Stayed at wild dunes Feb 20-22 on a house hunting trip. Stayed 2 nights. Paid extra resort fees as I wanted a bit of luxury as house hunting is stressful. Can’t believe they called this a resort. Started with poor directions to boardwalk hotel from gate. No one at front desk at 5 pm. Rickety elevator that barely worked. Hardly a resort, less than a courtyard. No room service! Dusty clocks and phone. No answer when calling guest services. Had to pay extra for water! Although promised an area filled with restaurants, only the 2 hotel restaurants were open. I had 2 meals and each over 75.00 plus fees. Then charged resort fees. This should not be called a resort. It’s an old hotel in need of updating. And was charged 35.00 parking fee, even though it was advertised as 25.00.

No Handicap parking close, charge to park in garage, asked for ADA room and was put on Third floor.
6.0
Most of the restaurants at the property were closed. The others were very expensive.
8.0
Housekeeping was inconsistent and the ADA rooms needs updating with more convenient accessories.

hotel understaffed, long check in, no ability to order amenities from housekeeping. be wary of the undisclosed resort fee.

Our stay was great. Property, staff and proximity to beach were fantastic. We were disappointed by the lack of food selection (menu items) and amount of food provided given the high price. If we didn’t go back it would be because of the food not the facilities.

We had an enjoyable stay. The food was good. However, the prices for everything were too expensive. We probably will not go back. We’re seniors with limited resources.

Really enjoyed the deck overlooking the ocean. Very relaxing. Breakfast was excellent and staff very attentive. Mostly positive about the room but construction noise across the street was very loud and annoying. Food and drinks very expensive. Otherwise, we were very pleased.

This was a nice hotel, but the parking was a nightmare. The elevator stopped working the morning after we arrived, and the other one was really busy. It was a really long walk to the lot and it was so hot. The woman at the check-in desk must have had a really hard day because she was impatient and quite rude. Loved the beach! Not enough beach chairs for the amount of people at the pools.

This is a great property and feels like vacation through and through! The staff is very friendly, especially their hotel reception (Virginia and Robert - amazing!) I highly recommend this resort.

In essence for the price we paid, the service was lacking significantly.
Positives: Clean room and very nice decor. Spa was good (we asked for female staff and got males for both) and prices matched service quality.
Cons: With the exception of the Oyster Catcher staff, the rest of the staff appeared to be poorly trained on every thing. The Valet service was unorganized and severely short staffed. I don't blame the workers at all, this was poor management. As a manager myself of a staff of 12 I can tell when it is an employee moral problem or poor training. This was poor training of staff by management. When we asked questions we received erroneous information or a flat out; I DON'T KNOW with a very big smile. We asked if there was a ride service or shuttle to the other hotel because there was a monsoon and I am almost 9 months pregnant and we had dinner reservations. We were told NO. We asked for an umbrella because we saw other guests with them and were told they were out. Then someone came up and said there is a shuttle service but you need to ask VALET. We went to VALET and they said they didn't coordinate that, the front desk did. Which is who told us to go to VALET in the first place. The point is this type thing happened multiple times. Wild Dunes needs to either UP their service and hospitality game or Lower their prices so guests aren't disappointed. For $1,000 bill we had for a 1 nights stays i would say I was more the unsatisfied with our stay at Wild Dunes.

The front desk staff was very friendly. The bartenders were very nice and professional. Also, I enjoyed speaking to Richard, who worked the front door and assisted the guests with the logistics of their car parking, bags and informed them of where to go.

Our newly serviced well running newish car was left in the valet and would not start when we were trying to go to dinner. We had to have 2 tow trucks come pick it up to bring to the dealer because the first one did not fit in the garage. It is the day of our checkout and we are told we can’t get a late check out even though our car is not ready and we have nowhere to go. We had to pay for our own transportation to go anywhere. They have offered nothing to accommodate our ruined vacation. They told us to go shower in the fitness room while we wait to hear about our car.

