Amazing hotel, with access to very pretty gardens (day or night).

The hotel room feels old and not well maintained. The balcony is quite dirty. The checkin staff were busy with all the checkin and fails to acknowledge our presence even though they are not attending to us. Notwithstanding, the hotel provide free pass to Pan Men attraction. The noodle restaurant within the hotel offers decent selection of food and they are quite tasty. Location of the hotel is relatively near to some attractions. I like that the hotel provide a map showing the attractions around suzhou. I would like to commend the bell boy who helped us in booking the taxi using his phone and giving us some information which makes the hotel more pleasant. Kudos to the bell boy.

Very clean and spacious room.

The rooms we had were noisy and mine had an old carpet smell. This hotel is due for a renovation and upgrades.

Beautiful landscaped SuZhou style garden, very relaxing, staff was friendly and accommodating. The only negative we encountered was poor air conditioning performance. Not cooling the room at all.

The front porter was extremely friendly

Very historical and pretty hotel. Impressive service too!

The hotel is beautiful and unique . Far from the downtown. No room service and very limited foreign langage speakers among the staff.

The staffs are very nice, but this is the only merit of this hotel.
The building and the garden is nice, at a glance. But once you pass the lobby, facilities are in extremely poor condition, carbon is damge, the basin in bathroom is leaking, etc.
If the above still acceptable, the design layout of the room is ridiculous. I book a deluxe room with garden view, the most expensive I can find on hotel.com. but after I enter the room, I find out even I have a garden view room, but I can not enjoy it, because the people pass the walkway, and they can directly see my room if I open the curtain. It also happen on other rooms. Like when I walkpass, I saw a almost man in his room undressing, room number is 312x, makes both of us extremely embarrassed. Just wish to ask the designer, did he considered the privacy of the client? What a generous design.
Also, I have no idea what the management thinking. On my last stay, they have some event in the garden. Since 8 or 9 am, I was woke up by the loud speaker, combing with the echo, whole room is shaking. And this last more than a few hours. I can understand the hotel hold some event, but please also consider other client. I'm sure most client choose this type of garden hotel mainly because they love quite place rather than enjoying loud speaker and shaking window/room for a few hours.
Anyway, I will not choose this hotel anymore, even its free.

The room I got was a bit old and need some refurbishment. But the building itself is gorgeous. Value for money.

Beautiful decor; lovely garden; fun architecture, though hotel is laid out like a maze and walking distances rooms can be vast. Pools (in-door and out) are very nice. Hotel needs maintenance. Carpets dirty and worn. Furniture in room worn. Windows dirty. Staff very warm and super helpful. Eric, at Concierge desk, was particularly good. Special access to Pan Men Garden a big plus.

I really liked the service, quality, pace, integrity, rapport and atmosphere.

Beautiful property, and convenient access to the Panmen Gardens. Quite a number of the staff can speak English, some can read English, all were helpful. Only complain is the front lobby was undergoing renovations, so space to move inside the front lobby was limited.
Front lobby is on the third level, so if you did not encounter a staff upon arrival, you may get lost.My friend who arrived later got lost trying to find the lobby for the first time. He did not encounter the staff at level 1 when he arrived.

The building is fascinating and the direct access to the gardens at Pan Men Gate is a wonderful amenity. The concierges were very helpful too. The #2 bus, which takes one to many of the tourist sites, stops just outside the door and runs reasonably frequently during the day and evening. We used it constantly. Do not have the Dim Sum lunch in the hotel's Chinese restaurant. It was overpriced and not very good. Also, the waiter offered us a pot of "new tea," which was wildly overpriced . We spent more on that one meal than we spent on all of the other four delicious meals we ate during the rest of our visit to Suzhou.

Beautiful grounds! Loved strolling through the massive garden in the evening. The location is also quite good, and being able to enter Panmen Scenic Area for free was wonderful. We did so in the morning and were able to the area in its morning quiet before the tourist crowds came.

The hotel is in a quite good condition, but staffs were not that nice, some of who were very indifferent. The breakfast food were about average, nothing exciting. The service staffs in dining hall were slow, and saw no smiles on their faces. Not sure if they were not treated well, or not trained well. Anyway their attitude towards guests were not warm at all.

Architecture is interesting.
Did not like layout as it is very confusing and a long walk to anywhere you need to go. Rooms old, worn out and dirty furniture. No adapters in rooms and plugs not suitable for the in room appliances. Food cost high in the restaurant and quality medium. Staff very slow and hard to find.

We could see much of the Panmen scenic area from our window, and also took advantage of the free admission that the hotel provides.

The hotel itself is a stunner, sprawling rather than towering, beautifully designed, fitting Suzhou's relaxed feel, and sidled up right next to a gorgeous, historical park that your stay gets you free entry to. It's not located in the most exciting part of town, but there are some solid restaurants around, convenience stores, and a quaint little bar across the street aimed, I think, at foreign guests of the hotel (the staff was very friendly and informative; I dare you not to go in there when you see how they advertise themselves and how clearly they want international clientele).
The food was none too good - my girlfriend wanted to order room service the first night and everything that came was a letdown after the quality of the hotel space had raised expectations. The dish I can speak on with most authority, the pork noodle soup, was pretty gross, all things told - limp, fatty slivers of pork, bland broth, and subpar noodles, and if nothing else I can say my girlfriend's salad was a ripoff. The breakfast buffet wasn't nearly as bad as the room service food, but it was a step down from breakfast buffets in other hotels at this level around China (I only know because my job puts me up in lots of Marriott's, Westin's, Shetraton's, etc when I'm over there with them; this was a private booking).
With that said, I don't mean to discourage people from staying here, because it really is a rare beauty, and you should go out to eat anyway!

At first glance, the hotel looked superb. Just like the photos online. However, it wasn't what I would call a 5 star hotel when it came to the service provided. Having stayed at Shangri La in China before, this was nowhere near as pleasant. No one came to greet us as we arrived at the hotel nor did they help us with our luggage. Despite myself making the reservation, they didn't speak to me when I checked in, instead they spoke to my partner because they spoke Mandarin. Felt very offended by this and I had no idea what was going on during the check in process. The hotel was relatively clean inside although the rooms were quite small. At best I would rate this hotel 4 star.

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in the Pacific Club King room in early Sept 18. The room was spacious with comfortable bedding and bathroom. An added bonus was the afternoon high tea and access to adjacent Panmen Garden. Breakfast spread was large with a huge variety of western and Asian fares. We throughly enjoyed the generous space, scale and architecture of Pan Pacific which, together with the excellent service of its staff in general, we will be back.
