The hotel didnt seem secure as Sandton Mall foot traffic was in/out of the front doors/lobby. At check-in, I wasn’t offered a room upgrade. Arriving to my room, I found significant amounts of mold on the walls of the shower. I made the staff aware and was told that I must speak with the morning staff. The next day, I met with Benedict, he was smug and replied with “Ok, do you want us to clean it?” I advised that the room/shower needs to be cleaned, I don’t want to stay in a room with visible mold in the shower. Benedict immediately seemed irritated that I was requesting an alternate solution. He offered another room whose bathroom was in the middle of the floor. Having no hotel staff assistance to review the rooms with me, I came back to advise that I didn’t want the room. Benedict stated “I can offer a room w/ a balcony” this new room was smaller than the corner exec. room that I booked. However, I no longer wanted to engage w/ Benedict’s unprofessional attitude, lack of empathy, and dismissive behavior. I was forced to repack all of my belongings, move them from the 7th floor to the 6th floor. The bed in the room was terribly uncomfortable as it was a relatively thin spring mattress. The sheets, duvet & pillow case all had stains, so I requested that the linens be changed. During my stay, I could smell heavy cigarette smoke coming through the vents in my room. Thank you to Solley, Bellman & Sticks, Waiter, they were kind, always willing to help & tried to make things better

Great location and above average hotel. But disappointed by 2 things:
1- at check-in, I specifically took time to mention that I booked through Expedia and asked if there were any upgrades available. The clerk didn’t seem eager to engage and was quick to say there weren’t any executive suites available. I had take the time to check online to see if they had any suites available and saw junior suites available. Checked the following day and still saw suites available. So I’m disappointed that I picked this hotel because I’m a gold Expedia member and didn’t get any benefits from my membership.
2- at check in, I asked for an extra bed for my 8 year old daughter. This was around 5:30 pm. We left our room to eat around 7 pm and came back at 10 pm and still no bed in our room. Called the front seat and was told they would follow-up and get the bed to the room. Called 20 minutes later and told they will look into it and get back to me asap. At 11 pm, I had to take my pj’s off and get dressed to physically go to the front desk to confront them. I was the. Told they only had one person working in maintenance in the evening and that person was busy with another task and he would come bring me a bed as soon as possible. Around 11:15 pm, bes was finally brought. The next day, told someone at the customer service desk my ordeal after being told there was no one from mgmt to talk to. The lady apologized profusely and got me a bottle of wine and a plate desserts for my room. Nice gesture.

We were travelling with grandchildren and staff were wonderful to them.
We had a roll out bed in each of two rooms to accommodate the 6 of us. Bed so comfortable for a child or an adult.
Breakfasts are truly world class

Overall, it’s a great hotel. We had quite a few issues with housekeeping but it was a good hotel option overall.
Pros:
⁃ Hotel location is perfect! Attached to Nelson Mandela Square and mall. Lots of great shopping and restaurants!
⁃ Turn down service at night. They bring candies and bottled waters.
⁃ Spacious room and bathroom. Room also had built in power converters.
⁃ Concierge is great and attentive. So are the valet guys outside. They all gave great customer service.
⁃ Gym is a decent size.
⁃ The spa was really nice and the massage was great.
⁃ String water pressure. And hot!
⁃ Complimentary slippers.
Cons:
⁃ Main issue the ENTIRE 4 days was housekeeping. We literally had to beg for face/bath towels everyday! We called multiple times, asked the housekeepers in the hall for towels, and sto by the front desk. And the couple times they actually did bring face towels, they only brought 2 each time and there were two of us in the room. One day they told us they were out of face towels and to call later. here must be different managers and training for the housekeeping because the concierge and valet folks were wonderful.
⁃ Booked a room with two double beds and was put in a room with a King bed. Not a big deal but not what I wanted.
⁃ The bathroom sliding doors are glass and see through. There’s sheers in front of the doors but they’re paper thin. Wasn’t a huge issue but not the best predicament for privacy when sharing the room with a friend.

Love the hotel because it is connected to shopping centres so you never have to venture out on the streets all by yourself. Since I do not know Sandton well this is a big bonus. Staff very friendly and helpful, spa great.

Staff needs more training. Did not like the open plan design of bedroom and bathroom. Work outside in the patio made it unp, easant to sit there.

Excellent 5 star facilities, excellent security, attentive and professional staff, only downside-no face towels.

I loved my stay. The reception and staff were friendly, helpful, and polite. The venue is so convenient and safe since one walks from the elevator into the restaurant area and stores of Nelson Mandela Square. I loved the atmosphere created by the very professional resident pianist.
