Our hostess, Eileen, was excellent as the 6 of us converged on the Retreat on Lake Lanier. She was very responsive to our communications, even allowing us to get into the house a little earlier. This is the second Thanksgiving we have been here and it was as we would expect: very clean throughout the house, bedrooms made up very nicely with lots of towels and amenities in the bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen is a great size to fit all the cooks and all the utensil that we needed were there for our use. The dinning space fit all of us and the Thanksgiving meal.Due to the time of year we did not get to the lake, so cannot relate any experiences on that. The family visit was a big success in large part to all the attention to details, for that we are very grateful.

Let me start with the positives. Easy check-in, clean, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen. Fun dishes, great appliances, nice fire pit and plenty of parking. It’s obvious in the house a lot of thought was placed in it as a rental property. Sadly, the outside doesn’t reflect that same attention to detail. The neglect for the outdoor area around the house and down at the dock greatly disappointed my family who traveled to vacation and relax. Dirty and I mean dirty, dirty floats, dirty kayaks, dirty/damaged/missing chair cushions, dirty grill (the drip pan needs emptying to keep it from flaring up while cooking) And just overall clutter outdoors took away from our experience in what we hoped would be an enjoyable and relaxing weekend. We spent a lot of time cleaning the areas to attempt to use them. In terms of safety - the missing steps down to the shoreline at the very bottom is dangerous and the slippery path straight down is strenuous even for the fittest. I’m not sure if there’s a whole section of the dock missing (there was a pile of old wood that looked like it might be once a part of it)but it was obvious that there had not been recent activity or attention to anything down at the lake/dock area. Which is sad as we rented the place specifically for lake access to enjoy the water and Georgia sunshine for two days and could not. Hence, our decision to leave a day early and find something else. If you’re going for lake access and outdoor fun, look elsewhere.

The house was great! Had ample space for everyone staying with us. Kitchen had everything we needed. Super easy check-in process and Elaine was great to communicate with and answer any questions I had before arrival. The walk to the dock is quite long and steep. 5 stars all around-would stay again!

Overall this is a nice property. The kitchen amenities in particular really stood out as the best our two families have ever experienced at a rental property! Elaine the property manager is also great, as is the handy man who promptly took care of a minor issue at the house. But the walk to, and especially back from, the lake is a doozy, and nothing in the property description comes close to saying what it's really like. There is a VERY steep incline down, most of which is just a dirt path, and it takes several minutes to get to the dock. There are also several loose boards and steps on the final stairway down. Young children or anyone with mobility issues would have a very hard time navigating the path, and it's not a situation where you can quickly run back up to the house if you forget something. But with that said, the house itself is quite nice, spacious, and very comfortable.

We enjoyed the truly “home” feeling here. The owner went above and beyond in providing supplies and amenities, like S’mores ingredients for the kids. Kitchen had everything a family would need. It wasn’t situated as close to the lake as I had hoped, but the walking trail access was well maintained. Property manager Elaine was very courteous and gave us detailed information about the home and things to do in the area. Overall a very satisfying rental experience.
