First impressions were spoilt be the pot holes in the driveway leading to the car park and the reception area just being a computer situated on the end of the bar. Room was clean and bed very comfy. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. Considering the price paid, overall I would give the hotel a score of 7 out of 10

Good stay for 2 nights. No frills but was clean and comfortable.

Excellent cheap hotel, stayed a few times here, the staff are always helpful and when there is a problem they are always on it.

Good value-for-money hotel. Slightly jaded bedroom but this doesn’t detract from it having a really comfortable bed.
Excellent breakfast.

The lass behind reception and the chef, were absolutely lovely, so friendly and welcoming. Can't fault the hotel.

Looks are deceiving, when we walked in i thought OMG what have i booked corridor looked a bit taty, the rooms are basic, but it was only a couple of nights as a base camp. I actually slept through 6 hrs solid, bed was comfy, shower temp brilliant. I will definitely book here again. The evening food menu is limited choice.

The bed was not comfortable at all. I got a back pain Two small bed was attached to make it large as well as mattress and the joining was terrible. I can feel the joining wooden edge in the middle of the bed.

Overall was adequate. Beds comfortable, generally clean although one room had a damp/musty smell. We were after 2 rooms at reasonable price and thats what we got

You get exactly what you pay for. Low cat so rooms are basic but shower was decent and room was clean. Hardly any noise too.

The Campanile is conveniently located off the A1(M) - there's a little traffic noise as the double glazing is fairly thin. The room was clean, with a comfortable bed and pillows, and a bath and shower. Everything worked fine - the TV has the Freeview channels, including radio, which is good. There's plenty of parking, shared with a Tesla recharging station. It's possible to walk to a pub (Toby carvery) or, with a bit of ingenuity, to the Southbound Washington service area (you need to go up to a signed footpath, then immediately left through a gate on a muddy footpath which has Greggs, Costa, Burger King and WH Smith for essentials. Useful if travelling from the South to Scotland as a half way break.

Overall good value for money. Paintwork and general appearance a bit tired and could do with a bit of TLC. Road up to hotel needs attention, very tight bend with poor surface. Room was clean with working facilities, again a bit tired but functional. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast with a good choice.

It’s very basic and the room and decor is very 1970s but it’s clean and very quiet to say it’s next to the motorway.
Beds not comfy at all however so had a fairly poor night’s sleep.
Staff were pleasant enough.

Stayed for one night, was ok. Bit dated but room was adequate, clean and beds comfy. Breakfast was really good, lots of choice, cooked breakfast was exceptional. Easy check in and check out. Would recommend for a night or so.

Friendly but very overworked staff.
Mattress on bed in room 125 was so broken my wife had no sleep that night. Room was shabby. After moving to a new room for the next 3 nights, things improved.

I visit Liverpool on a regular basis and the Campanile comes up all the time but
I never booked it. This time as I was visiting clients in Gateshead so gave it a go. Lots of scuff marks on the outside of the room doors and very basic inside which is actually ok. The staff was very friendly and helpful, so well done to them.
The shower in my room was not working, the mechanism for putting it on was broken. I could not shower before my business meeting so just freshen up. I told the cleaning staff before leaving for my meeting and it was the first thing I wanted to do upon my return.
Disappointing that despite it being listed as fixed at reception it was still broken so I was moved to another room.
The bed was about as bad as I've tried to sleep in. I could feel the springs poking me as I lied there. Instead of checking out at the normal time and having my breakfast as planned, I left at 1:30 am, there was no way I was going to stay another night in that bed and then drive a few hours to my home. If I was going to stay awake then might as well go home.
This is not a place I would ever consider again. I want three simple things when staying at a hotel, cleanliness, friendly capable staff and a good night sleep, well one out of three is bad.

It was okay for night. The hotel was probably i n the 1960s and is getting a bit dated.
The bath had a shower in it. It was quite a high bath and very slippery - though you could get a bath mat from reception.

Decent hotel at a fair rate. The free wi-fi was welcome. It would be good if there was a proper path from the hotel to Washington Services Southbound (for those not in a car and needing to access the Services). We had to walk through a muddy field!

Bed was ok bit soft and squeaky but done it’s job 2 single mattresses pushed together which left lump in middle but nothing we couldn’t cope with.
Room really dated but you get what you pay for.
Hotel lovely and clean smelling fresh and staff very helpful nothing was too much trouble.

You get what you pay for. The stay was ok but it’s not somewhere for more than a couple of nights. Beds were averagely comfortable, staff were pleasant, parking was easy, it was very clean, shower was good and wifi easy to find and use.
Downsides were there was only one plug which was in the hallway part of the room (on the floor) so it didn’t feel you were charging your devices in a secure place. The hand towel I don’t think was actually dirty but it was a bit stained which made it feel dirty using it. Only one bath towel was left in our room and the double bed was two singles push together - although they didn’t slide apart in the night. There was no lift for the upper floors but luckily we are able enough to carry our suitcase up the stairs. The walls are paper thin but luckily it was mostly quiet during our stay. We didn’t try the restaurant but there is a Toby Carvery a short walk away if you’d prefer.
We’d stay again for a cheap stop over within east distance of Newcastle centre.

Hotel was ok. Sheets and towels were clean enough, beds were springy and cheap, window was broke, doors were loud and could here all the other doors bang.
Had a major issue with the guest next door to us, went on until 2:30 in the morning shouting, banging etc on the first night, then a final bang as if they’d gone out. Spoke to reception about it the next day and asked if they same person was staying that night also (if he was we were going to ask to move rooms) reception apologised and said that room was empty that night so we felt relieved and they gave us the number for the night porter incase any other noise… everything seemed fine. 1am that second night it started again, same room, same male voice banging and shouting. Rang the night porter, nothing happened, didn’t even hear him come up and check, it went on until 3.30 and we were up both days at 8 for sport event which is why we stayed. So not a nice weekend, would have had the same amount of sleep staying home and driving up everyday and saved 90 quid.
The positives were, free parking, good location and good towels/bed sheets but would not be back.

We had called beforehand to say we may get there past 11pm as travelling for 6 hours for a family funeral. When arrived the night porter had said the room was cancelled as no payment was made. We done pay at property. They said they tried contacting me but hadn’t heard anything. After a while he did finally left us check in. The room was very breezy as the window was broken (photos added) but the heater helped take the chill off. Other than that it was good for what we paid for. Shower was amazing and bed was rather comfortable for 2 singles pushed together!
Would stay again

Needs a bit of a freshen up. the bathroom was not as clean as it could be as there was still hair on the floor. There was no TV remote in the room and we had to ask for a replacement.
2.0
Standard room, bed is very uncomfortable and just one plug socket.
Jusy 1 pillow each and just 1 spare pillow instead of 2.
The lack of plug sockets is strange.
