This is a quirky experience. Heritage style buildings, basic accommodation overall but the bits that count are good - the bed and the shower.
Simple, away from it all, different.
If you want luxe, this isn't it.
But it's wholesome and relaxing.
Amazing harbour views.
It's like being in Tassie...but on Sydney Harbour. You'll know what I mean.

We had an amazing two nights such an interesting place to stay.
Super friendly staff great breakfast.
Enjoyed the cafe down by the harbour, forgot our swimmers so missed a dip.
Lots of history.
Overall a very enjoyable stay very peaceful.

Staying at this place is an historic experience of the old Quarantine Station, truly unique in Sydney. Be sure to make time to explore the national park, go on a tour and have dinner at their restaurant, all worth the effort. Rooms are comfortable, clean and tidy but not climate controlled, which hints a tiny bit at how life might have been for the historic patrons. Service is friendly. The area is spread out so everything is an outdoor walk in the weather, or by shuttle bus which you can summon usually within about 10 minutes. Getting back to Manly or the city takes two steps - the park’s shuttle bus (or a walk) and then transport to Manly.
I would recommend Q Station as an essential part of the Sydney historic experience.

Poor service and stuffy room with no air conditioning. No mosquito screens so windows could not be left open for a breeze. The ceiling fan made a terrible noise and the shower was prehistoric. Very poor value for money. The only plus was the location for it’s quiet country feel.

Unique spot and very peaceful as hoped except for the last night when found myself in a room 20 feet from a full blown wedding reception. Given the nature of the hotel - in the middle of a national park surrounded by nature - this was very unexpected and very unwelcome.

Fascinating location. The old Quarantine Station has an interesting history. The hotel's location is spectacular above Quarantine Bay, which is lovely to swim in.
There are more than 250 steps from the accommodation to the beach, so it helps to be a little fit. Certainly the walk up is a good workout.
Ostensibly there is a shuttle service to and from the reception area and to the beach. This was hit and miss. Sometimes they came when called. Other times they didn't. So again, being fit (or super patient) is helpful.
The rooms are quaint, quiet. There's only one power outlet which can be limiting. Bathroom and toilets are located in a separate, nearby block. Not super clean, and a bit smelly, but adequate.
Food etc has to be brought in, or you can use the exclusive restaurant, which was booked out before I arrived, so couldn't comment on that.
If you have time and are healthy and prepared, it is an interesting destination.

We were in town to Visit "Tina" the show with our sone who lives in Manly. This is the best kept secret. Quiet, relaxed, great private beach. Best value in Sydney.

Our stay at Q Station was definitely one for the books! We absolutely loved the scenic location and it’s rich history. The on-site amenities, friendly staff shuttle service, and overall cleanliness made for an extremely comfortable and pleasant stay.
The evening ghost-tour on site was fun, educational and definitely creepy! Highly recommend for those inclined or curious.
We look forward to our next stay at Q Station, agreed that we’d stay a longer duration next time to fully experience all they have to offer :)

The staff and the Station itself are amazing but in regards to the accommodation, I was totally underwhelmed. Very basic accommodation, No microwave to hear my baby’s bottle, no plate or knife to even cut a bit of cheese on.

Not like any other city accommodation. It’s a more like a nature reserve retreat. Even thought you have your own bathroom and toilet I was surprised you had to walk outside your room to use it.

Beautiful location and quite peaceful. I think it would be a big improvement for the shuttle buses to be electric. It's great that everyone leaves their car at the top of the hill, but having electric shuttle buses would keep it quiet for everyone.

Room was disgusting 1/10. Curtains cover in mould, fridge noisey and would not close, bath/shower drain would not drain, ironing board soaked, phone for shuttle did not work, room heater did not work, room full of bugs. No one from the venue will respond to any contact. Dont be fooled by the photos, very misleading. Extremely small rooms. Would never stay here again.

The room was lovely, spacious and clean, and we enjoyed sitting on the verandah in the evenings enjoying the views and ambience. Only downside was no air-conditioning - it was pretty warm in the room at nights.
The site is very interesting with many historical buildings, and only a few people around when we were there so it was peaceful and relaxing.
The ghost tour was a disappointment though. The guide focused more on showing us dodgy photos of apparent recent sitings (on his phone and that he'd printed out) than the history of the site. I imagine there'd be countless fascinating stories from a site of such unique historical significance, but we heard very few of them. It was a shame. I'd recommend skipping the silly tour!

The bush land and beach are stunning. The room was very good. There is plenty to do at Q Station. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon.

Great experience considering the history of the facility. The little beach was fabulous and dinner at the Boiler House incredible. Staff very friendly and so helpful. The shuttle buses very quick to pick up. We went for a morning walk to North Fort North Head which afforded more gifts of stunning views. Our only constructive feedback is the ventilation in our room. With no a/c which we truly don’t mind not having, there’s no windows to open so we sweltered through the night despite the fan. You can’t leave the French doors open and the balcony light remains on all night too. We would consider returning when there’s better options for ventilation, the sea breeze was fabulous and would’ve been lovely overnight. Regardless overall absolutely awesome experience

It wasn't clear from the website that the room only has french doors onto a public balcony, but no windows.
The room needed to be ventilated prior to arrival, especially since it does not have air-conditioning.

Great location, however my room was sub-standard (2 star at best).
In addition to this the majority of staff on reception were unpleasant, there was no power for a full day, I had a wedding reception directly outside my bedroom window for a whole night, and I was charged an extra night despite communicating with the hotel prior to my arrival.
At a minimum, a refund for the night I didn't stay would be welcome and appropriate considering the above feedback.

The property is very unique in that it is situated in the middle of the National Park. It is quiet, peaceful and tranquil. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would consider staying for an extended period of time again in future.

There is no doubt that just by being in the middle of North Head NP, this hotel is a great option, the beach is stunning. Walking around North Head is really nice but....
I booked just one night for my wife's birthday, 11th of Feb 2023. It is summer, quite warm temperatures and even though I new the rooms don't include air conditioning I thought the On ceiling fan advertised was gonna be good enough.
I was wrong. The room I booked, Heritage harbour side, first of all with an advertised 22SQM in reality has 12SQM plus 3 SQM in the bathroom. Also it has NO windows at all, no ventilation. It was an OVEN, hot, unbearable at night.
I rang front desk at 3am asking if there was any kind of aircon available and the lady replied that since it is a Heritage listed building No air conditioner units were allowed.
However there are air conditioner units under some buildings which contradicts the excuse for the hotel not to have air conditioning in the rooms.
Also the huge Wifi antennas on top of some buildings contradict the Heritage protection excuse as well.
The complementary transport system from reception down to the rooms is not eco friendly whatsoever. For a short distance of no more than 500mts, diesel vans up and down, polluting the air the whole day long, very environmentally unfriendly. Why not to have small golf carts?
The restaurant was nice, the food nothing astonishing apart from a starter pasta salad which was absolutely delicious.
Acommodation in summer not recommended.
