Friendly, easygoing vibe with close proximity to beach. It’s clean enough, beds aren’t super comfy but not the worst we had in Belize. Very hospitable staff and seemed safe

Great location. Friendly staff! Clean and safe . Gets loud at night with the bar next door but music shuts down at 10 on weeknights and midnight on weekends. Upgraded beach chairs and bedding would be a nice improvement . Overall a great experience and great value !

My friend and I, being budget-conscious, wanted the biggest bang for our buck and we found it at Julia's Cabanas. The location is ~100 feet from the Caribbean with private cabanas within a gated/security-patrolled property. The property is ~ 30 feet from the famous Placencia sidewalk. Prior to our trip, Miss Shelly, the property manager, helped us coordinate daily excursions and communicated promptly and thoroughly. Upon arrival, she built upon her reputation by recommending additional local activities and businesses, which were all met with success. Miss Shelly, has a degree of sophistication, grace, and a sense of genuine care for others that meets and exceeds any 5-star hotel concierge. Enjoy your trip!

Perfectly located!

There is a fun music pounding bar next door that always ends by midnight. Some of the cabins can hear the music/noise. It's an awesome bar with great food! We would stay here again

This property was Great for me

The people are super nice everywhere in Belize, so no exception here, BUT if you are willing to "camp out" with no hot water and really NO WATER except for a dribble then you are good. Should be considered a "hostile" because it's tiny with no TV or amenities to name and it was filthy. It is time foor Belize to actually DO the inspections instead of just signing off on something for the money! Also, the music next door played well into the night, but we didn't mind that. They did warn us though. Very nice people!!

I pondered for some time to consider how to review this property. On one hand the on-site managers are amazing. Beautiful people, super helpful and friendly. The cabanas were pretty well kept considering the difficulty of maintaining properties on a beach. A few areas were showing some age and in need of a fresh coat of paint. But overall I'd consider the place well maintained. The big down-side was in the area of comfort. We stayed in cabana #3 which likely had the smallest kitchenette (if you could even call it that). Also had an extra single bed which left no room inside for seating. When in our room our choices were to sit on hard wood chairs on the front deck or sit on a bed. This is the room to have if you are not planning to spend hardly any time at the room. The beds were very firm and not our idea of comfortable. So nights were pretty restless. Shelly did find us some better pillows which helped and we were very appreciative. And the location, just awesome. Right between the beach and the Placencia sidewalk with an abundance of shops and restaurants nearby. To provide a more detailed rating for various aspects on our stay, here it is: Location - 5 stars Hosts - 5 Condition - 4 (for a rustic beach cabana) Wifi - 4 TV/entertainment - 0 Beach access - 5 Shopping - 5 Activities - 5 Comfort - 1 1/2 (hard bed, hard seats) Value - 4 Noise - 2 (bar next door was really loud on weekends) Climate control - 2 (AC unit under-sized and noisy)

Shelly and Taj who took care of us during our days was amazing. Hospitality was high and with Shelly and Taj:s engagement it became a warm feeling. Thanks to Shelly who supported with diving booking and Taj who gave us a lesson in harvest and quality of coconuts. (Apologies if spelling of names was wrong)

This place was perfect! Great location, amazing attentive staff, friendly guests. Great value for the price. Can't wait to come back!

Close to the beach

Excellent location and decent basic room (Room 3) but lack of natural ventilation (transparent plastic films on windows blocking the breeze). Both the AC and the fan are loud, like VERY loud. And the AC is pretty ineffective due to all the air leaking everywhere. Overall we had a nice stay, I just feel the price is high for that level of comfort.

The staff was great, and the location was superb. There were several places to buy gives, food, and there were a few markets near-by. The shower had hot water (which was a nice change of pace for us). The one thing problematic was the air-conditioner. During the day, it didn't keep the room sufficiently cool; we brought this to the attention of management, but there was nothing they could do about it except offer a refund. Otherwise things were fine. The staff did her best to accommodate us, and we are grateful.

Nice place to chill right on the beach. Close to everything in the village. Nearby bars close at 12, really no problem with noise.

The manager, shelly, is so kind and communicative. The room is a little out dated but serves it's purpose well. Beds were comfortable, room was clean, had everything I needed.

The location of the property was excellent. Price was excellent. I rented the beach front unit and it was great. However, location is next to a very, extremely loud bar. Music lasted until 12:00 midnight every night. Manager tried to be helpful when asked, but she seemed to forget everything I asked such as cleaning or replacing, and traveling, and then was scrambling to provide at the last minute. Many family members(4) lived on sight. Cleaning of cottages, beachfront, and surrounding area was not done sufficiently. Trash was never collected and disposed. Beach chairs for clients were never placed on beach. I will not return to this property in the future and would have loved to because of the location.

I was right on the beach. Also it was close to good food and entertainment establishments. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Great Location. Could use some TLC

This is our first time in Palencia. We love discovering and staying at places that represent the local culture. Julia’s fits this to a T! The cabanas are just charming! The location was perfect for us since we didn’t have a car. Lots of great places to eat close by. I communicated with Shelly before our trip and she was great! Then upon arrival she was so professional and dedicated to making sure we were comfortable. If you are looking for an “American Experience” this place is not for you. If your looking for a quaint, charming, clean place to relax, unplug, and to get a true feel for Palencia I recommend checking Julia’s Cabanas out!

Julia's is basic, backpacker accommodation with easy walking to restaurants and shops. We were disturbed by bass thumping the first night but following nights were fine. AC cooled the room nicely.

With Julia's Cabanas being next to a bar that has live music till 11pm or later its hard to sleep.

It felt so relaxing and miss Shelly the manager was amazing. So helpful and kind.

This is a terrible place to stay. I would never recommend it to anyone. There was no water to shower with or even wash your hands. It was crawling with ants. It was not clean
