prizer Point Marina/Restaurant which is just 2 miles from the house. Enjoy the open floor plan of the eat-in kitchen and great room. Cable is provided along with wifi. As you're planning your trip to Lake Barkley, keep in mind that there are varying water levels throughout the year. Additionally, our cottage has been disinfected through a safe two-step electrostatic spraying system (alllen.LastGerm.com), which is registered by the EPA to kill the SARS-COV-2 (virus causing COVID-19) and a variety of other germs and viruses and mold and mildew, etc. The products are FDA and NSF approved to be nontoxic to humans and animals. You can be assured that sanitation is our top priority in order to keep our guests safe.

We wanted a little getaway for a relaxing NYE weekend and we definitely found it! This home exceeded its description. Roomy place to enjoy "chat time", board games and to just savor time together. We envisioned how we could enjoy this space even more in warm weather with access to a boat dock, kayaks, etc. In fact, already planning time for my husband and I to bring our family. We will most definitely be back!

The house was very nice and extremely clean! My friend and I especially loved the huge dining table. We took over half of it for our Christmas card and gift tag making! The covered patio/porch upstairs was amazing, although due to rain and cold temperatures, we didn’t get to enjoy it as much as we would have liked. We built a fire in the fire pit one night and that was fun. This was a super relaxing little vacation with our friends of almost 50 years! Also thanks for the great communication before we arrived. Our messages were responded to very quickly.

We had 2 couples and our kids stay at the house. Adults each had a bedroom upstairs and there was plenty of space for the kids downstairs.
Having the 4 kayaks available with life jackets was great, so we could play around on the water in the nice cove that the home was on.

We loved it here. Very nice house and neighborhood! I loved the screened in porch. We sat out there every morning and evening and looked at the lake. Loved the wildlife. Would definitely stay here again. Owner was also very nice and helpful with questions I asked before our trip.

What a wonderful stay. We all wish it could have been longer. Great fishing location on lake Barkley. Close to necessities. But poor service, (at least with Verizon) for me that’s a plus! The house is nice with plenty of sleeping options. I brought my boat and she had a perfect spot under the covered dock. Close to several launches. One great option even closer than what they recommend. Bring your food and grill tools (the only thing we found lacking during our stay were some tools for grilling. Also, I recommend you try to arrive during daylight hours to fully appreciate this property. We arrived at night and missed out on a lot that first evening due to lack of knowledge. The sunsets here are absolutely beautiful!!! If you’re looking for a well amended versatile location on Lake Barkley I recommend giving this place a try. Just not when I want to return :).

We had a wonderful stay at Kayak Cottage! The house was nice and clean, kitchen stocked well, propane grill, comfy King bed (we only used 1 bedroom), wifi, lots of different birds and wildlife in the area... house as listed. We had a relaxing 5 night stay and explored the area. Wish we spent more time in the Land Between the Lakes! Loved the lakefront view, sunsets were beautiful,! We used the screened-in porch every night. Great neighborhood to walk in and was quiet! Didn't get a chance to use the kayaks, maybe next time! Jeri was quick to respond when we made the reservation, and with the house information! Would definitely stay there again! Thanks for sharing your lovely house with us!

The house was great - had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the house was cold - nice during the day in Kentucky & slept with extra blankets at night! Pros - lake location was great. Caught several catfish in the cove & a turtle. Lots of turtles in the cove and beautiful sunsets from the dock. Kayaks were great and we enjoyed the screened in porch & porch swing & the grill. The boat launch is just around the corner and was a great quiet cove to swim & tube. Only negative was no electrical on the dock so be sure to bring a couple 100ft extension cords. We enjoyed a day trip to Nashville, Venture River Water Park, Patti’s 1880’s Settlement and lots of lake time. Be sure to read the info on the lake if you’re new to the area like we were - what colors of buoys meant & depth maps. Was neat to see the barges go right down the lake. Grocery stores and Walmart is a bit of a drive (30-40 mins) but Dollar General isn’t too far (10 minutes) & the little gas station isn’t far either. Laundry on site was also wonderful. Nice neighbors. Great relaxing vacation!

We enjoyed our stay at Kayak Kottage. This home is in a quiet neighborhood with great lake access. The boat slip is right across from a public access ramp. The small cove is just off the main channel. The driveway had plenty of room for a 26' boat trailer parked down a long the homeand out of the way. The home was clean. The beds were very comfortable. The screened in back deck/porch was a nice morning and evening spot.

The dock was nice with the ladder allowing people to get up and down from the water easily. The decor was spot on and The bed were very comfortable. My husband and I are are disabled and had a difficult time with the front steps due to the uneven brick side walk and the fact that there were no handrails. Overall a beautiful and restful lake house.

