Wonderful cozy ocean home.
We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!
The deck is impressive!
Great to soak in the hot tub while watching life in the ocean take place daily.
It’s forever changing!
Thank you!
We’ll be back!

We have been renting this house once or twice a year for the past twelve or thirteen years. We’ve celebrated many birthdays and anniversaries here. Yes, it is somewhat dated, but that’s the ambiance and character of the house. It’s comfortable and clean. The knives and pots and pans have been upgraded and the microwave is new. The unobstructed view is spectacular. It’s just a short walk down the hill to Doran Beach. Morning coffee in the hot tub is special.

Start with the good, great view and hot water was hot. So the bad, dirty clothes left from a previous guest filling 3 drawers, dead bugs on the beds, filthy refrigerator that didn’t have the water or ice hooked up, dishwasher coated in grime, dishes needed to be wash before we used them (after we cleaned the dishwasher), bbq grill with old chicken stuck on it and layers of old food, spider webs and dust, and a hot tub that after seeing the condition of the rest of the house we decided not to chance. If there had been anywhere else to go locally we would have, but it was Labor Day Weekend and from what I’ve read VRBO is very difficult to get a refund from.
We contacted multiple times VRBO with photos and received multiple times a canned response of something along “Sorry you’re upset, we’ll contact the local VRBO staff” and that’s where that went. One visit from local VRBO who agreed that the lock was broken but didn’t have a new one, looked at the grill and agreed it was nasty, and took the bag of dirty clothes to the local office. And as I write this review, still no real answer to our issues from VRBO.

I am beginning with the positive. The interior architecture and view are extraordinary. The beds, bedrooms, baths, and linens are comfortable and appropriate. The house EXCEPT for the kitchen was clean.
We are cooks and I am a former restaurateur. Many of the kitchen appliances and grill were broken and not working properly. The refrigerator ice maker and filtered water were not functioning. No water filtering pitcher was provided as ALWAYS has been my experience during the past six years of stays in Bodega Bay with local property managers, Bodega Bay Escapes and Bodega Bay and Beyond. The refrigerator temperature setting was off. Our farmstand produce froze. The property management texted at 3:30 a.m. on my last morning to say that it had been tested with a thermometer. This was not true! We adjusted it ourselves with a thermometer. The dishwasher door did not stay open and had pink bacteria growing across the bottom. The dishes needed to be prewashed in order to become clean. I DON'T go on vacation to wash dishes! The barbecue grill thermometer was missing and the electric ignition was nonfunctional. I was told that the grill was not a listed amenity of the house. The televisions were difficult to operate and required my son to input his own cable subscriptions. There were no cable instructions to be found. The large beautiful fireplace required only manufactured logs which cost me $100.
The customer service staff did NOTHING to solve any issues of my $9000+ stay!

I booked this house for my husbands 40th birthday and we went up with our two young kids. The layout of the house and the location is great. We thoroughly enjoyed going down to Doran beach, and it was easy to get to from the house.
Unfortunately, from the second day onwards, it was quite unpleasant to be in the house. There was a putrid sleep that started to permeate from the master bathroom and into the master bedroom. We could not figure out what would be the cause, but it smelt like sewage water.
The smell was so unpleasant that by the last night we had to sleep on the couch - not a comfortable night. We considered leaving early but with two small kids, it was too difficult to pack everything up when trying to get our children to sleep.
I had such high hopes for our trip, but the unpleasant smell made it hard for us to enjoy being inside the house.

Amazing place for a family with young children. There were family friendly dishes and accommodations. We loved the house and rustic beach feel. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This was our fourth time returning to this home. There are so many reason we keep coming back. The views, location, bedrooms, hot tub, and property managers are all great! Looking forward to the next time we can return.

The view and the back porch are the only redeeming quality of this house. For a stay that was $750 a night, this house lacks the proper amenities and cleanliness levels. Broken appliances -no fridge/ filter water or ice, smelly very old dishwasher, half of toaster broken. ONE wine glass (seriously?), and only 6 glass glasses total all a mix of types (daquari, champagne, ext.) all if which were dirty and had to be washed before use. 6 forks, meaning you are washing them for each meal. Bathroom flooded when it rained. Half of outdoor furniture was missing cushions, ripped rugs. Bird poop everywhere on deck and not addressed by the cleaning crew. I could go on. Sent messages to Vacasa who were no help. Great location with poor management and insufficient quality for rate- book a different home in this neighborhood.

