It was ok. Maid service was daily, which is nice but bathroom perpetually smelled strongly of mildew. One window refused to stay closed. The elevators were not all working. We were told to use the service elevators which was ok except when everything smelled of garbage or when we needed to be at a rehearsal and they were all tied up with the workers (who were just trying to do their job). If this had been an America’s Best Value I would have expected this but the Park Central is expensive and honestly we expected a LOT better.

The first 2 rooms did not have working air conditioning.but the 3rd one was great!! Unfortunately, I did not get a shower curtain until the 3rd day there. The elevators are being overhauled and the wait for an elevator was up to 12 minutes to get from the room to the lobby. we took the service elevators as often as we could. Prime location and quick to Carnegie Hall where I was performing.

Your hotel is very good … run well…
Our room was very cramped but clean
Biggest concern was your elevators that were not working.

The service and location is wonderful. However the rooms get hot sometimes even with the AC on.

The service from the get was terrible. Our room wasnt ready when we arrived and we arrived well after check-in time. The front desk rep left and had us waiting at the front for about a half an hour with a long line behind us. We had no toilet paper in our bathroom. We had to call down 3 times before they brought some up. Above all, the elevator experience was a mess. Only one elevator working and so had long delays and lines trying to get to your room. The funny thing is I read previous reviews and they said the same thing about the elevators at the hotel. I just thought it would be fixed by the time we got there. I probably wont go back.

Great place within walking distance of Central Park, they only had one working elevator for the whole hotel which had you waiting for long periods of time.

Wait for the elevator was horribly long

Staff was helpfull and always glad. One of the elevators had service and was shut down but its good that they have mantenance.

The hotel is very nice however, the lack of functional elevators to accommodate the amount of guest traffic can throw off your entire days schedule. We waited for 20 minutes for an elevator in the morning, with one working elevator and 26 floors, it is impossible to accommodate all the guests who are staying to tour the city.

The hotel overall is good and very well located. However, every time you arrive or leave you need to plan for a long wait of the elevator, which was very inconvenient and annoying. They even made service elevator available but wasn’t enough and there was always a long wait. Also AC didn’t work for a couple of nights and then they fixed and reception also has lines and some wait.

Good, quick service at a very good location. Large and convenient rooms. Drawbacks were the waiting for elevators.

Someone came out our room while we’re in it without really knocking on the door. That is unacceptable. Elevators were out of service and made it a pain.

For starts, to have to line up for over 10 minutes as they only had one elevator, and were forced to use the service elevator which are a dump is the first thing that is not acceptable..
Second, and most important... to have to pay a "Destination Fee" for lining up every time you wanted to go in and out of the hotel due to the elevator being serviced? Someone at Hotels.com should have advised this matter and given us the opportunity to find another hotel.
Now, last but not least, I went to the bar to ask for 2 glasses of wine so I could open a bottle of wine in my room, as per instructions from the front desk, and they told me it was hotel policy not to lend glasswear, and offered me plastic cups.. My husband is a wine producer,,,, it was insulting.
I spoke to the Front Desk Manager on checkout and told him this is insulting and ridiculous.. $250 a night and you can't lend glasswear?
I will take this matter to the Better Business Bureau of New York, to the Small Claims Court if necessary as they still charged me the "Destination Fee" which I wanted waived due to the problems I encountered.
Don't stay at this hotel until they fix the elevators and if you want a glass of wine, buy a couple of glasses out there...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. On the first day of check-in, the key card was unable to enter the room. I went down to contact the front desk and made a new key card, but when I got to the room I still couldn't enter. And I learned that the room had not been cleaned from housekeeping. I came down again through the Front Desk to change the room.. Expressing an unwilling apology made her look tired. In addition, this hotel's elevator system was damaged. Can be used only one time at a time. which is not convenient at all.

Great location between Time Square and Central Park. Theaters in walking distance subway access and many restaurants to walk to.
The hotel advertises a restaurant this is false.
The do have limited hours in the lounge but no food.

Positive things - location, near the metro and central park, lots of options for food, fast but limited elevators, fast check in check out
Negative things - no complimentary drinks even water, safe was not working we called twice for manintanence no one care that, as a gold member hotels.com i asked for late check out they asked 90$ as an extra charging, noisy rooms because of not renovated windows and doors. The carpets need to change too… but overall that’s safe and nice i’d stay here again for couple of days

The second elevator was down as it was being upgraded. It was not acceptable for the wait times to get up and down from one’s room. There were 2 elevators servicing the 19-25 floors. I am sure 1 of them could have been used for the majority of the guests had the hotel decided to use it for such.
The room was just okay. Broken toilet paper holder, was afraid the shower control would also fall apart, and the room faced the other side of the hotel so it was dark and dismal even though it was sunny and beautiful outside.

Excellent location, close to main attractions and public transport. Customer service wasn't bad, reception could do a bit better to be a bit more friendlier at times... Depends who you talk to.

This hotel is beautiful, we got to check in early. The elevators are a bit slow but that’s to be expected, most hotels in the city have that issue. Spacious room!

I did not like using the service elevator. You have to fix the elevators as quickly as possible!

The elevator situation was terrible. Fortunately we stayed on the fifth floor so we could use the stairs without much effort or inconvenience. However there are what appears to be 4 elevators on two different elevator banks per floor. However in each set of four only one elevator was working for our floor. This lead to severe wait times and delays especially when traveling with our suitcases and we couldn’t take stairs comfortably. This should have been told to us prior to booking or before the cancelation window as this could have been a major inconvenience. No accommodation was provided for this or a discount as it did challenge the experience. Location was good and staff was friendly when we needed to interact.