We had various ages and interests in our group and we all had a great time. The kayaks for use are a nice bonus. We loved the screened in porch to watch sunrises/sunsets.

The house was very clean, nicely updated, with great lake view. It had a well-stocked kitchen and plenty of linens and basic items - trash bags, hand soaps, dishwasher pods, etc. There was even shampoo and conditioner similar to a hotel. For the coffee drinkers there was a Keurig and regular filter coffee pots.
We used up most of the kitchen counterspace to store our food but there was still enough space to prepare meals. The bathrooms were updated, spacious and very clean. The downstairs bathroom is located inside the master sleeping area.
Our extended family group really enjoyed the sunporch, the provided kayaks, the bbq grill, and the fire pit. The chairs around the fire pit were great for a closer lake view and to watch the kids fish off the dock. There was a porch swing and bistro table on the lower level for those who wanted to get away from the activity.
We were also able use the dock for the pontoon boat rented from nearby Prizer Point Marina.
There is only one television but the WIFI connection was strong enough that the teens were able to watch movies on their devices. We made use of several of the provided games, and we appreciated the large dining table where we could all play and gather for meals.
We were there for a long weekend and did not need the laundry facilities, but they are neatly tucked behind a closet in the smaller downstairs sleeping area.
The land between the lakes area is about a 30 minute drive from the house.

The dock was very easy to get to...no steps. We caught fish off the dock which was fun for the early mornings and early evenings. The kayaks were great for exploring turtles and birds.
We all agreed we would like to return to make more memories!

This was absolutely perfect!! We went on a Sister’s trip. This home is so welcoming and accommodating. We made Reservations at Patties just 30 minutes away and it’s a must!! The neighborhood is so quiet and the view from the Deck in the evenings is amazing!! We will definitely visit again!! The owner is great with communication and so helpful! We stayed in this VRBO over spring break. The lake view was beautiful. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed. The home was very clean. The neighborhood made for great walking and viewing nature. My son was able to ride his bike around the area with little to no traffic safely. We used the kayaks which was a great addition to our stay. Fishing off of the dock was pleasant and provided shade for those warm sunny days. Jeri was very pleasant and very responsive when we experienced storms during our stay. Overall, this was a great vacation home.

Our stay at Kayak cottage was truly fantastic. Jeri, the owner, was very responsive to any question or need that we had, and the questions/needs were minimal because the cottage is so nice!! The access code for the door was easy to use, the cottage was very clean and very comfortable. The back yard to the lake is easy to walk and the upstairs screened in porch was so fun for gathering. We will definitely stay here again!!

We had a family wedding to attend and needed a place to accommodate all of us. The house had plenty of room for everyone. We loved the screened in deck just off of the kitchen, which we spent a lot of time on. The house was very clean and was well stocked with any thing you would want. The beds were comfortable and the 2 full baths were great. The upstairs bath had a step in shower which was nice for the older folks. Kichen was well stocked and the ice maker in the freezer was nice. Very quiet neighborhood and the view at sunset was amazing. We enjoyed sitting around the campfire in the evening and making s'mores. Everyone loved the house and commented on how nice it was. We would definitely come again!

There was 4 of us for a nice little golf and fishing break from the real world. The house was perfect! Good size. We all had our own room. Easy access to the lake as we had brought our own boat. Dock was close. We should be back again next year.

This is a lakefront home on a quiet Cove off the main channel of Lake Barkley. It was the perfect setting for our adult children to gather with a few grand children. Having a private dock was ideal and prizer point Marina allowed us to keep the boat at the dock so we were able to enjoy beautiful sunrise and sunset boat rides. This home is spacious and well-kept with a beautiful screened in porch, fire pit, kayaks, fun for all ages. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home for a a relaxing vacation. Everything was so easy and we will definitely return!

The house was perfect and the location on the lake was magnificent!! Some of us like to fish, some to kayak, some to swim and sunbath, and some to just relax - everyone got what he/she wanted! We hope to return next year!

Our stay was memorable. The house was very functional, up to date and clean. We had 3 couples there and there was plenty of space with a wonderful open kitchen/dinning/living room area for eating and games. The screened in porch was great for morning coffee and sun sets in the evening. The patio was a great place to grill our meals and hang out. We also found the there was great access to the dock with a gentle slope and a short walk. We'll definitely make this an annual destination.

Property was very neat, clean and well maintained. Note if have boat or jet skis don't use cleat had rain and waves and cleat broke and my jet ski ended up on rocks with damage.

We just got back from our stay at Kayak Cottage. It was perfect! It was exactly as shown in the listing. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would ever need. We loved the 3 season porch! I spent lots of time reading out there while admiring the beautiful views. We would not hesitate to stay again!
