*Restaurant had zero food due to the fact that oven was broken
*Kitchen would not allow me to take my Nach Plate to my room and instead gave me a cheap foam box that was too small for my food
*Office or Lobby was locked in the morning even though the staff was in the Lobby
*No restaurants open on the grounds
VERY VERY POOR SERVICE

First impression, dirty dishes put away in cupboards, random persons belt left on kitchen chair, dental floss picks on bathroom floor, pull out couch not stripped from previous guests.
Great location. Room had a great set up. Really disappointed in cleanliness of room.
A lot of money spent and a disappointment.

Beware of exactly what kind of bed you are getting before booking! Expedia showed 2 beds, 1 queen and 1 full. We get there and we have a full size bed and a pull out couch! The couch had a mattress that was about 1 inch think and was the most uncomfortable bed possible. It was like laying on springs and two bars covered with a couple of towels. What a joke! Property never offered a solution or apologized. Only offered for us to cancel our stay for a $50 charge!

Didn’t like that the restaurant was closed on Monday and Tuesday. The pillows are weak

Great experience!

The most important thing you need to know is that the hotel restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday. If you arrive late day on either of those days, your dining options are next to nil. The other Lutsen restaurant burned down and the remainder close at 8, so we were forced to spend an exorbitant amount for cheese and crackers at the general store. I wish I had known that in advance of booking; I would have chosen another day or had a large meal in Duluth someplace.
The room was modest but nice and reasonably clean. More towels and cups and such for our three-night stay would have been nice. Not too sure about the jacuzzi—none of the jets were in helpful spots unless you’re a contortionist. I probably wouldn’t spend the extra next time. WiFi wasn’t terribly stable and would kick you out on the regular. TVs are a bit dated—you won’t be able to fling or airdrop to them, so you’re stuck with regular cable. Granted, if you’re in Lutsen, that’s probably not why you’re there, but evenings would have been more enjoyable with more options.
All in, the stay was okay. I can’t say enough how limited your dining options are, though. No pizza joint, no GrubHub, very few places open. Oh yes, and if you’re going to Grand Marais, expect more of the same. The donut and pizza places are closed early in the week too. Would have been nice to know so we could plan around it.

Staff was very friendly. The room was spacious and clean and we appreciated the extra blankets. The shower was super. The hot tub was a life saver after a long day of hiking.

The property is currently being remodeled and is rally looking good! The pool area needs new furniture and some tables and umbrellas and some plants. The exterior of the building has new sidine and doors and looks so good! The condo we stayed in was good but could use some updates. The toilet needs replacing.

All rooms had stairs. We have a hard time with stairs
Not handicap accessable. Food was great. Beautiful setting.

My wife and I are frequent “road trippers “ and this was a disappointing property.
Front desk was almost inaccessible due to workers equipment.
The bathroom in our room was dirty and damaged.
Beds needed upgrading.
Would not stay here again.

This property was a beautiful setting for August. A lot of hiking and outdoor activities nearby, the amenities were so fun and engaging and the rooms were beautiful. I would definitely stay here again. It also accommodates huge groups like family reunions.

I wish they open lobby earlier. A be lodging of that magnitude size should open from 6am to midnight for convenience of the customers.

We had a great time here. The alpine condo was the perfect size for our family of 5 and it wasn't too far toany different hikes along the north shore. We also loved the pools and hot tub after a long day hiking. Our unit had a nice full kitchen but there were also quite a few cafes and restaurants within a 15 minute drive. We will definitely be back!

Friendly staff, clean and comfy rooms.

The townhome we rented was in great condition and had everything 3 adults and 3 children needed - including space to spread out a bit. Check-in and check-out were easy; we had ability to check out games and movies; and the Caribou Highlands amenities were fantastic for the kids in the evening. Much appreciated!

Booked it because of gym option. Very disappointed they wouldn’t let us in til after 9 am. No one is there to watch you! Too late to start our day then! We are morning people. Wouldn’t have stayed there had I known

the shower water is so hot no matter what the setting is, there is no cold, so it is difficult to shower. Outdated facility in our room.

