Set in the Lovely setting of Elvington ,Nice welcome by Rob' I think the son of the propierters??.Lovely Pub setting but please remember it is a pub!!,Nice to hear people enjoying themselves but if you like peace and quiet it could be annoying?,We loved it! as its very much a passing local feel.Room good standard overall,Needs a few more "quality touches,Clothes Rail?,Need small wardrobe?,Dogs we love but dog hair on stairs needs a good hoover!!,Annoying having to ask for milk for tea, toilet seat fitted for "woman only" as it was fitted to not stay up!!.The Grey Horse was lovely that served our needs for a short break(3 days) and is fairly priced for York,Thanks all at Grey Horse,Hope the small criticisms will serve you well?.S

Bed was comfortable, nice new carpet, everything functional. However, there was an issue with the awful smell from the shower waste and this was attracting flies. Also please note the shower valve is loose. We were pleased that our request for cleaner, fly spray and air freshener. Thank you for your help.

We really enjoyed our stay, clean, very friendly and accommodating. We had a kettle in our room with ample tea and coffee and en-suite shower room. We could pick what we wanted for breakfast in the morning with access to a fridge with water and juices. We were made to feel very welcome and would definitely stay here again.

Room is basic ,shower has a light directly above the spray head little dangerous for our liking
1 cup in a room for two so had to share
Went down for breakfast and the place was in darkness at 08:30 and requested 8:30 on the menu selection list so hence to say we had to else where to fit in with our daily plans

For a 2 night stay it was just what we needed. Basic room including everything you needed. The pub itself was lovely and staff were super friendly. The bathroom was modern but shower cubicle was too small and the toilet was squeezed into the corner. A cracked tile was a bit dangerous too. The heating wasn't great but the bed was very comfortable. A* for an amazing cooked breakfast. The room wasn't cleaned after our first nights stay and we ran out of toilet roll. But all in all a lovely stay!

On arrival we received a friendly welcome, were shown to our room that overlooked the front street. The room was very comfortable. Dinner was very good and made to a high standard. Breakfast was also very good.

OK for one night but busy road and noise from pub customers. Breakfast good and owner helpful

Nice outlook on to Village Green, in a quiet village. Rooms are above public bar, which wasn't a problem for us, for our one night stay.

Went to st Vincent arms for a meal, was delicious. Got a grumpy welcome at grey horse, maybe the timing? Did say laundry service available was told no.

Watched the local darts comp. Very friendly. Kitchen not open on Monday, but was able to order from local Chinese to deliver. Pizza available for delivery too.

Stayed for 2 night whilst exploring the region around York. Very friendly owner and staff, good selection of well kept ale and cider and good food.
Good breakfast to start the day.
Ideal location for sight seeing in York, close to the park and ride which is probably the best way to get into the city.
Thanks to the team for making our stay enjoyable, Will be back in the near future.

I booked this Inn for me and my uncle as we are both avid horse racing fans. We were attending the York Dante festival so stayed at the Grey Horse Inn for two days. There's a bus stop just down the road from the Inn that runs in the mornings to York city centre.
A taxi from York Centre back to the Grey Horse Inn was less than £18. So the Grey Horse Inn is well situated for anyone who wants to attend the horse racing at York.
We both had a meal on the first evening at the Grey Horse Inn which was lovely, and being from the west country we were happy to see Thatchers Gold on tap! lol.
The staff and locals were really friendly. Our room had all the facilities you need. A hot shower, tea and coffee making facilities, comfortable beds, television, wifi, wardrobe for our suites, towels, free toiletries etc. The full English breakfast was lovely and came accompanied with all the usual things like orange juice, toast, coffee, tea, wide selections of marmalades etc.
Everything about our stay was great. With absolutely no faults. We will be back to the Grey Horse Inn next year to attend the horse racing! Lets hope we get a few more winners next time!

Room was nice and surprisingly quiet given it was above the bar. Pub was nicely decorated (an aircraft theme) and facilities were good with a large restaurant space, good food and a decent beer selection. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Only a 15 minute drive from central York so a good location for a city break, and Elvington air museum is just around the corner.

A good standard of accommodation in a typical country Pub in a nice village location. Friendly locals and excellent selection of food with great service. Handy location for sightseeing in York, visiting the Air Museum, and within 5 minutes of the designer outlet shops. Highly recommended.
