Excellent

I book The Hide regularly for work and colleagues, and everyone loves staying there. It is clean, comfortable, and excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Don't be fooled by the advertisement, I'm definitely not recommending this place.

Nothing.

The advertisement is beautifu to lure you to book but the live reality of the place is appalling. I booked and paid but upon my arrival my self-respect wouldn't allow me to sleep in a filthy and shady place. I checked the available rooms but there was no way that I would sleep in this place. I immediately booked another alternative and better place. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I was fooled by the advertisement and I made a mistake of not reading the reviews.

It was a fair stay . I just didn't like the electricity situation and slow wifi.

The staff was friendly and always willing to assist where needed.

I had no electricity for my first stay at the airbnb . I had to wash with cold water early in the morning because they only came to fix the electricity midday which created delayed alot of my appointments. I also didnt the lack of communication with regards to the electricity situation. The bedding wasn't clean nor were the tables . I didn't like that the show head was very faulty .

Great find in Johannesburg North. Minor issues don't eclipse overall great stay

Value for money. However I wish the information on rates being more expensive Friday to Saturday than Sun to Thursday was evidently shared with guests who have to extend their stay past Thursday.

Pity some guests and staff were having loud conversations( no matter the hour) in parking area/hallway/courtyard without anyone aware to correct the other.

The booking in process was a mad scramble to find the "Manageress". The Gardener eventually allocated a room for me. The Manageress arrived and pointed to a cupboard that was supposed to contain coffee, sugar etc. There was none. No milk was supplied either. A young girl barged into my room not long after I had booked in and washed her hands in my kitchenette while I was on the toilet. I understood that she may not have realised that I had occupied the room. I asked her politely, at first, why she was in there. I was ignored while she finished up and left a soaking dish towel on the counter! I eventually yelled at her to get out. Worse was to come! I went out for the evening and arrived back at about 21h00 to find a young, shirtless man yelling and screaming at his mother in the driveway, only metres from my room. The drunken/drugged performance carried on for another hour outside my window while the mother sat smoking on the driveway, accompanied by the "Manageress". They were clearly permanent residents (Or even the owners) of the property. There was absolutely no concern for my being there or hearing all their domestic issues. I might as well have been a pot plant! In conclusion: The main door to the property was left open all night with a fake lock on the entrance gate. The only protection and security between me and Johannesburg was my flimsy room door. With the deranged young man on the property and no regard for security I felt very unsafe. The property is also on a main road and probably very vulnerable. I have left out another few irritations for the risk of sounding like a whiner. I will NOT recommend this place!

Not worth the rate

The lady Patience was amazing....she waited until late on Saturday night to open the gate, towels and bedding was clean and smelled fresh...

This place is nothing spectacular, the room is small, no table or a chair, no back up inventor during loadshedding for the wifi...you basically sit in the dark with nothing to do but sleep....the place has a hostel atmosphere...lots of noise and loud music from some of the tenants...don't forget your headphones or earplugs if you really want to stay here...there is no place outside to sit or read a book...the curtain is basically almost see tru....for the price it's really not worth it..they should charge R350 per night instead of R500....no remote or keypad pin to go in and out of the place, you have to go look or call Patience....it's pathetic....they have Netflix, but YouTube us standard with all the annoying adverts....for the money they make they could install Premium...the room l stayed in Room 8....the headboard and draws are falling apart....the clothes cupboard is extremely small, no travel bag will fit in there....l for one will never return there...the owners whoever they are no nothing about the hospitality industry.

Disappointing

The environment looks clean

Was expecting to be placed in a room with kitchen so we can prepare meal instead we get a room with a microwave freedge I did not like the welcome, being placed in a room without TV, then being moved later, our room was not cleaned till we left, the were ants throughout, bathroom handle was broken, there was just a lot that was not right for our stay, the hostess she didn't even check if all was well, I had to call someone who's not in the yard so they can call for us......

Good but could be better

The room was great and the staff was exceptional.

The room has a TV but basically doesn't work unless you have you own subscription to one of the Apps on the TV. The wifi does not work at all, the network was so poor that I had to use my own router - they should remove it from the list of offered facilities.

The stay was so comforatble

The showers were bad they leaked very badly. The noise from other guests coming in the early hours of the morning was abit disturbing aswell

No towels in the room, it was hot. No air conditioning and curtains were not ironed, the lace was torn

Lovely location and comfortable place

The property is great , and comfortable The ladies who own/ manage the place are also very friendly it’s in a great location with shops nearby

During load shedding , the property doesn’t provide lights or candles so you basically have to rely on your phone until the electricity comes back

Rumbi is gave my family and I a great reception. She was super friendly and helpful I like the fact that the room had everything that we needed,even a stove.