The location was great as well as the view of the ocean/bay, but the house is in need of deferred maintenance, which lowered the rating. The master bed was uncomfortable and the 3rd bedroom would be better served with a larger bed rather than a twin/trundle. The dishwasher was in bad shape (stains, smells) so we did not use it at all. The wifi was pretty weak and kept going out on us. Also, the hot tub temperature was turned down so we had to wait to use it until we could get the temp up. With some updating, I would stay here again, but in it's current state, I would find other accommodations in the area.

The only good thing about this rental was the view. The home is extremely dated, shabby, dirty and with most appliances old, dirty or not working. There is no central heat working and the kitchen was not usable to prepare meals - At night we heard rodents running around and there were live and dead bugs in the house and in cabinets. We paid over $600 per night - What a rip-off. We called the Vacasa district manager to complain but she never returned our calls. We also texted and called the Vacasa support line about the heat and other issues and a handyman came out on day 2 only to say that yes the heat wasn’t working and to use the space heaters left behind - He also didn’t have the correct batteries for the fan and light in the main room and said the house should be removed from inventory as it was unsafe. The owner should spend some money on much needed improvements. Vacasa through Marriott Homes and Villas should both be ashamed to have this rental in their portfolio. We want our money and Marriott points returned and refunded

Big nice windows, but were stained or not cleaned very good for viewing the beautiful ocean.

There was 5 ladies then there was 2. Rats were in the kitchen, rats on the roof, windows needed cleaned, by the hot tub loose board someone fell .Sorry but maybe the actual owners should know about the people renting and cleaning this place.

Great location and property. Everything was just as advertised. Fantastic views from the back deck looking out over the bay. Nice relating location with easy access to the beaches and scenery of Sonoma Coast and short drive to wineries within Sonoma county.

This was the worse house we have ever rented. Everything is run down. We fought mice /rats every night. They were in the kitchen, master bathroom, and laundry room. VACASA, to their credit, sent some one on day 2 to set traps but it didn’t help. There were many places where the rodents left evidence of their evening activities. We couldn’t stand it and left early from our planned eight day stay. The kitchen is terrible. Dishwasher is dirtier than the dish you put in. Installed microwave doesn’t work and was replace with a tiny one. Kitchen knifes were so dull they were dangerous to use. Pots and pans were old. Cooking utensils are a joke. Bed linens are worn out. It wouldn’t be so bad if we were paying $125 a night but at over $562 a night, we expect top quality accommodations and amenities. I think VACASA should delist this property or risk damaging their reputation.

If sitting and watching the ocean waves, the fog roll out and the sun set, this is your place. The bedroom layout is great for privacy: with the master on one side and other 2 beds on the other. Cooking is challenging with older pots and appliances, but visit hotel next door for take out, fire pit there outside to watch the sunset too.

We enjoyed the spaciousness of the family room and the big deck outside. We were there with family with small children and it worked well to be in a single story home. The neighborhood was quiet.
We had major issues with the dishwasher which didn’t work well and looked filthy inside. We were told someone would come but they never did. We also would’ve appreciated a manual or some instructions on the hot tub.

Relaxing and Comfortable
This house gets 5 stars for the beautiful view, comfortable beds and really wonderful porch. My daughter and I loved staying here with her puppy. However, the house needs a lot of TLC, which is why I downgraded to 4 stars.

What a View
From the moment we step into the home, I knew we hit the jackpot with this rental. There were no surprises as to the interior of the home. The home felt very comfortable and relaxing. The decorations were very beach-like and the views from every room were superb. The focal point of this rental was the expansive deck area, which included a secluded and private jacuzzi, with again, a very nice view. The grass area just off the deck was a pleasant amenity to the incredible view of the landscape and Bay. I have not encountered many rentals at Bodega Bay that have the luxury of this non-obstructive view with the greenbelt that this home offers which in my estimation is what Bodega Bay is all about. My family spent a huge amount of time on the deck with Scrabble and card games largely in part due to the sunshine and BBQ's every night.
We are looking for another mini vacation in different areas of Northern California, such as Santa Cruz or Monterey, but end up defaulting back to this rental.
That is a true testimonial of how incredible this home is for a vacation of any length.

The home is in a perfect setting - the view is spectacular and an easy walk to the beach. The dishwasher was not the best so we cleaned everything before using. Primary bedroom is good, but the other 2 don't have dressers, just wood shelfs so we couldn't really unpack. Not a 5 star home but the setting and location made for a great week visiting with the kids.
