Kalanikai is located in the heart of historical Kailua Village. It is a short walk to the Kailua Pier, the start and finish of the World Championship Ironman. This beautifully remodeled one bedroom- one bath condo allows for modern comfort in an Island-paced community with a fully remodeled kitchen and bath. Kalanikai unit 303 features all tile flooring, full-size washer and dryer and queen-size bed. A large window ac in the living room helps to keep the condo cool. In addition, this unit features a built-in full-sized pull out bed for guests. A furnished lanai with ocean views is the perfect spot to sip coffee and take in the view of downtown Kona and the ocean. Kalanikai recently upgraded their wifi to fiber optic for super high speed service. Outdoors at the Kalanikai, you'll find a lovely sparkling pool for swimming tucked into the center of the complex. The pool and BBQ area is surrounded by lush landscaping and is protected by the noise of every day life, making the guest feel like they are in their own private oasis. Picnic tables and lounge chairs invite guests to hang out for a while. Kalanikai is a short distance to the Kailua Pier, start and finish of the famous Ironman race. It should be noted that this unit is on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator. Kona offers access to Hawaii's best scuba diving, big-game fishing, kayaking, and dolphin and whale watching. Visit the famous farmers market. Enjoy a shave ice or a cup of Kona coffee. Dine on a light snack or a gourmet meal, buy an inexpensive souvenir or a piece of fine art, book an activity, go for a swim or hang out at the beach. Everything you want and need is readily available in the heart of Kailua Kona town. Kalanikai is conveniently located near numerous attractions on the Big Island of Hawaii including, Volcano National Park and Mauna Kea Observatory. The unit was fine, overall, though the street noise is quite remarkable if you're used to a quieter location. Hard to control that, of course! I would have preferred a door on the bathroom, too. A privacy thing, you know!

Every aspect of the stay was perfect.
From the start, communication with Tracy was excellent. Response time was always fast and answers clear and precise. Check-in and check-out instructions were clear and easy to follow.
Access to the place was easy and the location is perfect; a few blocks from downtown Kona while also close to supermarkets.
Entering the property was easy with the provided door code. The place was exactly as described. The condo was clean and smelled clean. The condo has everything one needs and everything was functional (appliances, AC unit, ceiling fans, etc). The lanai is a great bonus, although the noise from the street can be bothersome at times but nothing to affect my impression of the place.
The pool and common BBQ area is great and well kept. The pool was clean, never really busy, and a nice way to relax at the end of the day.
All in all, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay there again.

The unit is large, the rooms are spacious. The condo has gone through a complete renovation/rehab featuring tile floors and quartz countertops. The appliances are new/state of the art. Its stocked with just about every conceivable utensil an amateur chef would need. It has a screened in lanai with a view of downtown Kona and a distant view of the ocean and Mauna Loa. Never had to use the A/C as there is a cross breeze through the unit. Its on the third floor of a large building made of prestressd concrete and cinder blocks which means its very quiet. There's no elevator so someone with mobility issues might have a concern, however, the stairs are open air and close to the unit. The rental agents are cordial and very helpful.

This place was cozy, neat, and clean. We did not rent a car — short walks to grocery store, beach, restaurants, historic locations, etc. were all easy to get to. I loved the bath tub :) Nice view of the ocean, accommodations are modern and comfortable. It is true that the condo is on the third floor as others have noted and it's a bit of a haul with your luggage, so plan for that. Road noise was an occasional issue, but with the fans running it pretty much provided a white noise that blocked that out. We had a lovely stay here and would definitely consider returning to this property.

Very nice large rental unit which has been well looked after. Very clean with attractive decor. Fantastic amenities and location and we were able to see the ocean too. Conveniently close to many attractions.
However, as this unit directly fronts onto Kuakini Hwy, while on the balcony outside with the lanai door open, the noise from this heavily travelled roadway was annoying, especially from vehicles that had mufflers modified. If you don't mind traffic noise, this is the place for you.
Otherwise we had an enjoyable stay.

The accommodations were fabulous, incredibly clean and appeared to be newly remodeled. The kitchen was very well equipped. Sand toys available to use. The condo is Walking distance to a beach, shops and dining.
On the unfortunate side the street noise is very loud and at times distracts from the serenity of sitting out on the Lanai for visiting and meals.
This was the most frustrating for us, someone(s) were smoking on a lower floor which wafted into the condo, this forced us to close the glass doors and turn off the cooler as it pulled more of the smoke in. We contacted the on-sight manager but we were told nothing could be done unless we actually saw the person, thus he was not able to resolve.

Really nice, absolutely clean and very well equipped condo. In the centre of Kona, close to everything you need. Just a bit noisy because if that. We totally enjoyed our stay there.

We enjoyed our stay. There were basics in the kitchen and bathroom for our use. They also had items available to use at the beach. It was in walking distance to central Kona.
The responsiveness of the property management was exceptional.
We will definitely stay there again on our next visit.

Mostly great.
It's a comfortable place to stay with easy access to everything. Did not know we were on the third floor without elevator. The road noise is a drag with late night AND early morning noise as room is between a road and parking lots. Garbage truck is super early too, but the beautiful birds singing in the morning is exquisite!

We loved staying here! It has extended beyond our expectations and it has everything that we needed. This condo is very neat and well maintained inside. The location is very convenient getting to places in downtown and several great snorkeling spots! We definitely will be back soon!
