At first the impression was not 100% but the friendliness of the staff made us feel very comfortable in the end. The location is breathtaking, although it is a steep hill to get up to from the Old City. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family.

location is excellent, building is old, rooms are dated, very good price though!

Very simple but excellent location on top of Mt. of Olives. Rooms are no-frills but clean. They although have a few upgraded rooms,so if you ask polite you might get one. We will definately be back

When I arrived no one was there and the doors were locked. after standing out side the hotel and calling several times someone finally came to the door where I was told they over booked so I was given there worst room 120..it was so bad even the manager apologized and said hopefully they could get another room the next day..I walked in to a room with trash on the floor a bed that had obviously been slept in, dirty toilet and sink with Mold Growing out of control around the tube..these conditions I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy the next day I begged the staff to switch and they finally changed me rooms to the other side of the hotel where the same conditions reappeared..except this time I could hear every car horn from the street ..because of these conditions I became Sick And was forced to leave the trip Of a life time. This hotel s a disgrace and should be condemned, the service is only equivalent to one word: useless. This was the greatest waste of money and resources of my entire trip. It is a shame and a travesty that establishments of this quality are allowed to advertise on Expedia, based off this experience I would never book with Expedia again or advise anyone to do so. This travel agency should have better vetted there hotel options in this region of the world before offering it as a safe, reliable and clean accommodations. This hotel needs to be removed from this listing at once to keep with the integrity of this travel agency. I stand behind every word !

We were moved to another hotel on arrival. This area is great for Shabbat as it is the Arab part of town so all the restaurants are open!!!

Only stopped in for the night, was clean, comfortable, and affordable. Great location, beautiful looking out over Jerusalem in the morning.

Although the hotel was satisfactory for us, I definitely don't think it's a place where most Americans would want to stay. Everyone should know that it is in the Arab section of the city and is quite seedy by American standards. However, the staff were quite nice to us and, after our first initial shock, it seemed to be very safe and we felt secure all the time. It really is a beautiful setting with a beautiful view of the Old City. We think it is a good deal for the price, if you know all of the above.

This hotel is a dump. The guests should be paid to stay there. Our room was absolutely filthy. We did however have the housekeeping staff knocking on our door before 08.00 the next morning requesting entry to clean! We requested they came back later as we weren't dressed. The room was still filthy when we returned. The bedding left a lot to be disrired. Very rough sheets and dirty blankets. The bathroom was also a joke. No holder for the loo roll so it had to sit on the side of the bath or on the floor. We requested a room with a bath tub. The bath tub was very narrow, with a ledge type seat which left very little room for you to stand up/manoeuvre. My sister found bathing in this quite frightening as she was scared of falling. We requested a room at the back of the hotel so as to not be kept awake by the noise from the road. We were instead kept awake by the noise of the barking dogs and the mosque. There is very little in the way of facilities in the area. If we decide to visit Jerusalem again, we will definitely stay within the city.

Thus place is terrible, pay more for somewhere in the New City.

Wonderful Experience. Hotel is next door to Mosque of the Ascension, constructed on the site of a church built in 380 AD commemorating Christ's Ascension. It is also 100 meters from the Church of the Lord's Prayer (Paternoster), a five minute walk from the Garden of Gethsemane, and a 15 minute walk down the Mt. of Olives to the Old City. We had a wonderful time. Because the hotel is in "East Jerusalem" some Israeli taxi guides will refuse to go to "the other side of the tracks," or they will want to charge extra to get there. Find out before you get in the cab, if the taxi or sherut will charge extra to go to the Mt. of Olives. This obviously is a statement more about the taxi drivers than the hotel. Our family, four kids ages 6-11, had a great time staying there, and I would recommend it to all families on a budget and ready for a more cultural experience.

Friendly service. For a 2.5 star hotel we got what we paid for. Rooms were a good size and comfortable new beds and linen. They were basic but that is what I expected but they were clean. We spent hardly anytime there so we were not worried the too served a purpose. It was great as right by the Church of the holy ascension and they you could work your way down from the Mount of Olives to see the main sights in the old city. Some females may be intimidated by the local neighbour as it is an Islamic neighbourhood with mainly men on the streets but we as 2 females felt fine and people were very courteous and friendly towards us. For the price we paid a night inc of breakfast it was good value. The dinner you can get a 3 course home cooked (has to be requested that morning) is very good value for $15 pp and the breakfast buffet is typical of a breakfast in the Middle East which we loved as lots of choice and healthy options. Great service the staff were friendly and helpful. I would most definitely stay there again . The only one down side is it may be a little noisy for some if you get a room on the same side of the main road and there is a mosque right next door but the call for prayer at 5am is very short and did not really disturb us.

First night transferred to 7 Arches Hotel which was good. Each night at the Mount of Olives Hotel it was very noisy, dogs barking, traffic noise and a very load Muezzin next door. Breakfast was very middle eastern, tea and coffee available free all day which was good. Very heavy traffic all day and evening as coaches go to view Jerusalem from near the 7 Arches Hotel. The area and road names have changed so don't rely on Them check out on Google Maps what they are if using Sat Nav.

Well the hotel isn't to bad wouldn't recommend it for families but ok if you don't mind roughing it a little.
The staff are friendly and helpful however the food in the hotel isn't that great but then neither is the food that great anywhere in Jerusalem Old City.
The Views from the hotel are very nice however be aware you are in a predominately Palestinian area and the locals weren't always that friendly. Restaurants around the hotel are dirty but a short taxi ride away near Jaffa gate you'll find a lot of nice restaurants and a more tourist friendly atmosphere, about twenty minutes walk.
The thing about this hotel you need to keep in mind is if you have mobility problems like I do unless you want to get robed by taxis (who all seemed to be blaggers and thieves) you do have quite a steep climb. The "mount" kind of gives this away I thought there may be a bus but there isn't.
Overall the hotel was good but location poor if your not on a budget stay near Jaffa gate!