The place is way overpriced. We were supposed to get a mountain view and, it didn't happen. It's not worth it for what we paid for. The beds we had were twin bed. It was a joke. I don't recommend this place. The room were so dusty.

It was a great place for us. We spent a couple of days on the North Shore and it a great place to stay. About the only fault was the large pet fee that was not told during the signup and everything closes so early

Unfortunate they don’t have breakfast at the on-site restaurant 7 days/wk. The bathroom was not well lit. Also lacks hooks for hanging wet towels from showering and swimming. Beds were comfortable

The hotel and room were both very nice. The bed was very comfy and the shower was newer. The only bummer was the hot tub was out of commission during our stay. The pool and grounds were really nice!

Of all the traveling I’ve done in my 55 years .. this is the friendliest most helpful staff I have encountered…

Great Ski In Ski Out property. Comfortable & well appointed. Lutsen is the premier midwest skiing destination. Plenty of beginner & Just steep enough for up to advanced intermediate level skiing and long enough, enough runs & terrain to keep things interesting. A few tree runs also. Great views to boot.

I think the front desk staff was friendly and nice. The person helping me printed my lift passes, but when I asked him about rentals he just said they would take care of it at the shop. He didn't mention to me that I needed one of the documents he printed for that, but rather mentioned it was my backup in case I lost any of the passes. That paper would have likely saved us 30-40 mins of time and frustration right away in the morning.
I was disappointed that the outdoor pool was not working. Also I was a bit disappointed that some of the areas around the entries by our building B weren't salted and were so extremely slippery.
I loved the pool and hot tub. I loved our room's view and I slept pretty good. I could not figure out how to turn the heating temperature down (both two wall thermostats were turned down and it was still pretty hot so cracked the door open one night). The shuttle was really great- picked us up within a minute of calling and got us right up front to the rental line. Our room wasn't as beat up at all as I had expected based on the reviews. It wasn't perfect, but nothing was really dirty or broken.
Overall our time was very enjoyable and I would consider coming back. The price was still very high for what you get, so that would be the hesitation.

This was our second stay at Caribou Highlands. The location is great if you're skiing Lutsen - you can get on/off the lower bridge run near the property (take it down to the bridge lift and be on the hills for the day). They also offer shuttles to the main ticket/gondola area. We stayed in the lodge and it appears they've updated the rooms since our last stay (August, 2020). The rooms have a fridge/freezer (with a separate freezer, not the tiny ones in typical dorm fridges) and Keurig. They offer a lot of complimentary activities for families/kids (e.g., ice skating, crafts, hot cider, bonfires). They also had complimentary waffles in the lobby each morning, which was unexpected and much appreciated before a day of skiing. All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. My one complaint was the gym didn't open until 8am and needed a deep cleaning.

Great property and very friendly staff. Some staffing issues present but all hotels seem to be going through that. No breakfast served, kitchen slower if you have a big group and gym and pool don’t open until 9a.
We will stay again. The location was perfect and rooms were comfortable.

We enjoyed the location of the townhome and the ability to easily access the ski slopes. Note that, while its advertised as ski-in, ski-out, access from the townhomes is via an ungroomed trail at the end of each complex. Depending on which complex you're in it could be a small adventure to get to the Moose Access trail, especially for novice skiers or kids. We ended up walking about 200' to an easier, more accessible access. Still easier than loading up the car and driving to the slopes!
Our townhome was well equipped, and two parking spots are provided right outside the door. Note that one of the bedrooms was lofted - this wasn't an issue for us but could be for others. While we didn't use it, there was a balcony with a grill provided. Shopping and restaurant options are limited nearby (not the resorts fault - it's a remote location) so make sure to meal plan accordingly - we ended up dining out for two nights and cooking for two.
Overall, a strong recommend for the location alone.

Staff was friendly...the room was apparently smoked in prior to us, so they OVER sprayed an air fresher where it was uncomfortable. When we brought this up, all the front desk offered was 'open the window' it was 14 degrees out. No room swap option
