The house is on several private acres of land overlooking the ocean and separated from the highway by abundant foliage. A large lanai runs along the ocean side of the house and was where we spent most of our time chatting and just watching the rainbows and ever-changing sky and ocean (we never turned the tv on).

The property makes you feel like you are in a more authentic Hawaii.. there is plenty of space around you (6.5 acres!) with a ocean front view from most rooms in the house. It was great base to go down to Hilo to eat, explore the Hamakua area.. which is lush green and a very different scene than the east side.. we loved the tropical views, the infrequent rains and the ultra blue clear skies. The house has everything you need to hang out and a very nice kitchen to cook and lanai to eat and enjoy the dramatic views. Overall, highly recommended!

Kailani Villa is absolutely beautiful. It was so peaceful to sit out on the patio overlooking the property and the ocean. It's quiet and secluded, but only about a 15-20 minute drive to Hilo. The property was very spacious and the kitchen was well stocked with almost every utensil and appliance you could need. We were 4 adults and 1 teen and had plenty of room with the 3 large bedrooms with 3 bathrooms that were well stocked with towels and toiletries and a huge office space. We had a washer/dryer was at our disposal. There was a formal dining room as well as a dining area on the patio, so there was so much space to stretch out. The view was completely breathtaking. The host was very communicative and quick to respond when we had issues like no TV and the WI-FI. He had a TV delivered and boosted the wi-fi strength The only issue was that the wi-fi was still weak and we were unable to stream to the TV. There is no AC but there were fans in all the rooms and with the sliding doors and windows open, we had the breeze off the ocean, so AC wasn't really needed. I would definitely rent this property again when staying in the area. If the pool was working, this property would have been perfect.
