Extremely friendly staff.
Nice room. Beds and pillows could have been softer. Refrigerator and microwave in the room!

I booked this hotel, and it would be nice based on the reviews, ended up, not staying here at all. I booked another hotel in another location.

It is very clean and close to the hospital where my husband is staying. I did not need amenities just here for 2 nights so it is perfect.

I booked this place basing myself on the vast majority of good reviews it has but it was a total disappointment. I don't know what kind of people wrote them but here is my honest take on the place. The place seems to have been renovated which makes everything look neat outside and inside the rooms. Also, I didn't detect weird smells from humidity and smoke inside the room nor the floor was sticky. The furniture, the floor and bathroom all look redone inside the rooms, no complains there. Where this place starts to fail is at the cleanliness aspect. Place is super dusty, literally everything had great amount of dust, feels like you are inside an ancient Egyptian tomb in Egypt with all the dust you have in the rooms. Moreover the small fridge we had inside our room was super noisy as well. We could barely sleep because of all the dust in combination with the noise coming out of the fridge. Our room number was #102. In conclusion, the place was not great and not horrible but if you are allergic like us, stay away!

From check in to check out everything was great! Ed takes pride in the rooms, the property and service. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, nice surrounding neighborhoods and plenty of food and other needs within walking distance.

Perfect for a one night stay. Easy trip from the motel to the SAP Center for a Sharks game. Owner/manager was very very nice and made the experience fantastic.

The Sterling Inn is not a top of the line boutique hotel and that’s 100% okay! That’s not its lane. It’s a budget motel meant to give the traveler a clean, quiet, safe, and comfortable place to rest, and it does that well.
It’s a nicely updated old-style motel: some ground-floor units, a few up-and-down. Again: quiet, clean, decently-appointed. Bed is comfortable, and has both hard and soft pillows. Microwave and fridge. Nice TV. More power points than you can shake a stick at. The Wi-Fi is good and strong, though it did cut off sometime around midnight (which was good, I should have been asleep earlier anyway!). No trouble streaming movies, and I was able to hook up my Roku stick to the TV easily without a lot of faffing around with the network.
They save in a few ways that aren’t deal breakers but should be noted. The fridge is, or at least in my room was, a wine cooler, so there’s no freezer. There’s no coffee maker, and if you haven’t brought a mug, no convenient way to make a cup of tea in the morning. There’s only the one chair at the desk, and it’s a plain old wooden chair, so you probably won’t be doing a lot of work from the desk.
I still liked it and was comfortable, but I’d put it on the “stay here if you really want to keep the costs down but still have an good place to rest” list.
Totally recommend if you need a few nights on a budget.

Consistently good for what we need. Manager had to shut down a party next door, which cost us a good night’s sleep. We were happy he was able to get them out without some long, drawn out police action. Was a little rough for a spell. Location is great, lots of safe places to walk between the campus and the neighborhood. Usually a very quiet, no fuss stay and we will return.

The staff is excellent. The location is perfect, walkable. I would stay here again for any reason, work, pleasure, or a staycation.

Ed is a gift to this world. He truly is the sweetest person you'll meet. He runs an amazing motel, spacious modern rooms with charging ports/USBs on both sides of the bed, LED mirror in the bathroom, and the rooms are very clean. Very walkable with Ike's across the street, Safeway in sight, and a nearby 24 Hour Fitness. It's right off the freeway so it's accessible to anything.

Ed was great. Would go back next time we are in the area. Rooms were perfect for our trip and was pretty close to the freeway. Standard size tv, microwave and fridge. Going to be booking here next time. Looking forward to checking out the other rooms.

The owner was very nice and welcoming, and helped us with issues with the room. The bathroom floor was very un-even (it was an accessible room but even the part of the floor which wasn't the ramp was un-even). It caused the entire floor to be flooded right after the first shower which was inconvenient. Overall - a decent room for a one night stay before taking a flight, but it's a small un-cozy room.

Staff was great, location was convenient! A bit loud, but you’re very close to the street so not surprising. Room was clean - a few ants, but standard for California and only a few of them. Would definitely recommend!

It's not a five star motel but it's a decent place with no problems. The manager is especially helpful and nice.
