Our stay at the Pelican House was awful to say the least. Starting with the check-in process: I was able to open the initial gated door with the provided code, then couldn’t open the house door using the same code. I kept getting red flashing lights when I would enter the code, which then eventually lead to no lights turning on. Luckily, I was able to enter the house using the back door. After alerting Vacasa about the issue with the front door, the customer service rep "made a ticket" for the issue and said someone would be sent to fix the matter. About 30 minutes later, I received a voicemail from a local Vacasa rep who insinuated that it might've been “user error” that the lock wasn’t working or maybe I was even “at the wrong house because I was on vacation and wasn’t familiar with the area”. I am honestly offended that she immediately thought I was not capable of finding an address or following instructions that were sent to me prior to check-in. I was obviously able to use the code to get through the initial gate door, wasn't I? After having some time to settle into the house, we found short dog hair all over the duvets on the 3 king beds. We reached out to inform the Vacasa team of the dog hair and when they asked if we wanted people to come to “take care of it”, I replied “yes” and there was no follow-up. We were expecting the rest of our guests later that day and we ended up hand lint rolling the hairs off before their arrival (I also have pictures of this). In the shared full bathroom (there were only 2 full baths in the entire house), there was a used wash rag that had dried up yellow on the shampoo rack. Clearly the shower was not cleaned. On our first night, we lost electricity to half of the house leaving 2 king rooms, 1 full bathroom, the dishwasher and various outlets without power. 9 women had to trade outlets to charge our phones and use appliances. We searched the house for the breaker and attempted to reset it ourselves without any success in regaining electricity. I spent the entire second day trying to communicate with Vacasa to have the electricity restored. It is very important to mention that communication with Vacasa is a NIGHTMARE. You will never be able to reach someone directly because your calls and texts go to a centralized customer service rep first. I was the one constantly reaching out without any resolution. In conclusion: we never got the electricity back on, nor has anyone reached out. STILL!

I wasn’t too sure where to stay for a bachelor party and this house turned out to be perfect. It was a great location to walk to many restaurants and bars. The house was clean and it was also easy cleanup when we packed up and left.

We enjoyed our stay at Pelican Place. We enjoyed having 5 rooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 half baths for our large family! Older place with nice updates. Beds were comfy if soft, bedding wonderfully soft. The place was clean. There is no A/C (or it didn’t work) but the weather was good. We loved the pool—great for a celebration and large family gathering. BBQ worked great. There was only one bathroom with an electrical outlet even though they provided 3 hair dryers! The bathroom window screen was knocked out and allowed mosquitoes to enter. Rosecrans is a loud SUPER busy street. We had to close the windows because of the noise in 4 bedrooms. Too bad because it was warm and we wanted them open.

The house was a nice house. First entering, it feels inviting. We had stayed with several people in the house for a baby shower and everyone said the beds were comfortable. We would have 12 people in the house at at time during the day and it never felt cramped at all in the house. The backyard bench and table is nice to relax and eat in the lovely San Diego weather, along with a propane grill and a hot tub to relax in. If you want to eat out, there are plenty of options to eat at within walking distance of a block or two from the house as well! The driveway looks deceiving in size, but you can fit 2 cars in there with room to spare and not hit each other. We had a mini-van and a full sized SUV and were able to park easily in it. The house is located right off a main road, so depending on the time of day, you may have to wait a bit to fully back out of the driveway and get going, but it was never anything horrible or longer than a minute or two. Also, since it is San Diego, there is no A/C in the house, just a lot of ceiling fans, so check the weather, if there is a heat wave, I suggest also bringing your own fan to help keep yourselves cool. You can leave the front door open with screen door closed to let some air in, but than you also have the noise of the street traffic too. Worst case, more of a reason to jump in the pool to cool off. The staff at Vacasa were quick to respond to any inquiry/question I had via text message throughout my stay. Overall if you are coming to San Diego and looking for a big house to hold up to 12 people, this is a great choice! I highly recommend it.