Park Central is in a great location but poor on service offerings for guests. The building, carpet etc are run down. While an elevator upgrade is taking place, there are only two elevators in use causing long lines and long wait times going up and down. No room service - a very small and expensive selection at a shop in the lobby. Housekeeping staff bangs on the door at 8am sharp asking to clean. Not a pleasant experience.

Had to switch rooms because the bathroom was dirty and not all elevators were working. Takes over 10 minutes every morning for to get into an elevator. Ask to switch my credit card on my second day and was told I can do it on checkout. During checkout I was told the system is down and they can’t switch the credit card.

Right now, Park Central Hotel is undergoing elevator repairs. There was only one elevator available and I we had to take the service elevator each day. Thankfully we knew about this alternative, while others stood in a very long line. The room (648) we were given was dark with only one corner standing land - with no lamp on the nightstand in between the double beds. We requested a lamp that was never delivered. My girlfriend and I requested to split the hotel bill while checking in, but we were advised to wait until checkout. My credit card was charged the entire bill and the manager could not reverse the charge during checkout. This hotel is so well located, but I think it's time to find a better hotel in midtown.

The rooms were spacious and very comfortable.
There is construction going on, so only one elevator was working. If all the elevators are up there would be no issues.

The elevators were small. There was only one available on each side of the lobby. That made it very slow to go up or down. We were on the 6th floor. The down elevator was often full when it reached our floor. We took the stairs when we were in a hurry. Stairs are difficult for me because of my knees.
Everyone was helpful and polite. Nice stay except for the elevator.

AC was not working, and there was only one elevator working at once. There was a lot of waiting to get to your room.

It is absolutely not acceptable that 3 out 4 elevators are in maintenance, even with additional use of the service elevator 30 min waiting time were normal for every up and down!!! I checked out earlier as time is too short for wasting so much time.

Reservations for 2 rooms for Mar 2024 were confirmed in Nov 2023. Upon check in I was advised that they were sold out. Honestly, not my problem as I had my confirmation email ready. I was told they had one room assigned to me, that was resolved quickly as the 2nd room was under my sister’s name. Biggest issue was the lack of functioning elevators. Signs were posted on the room floors to use the service elevator. Would I book here again? The answer is simply, no, I would not.

It was great for the price

Elevators are being replaced so the wait was long. No ice in the ice maker. Small store closes very early in the day. Water bottle fill station does not work in the gym.

While the recent renovations for the elevators shows that this hotel is responsive to previous customers' complaints, it is evident that the building is beyond capacity. I prepared myself by reading previous guests' reviews but I can understand how these inconveniences can surprise the frazzled tourist. That being said, the early check-in time helped me avoid the worst of the elevator traffic.
The rooms were clean except for a musty smell that lingered from the restroom into the bed area despite seeing (and hearing) a very active maid service in the halls.
I did not appreciate the mandatory "upgrading" fee to cover the use of the office center, gym, etc. The fee should not have applied to guests who didn't need or want to use any of those services, especially when the hotel is struggling to accommodate guests' basic needs.
Overall, it was alright for a 1-2 night stay where the hotel ambiance isn't imperative to the enjoyment of my vacation.

Check in was rude, but I am used to that. Elevators, supposedly under construction, were horribly slow as always. Room was in inside courtyard, totally dark regardless of the real weather, and unable to get a phone or wifi signal. Bathroom was dirty.

Terrible elevator situation- long waits every time - hosts large number of young people tours and doesn’t monitor noise when called to deal with it

The drain in the shower was green & yellow and very gross to look at. The elevators weren't working so it was a fight to get onto the elevators after waiting 10-15 minutes for it to come to your floor most of the time you couldn't even get on because there was no space. Lastly, parking available is an exaggeration. They have a parking lot three and a half blocks away that cost $65 for one night of parking. They also add a travel fee of $45 a night on top of the cost of the room so you will end up paying another $100 on top of room cost with parking and "travel fee"

Of the 2 elevators. 1 was out and you had to wait for 5 minutes to get an elevator. It was easier to walk up and down the staircase. The cleaning staff were very nice. The air in the room didn't work and the sign said between certain months the heater would be set at a certain temperature. P

Terrific location across the street from Carnegie Hall. Easy walk to Times Square, Lincoln Square, Central Park, shopping and restaurants. The hotel is quite large and the rooms are decently sized. The bathroom was a bit musty with some small mildew stains. Unfortunately two of the lobby elevators were inoperable. Seems like this is a long-term issue and the service elevators are now available for guest use. We wanted a place close to Carnegie Hall and specific restaurants. This hotel was perfectly situated.

Challenging problems with elevators and tv. Staff were very positive and helpful. Everyone we met. That made it very pleasant!

One elevator working, problem with the heater, maintenance came twice to readjust the thermostat.

The elevator situation can be maddening. They are apparently working on it. Not sure of eta for fix. Location is good. Lobby is dark. Clerks not friendly nor helpful. No info provided for things to do or places to eat. No room service. Room phone hasn’t an option to speak to desk. Guests on our floor were extremely noisy/rude. Sirens and other traffic noise was bad on the 4th floor. Location is convenient to food and museums.