So booking was a little confusing, when we booked we really didn’t know which hotel we were staying at. Not realizing one is newer and nicer. We booked a room with a balcony and when we got to our room we had a sliding door with a metal gate, no balcony. So we had to request a new room. The receptionist was really nice and switched our rooms with no problem. The room was nice, nothing special but clean and nice. The resort area is very nice

The restaurants were full, and some ran out of food. More options would be nice. It was an awesome stay other than that!

Overpriced for outdated rooms. I wanted to stay at the Sweetgrass Inn and was assuming that’s what I booked because the pictures of the room I wanted was pictures from the Sweetgrass Inn. When I arrived they told me I was booked for the Boardwalk Inn. The staff was extremely rude and would not help me at all and told me to take it up with Expedia. She never offered to check and see if another room at the Sweetgrass was available. So off we went to The Boardwalk Inn completely away from the pools where we were going to be spending most of our time. Got the key to our room and walked in and the whole room smelled like mildew. The carpet looked dirty and the closet was quite literally bigger than the bathroom. The shower leaked alllll over the floor even when the door was shut. So I requested more towels to keep the floor dry and to prevent me from slipping when I got out. They delivered the towels about an HOUR after I requested them. I felt ignored by every waitress at every restaurant we dined at. We left one place after twenty minutes of not being asked what we would even like to drink. I’m not sure if it was because of our tattoos? Or that we didn’t look like everyone else? No clue, but I didn’t spend over 2 grand on a three night stay somewhere to be gawked at like some circus act. Disappointed and won’t ever be returning. I’ll rent a house on the beach for a week for quite literally the same price.

Very over priced “ocean view” room . If you went out on the patio and looked in the distance you could barely see the ocean. The service including front desk and housekeeping was very poor! Would never stay at that property again.

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn. The facility was beautiful, clean, and modern. The staff was very friendly at all times. Also, the pool bar/restaurant was outstanding!!! So, now for some unfavorable items:
We went for a long walk on the beach in the evening (around 10 or so). Upon returning back, we were locked out and had to climb a fence to get back in. That was upsetting. People should be allowed to come and go as they please.
The restaurant prices are OUTRAGEOUS! Just be forewarned that you might end up paying around $400 for drinks and dinner. Other than the pool bar/restaurant, the food is ultra gourmet and not really what we were hoping for.
The resort itself is a bit confusing to walk around for a first time visitor such as ourselves. It's definitely made for the golf/tennis country club type communities.
Way too many kids! We got a room at the Boardwalk Inn because it had an adult-only swimming pool which by the way is super shallow (only about 4/5 ft. deep). But there were still a lot of kids around the hotel and overall area.
Finally, the Isle of Palms is a beautiful place but it's hard to even find a souvenir shop, regular restaurant, etc.
Overall, we had a wonderful time but I just wanted to write these items of concern to let others know before they book their stay.

Love the hotel and location. Service is terrible and understaffed. Would not answer guest services phone line.
Need more food options for kids.

Need more shopping and dining options. The pool gate was not working so hard unable to get in and out of the pool area. Valet drivers were great!

The staff were all very friendly and happy to help! Quiet, safe, a lot to do and relaxing.

Overall, our stay was fantastic! The resort is new, beautifully designed, and clean. Our room had a gorgeous view of the pool and the ocean. The room was spacious and comfortable with nice amenities like a mini fridge, plenty of USB chargers, comfy patio furniture, etc. The resort was beautiful with convenient access to the pool and the beach. The staff that we interacted with were all helpful and friendly.
On the not so great side, the pool was crowded and a little dirty. The water was murky and there was trash in and around the pool every day. Parking was also a little tough with little street parking - there was free valet but we prefer to have easy access to our own car. The little shops in the resort seemed like a great amenity until we saw prices—absolutely insane. So we ended up not purchasing any food or drinks at the resort and found plenty of great (and much more affordable) options off the resort.

Pools are a bit overcrowded, no breakfast and you have to pay for the chairs on the beach!