At first, I thought Mount of Olives was ideal. Great location, great price, breakfast included. Great choice, right? WRONG! From the moment I was ready to leave the airport, this hotel was doomed for failure. The shuttle driver at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv, would NOT bring me to the hotel. I couldn't understand why(I thought he was rude). But I was about to find out. Anyway, I got to the hotel at about 4PM, and the door was locked - I had to be buzzed in(in the daytime!). The man at the front desk(I think he was the owner of the hotel) was very sincere and the entire staff including housekeeping was also very sincere and professional. I was advised not to walk around especially at night(and I didn't). Furthermore, the first night there I was in the lobby surfing the internet, and hear yelling and shouting. I look and two people ready to fight are both restrained by hotel staff - in the lobby! The police came by a half hour later to cool things down. Then the next day another altercation although not as bad. But that was not all- for hours until very late at night horns consantly honking, people yelling in the street. It was so bad I didn't stay the final night of my 4 nights. I was so happy to leave. It's a shame this all came to pass- the people at the hotel were very nice. I do not recommend this hotel

I was on a solo trip to Old Jerusalem. This hotel offered a very reasonalby priced, clean room from which to set out. Free breakfast was very nice. Facilities were somewhat tired; but rooms were clean. No elevator, but only two stories. Staff was helpful and bridged my lack of language skills. The view is fantastic from here. If you are walking, be aware of the 500 steps from the top of the Mount down to the bottom of the valley.

Traveled to this hotel on Friday night during Ramadan it was completely stopped traffic as the Muslim's were exiting the dome of the rock. 1.5 hours instead of 15 min drive. I was with an Israeli Jew got a couple odd stares. This FYI is a Palestinian (Arab) hotel. They had the call to prayer at 4am which woke me up. and Ramadan was going so there was very loud yelling late at night. I think I would avoid this time if possible. Otherwise the beds were there, they gave free wifi, they have a computer from ~2000 that anyone can use with internet. Also their breakfast was half an hour late, but again I think it is related to Ramadan. It was basic, but similar to a hotel on the beach I paid $170 for a night. Great deal for the money if you don't go on Friday night of Ramadan/get a room off of the street. Little bit rougher neighborhood graffiti, and is in the poorer Palestinian neighborhood, still part of Israel though no check points, 5 sheckels to get the bus to the Damascus gate(very cheap). Get ear plugs and headphones, bring a guest and it will be a cheap experience of Arabic hospitality.

Overall, the staff was polite and very helpful. The view from the hotel's windows is very beautiful. For someone coming to a conference in West Jerusalem and without a car (arrived by taxi) I could not do much in the evening. The room was big and comfortable ; the furniture and towels quite old but I think that everything was reasonable for the low price paid.

Perfect location for Christian tourists. Nice staff. Clean rooms. Short walking distance to Observation Point overlooking Jerusalem. Near the location where Jesus ascended into Heaven and where He will return at His Second Coming. Good hotel overall. Highly recommended.

the hotel is on top of Mt of Olives, which offers a great view, but there is not much else up there, so you have to back down into town if you are looking for a good meal - or an alcoholic beverage. When we were there, we were the only Western guests, the breakfast buffett was rather bare, coffee in styrofoam cups. But for the price, the hotel offers decent value and is clean.

it is a basic hotel, location is good and the staff is very polite and helpful. The bathroom is too small . one can hardly squeeze in. Lift has been missed terribly.

The hotel is great. It has character and is everything I expected. It is on a Main Street but that adds to the charm and ambience. The staff are excellent and went out of their way to help me - I had hired a car and wanted directions to Jericho and Ramallah - they spent time ensuring I had the correct directions.
The room was clean and we had a brilliant view overlooking the Old City.

Enjoyed staying here... price was right and good walking distance from the Old City. We enjoyed the difference of cultures -- and the morning buffet was nice. There was a great restaurant just next door down the street for evening excursions. There was great internet connectivity too. Reasonable value for the price.

The Hotel is on top of a mountain. It is not near to the Area of Aqsa Mosque if you are Muslim. There is a dangerous walk down (steep decline) approximately 2.5 km plus but possible definitely not for the old age coming from urban areas . The Hotel is heavily overpriced but the reception is extremely friendly but of little help when it come to affordable transportation. Take the Route 76 bus for 5 shekels to the Damascus gate, this is where you can get the bus again. Note the location where to get the bus again. Trips up to the hotel is very frequent.
The Hotel has no lifts but only three floors. You definitely will enjoy your stay here. breakfast is free, I personally don't have issues with food, depend on your taste whether you will enjoy it or not, I saw many people enjoying the breakfast and the food seemed to be sufficient for all. Tea and Coffee is free throughout the night.
The reason that I will not recommend this Hotel to others, because the next traveler might not be as easy as myself when it comes to traveling. All these places in Israel old city is old so the ratings might be based on the comparison of Hotels within this border. A 2 star in Tel Aviv cannot be compared to a two star in the old city.

The Mount Olives Hotel in Jerusalem offers an amazing view on the old Jerusalem. You can reach the old town walking through a very pittoresque local small road. It is very near by all kind of small shops where you can get very good falafels made according to the local tradition.
The personel is extremely helpful, welcoming and friendly. They're available day and night.
It might not be a 5 stars hotel, but the warmth of people in it and the atmosphere in there are simply priceless.
I highly recommand that place to people serching a more concrete contact with the autochtones.
