Its spacious and everything you need is there, great for family trip, the staff is very informative and nice, definitely will book again next time when we travel kyoto again.

What a great stay. The room was perfect for our family… Mom, Dad and three adult sized older children over 18. Our room had a nice common area, small kitchen, and three bedrooms, essentially sleeping six. There were two bathrooms, also, which was very helpful. The washer /dryer is nice to have but takes a looooong time to wash and dry a small load. Some user error played into our learning curve- just give a long time and follow the directions. They are so welcoming here and offer a great happy hour downstairs. We enjoyed chatting with other guests from around the world! Highly recommend.

I would like to thank this property for its utmost patience with my group traveling. We inconvenienced the team with late check in and a bigger group size and they were very professional with addressing that issue/abiding by hotel policy. I am grateful for the staff and of course the Mimaru properties are lovely. Big shout out to the Kyoto Shijo staff.

We really enjoyed our stay here and wish we could have stayed more nights . We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and it was great for our family . The free sake and beer was a bonus.

We are a family of four, including our sons, age 17 and 20. We stayed in five different hotels in Japan during our vacation and this was by far our favorite. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. Check in was seamless. The apartment was immaculate and roomy. It had a nicely equipped kitchen. The hotel offers a menu in the lobby of things you can borrow like phone chargers and wine glasses. They also provide coffee, tea and juice in the morning and complimentary happy hour with beer and sake in the evening. The front desk staff were all lovely and helpful. The location of the hotel was super convenient to Kyoto Station as well as Gion/Pontocho and the shopping district. There are also many restaurants and convenience stores in the surrounding area. We were able to walk almost everywhere. Highly recommend!

Amazing property! We have a large and modern 2 bedroom apartment with a washer/dryer. The best part of the stay was the daily happy hour where you can help yourself to very good beer or saki, while the children colour and do crafts. The hotel staff had very good recommendations for dining. The hotel is centrally located and very convenient. It is the vibrant and modern Kyoto downtown with good proximity to other areas.

This was the second Mimaru property we stayed at on our recent trip to Japan and it was fantastic. We loved our suite - having two full baths was so nice traveling with 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The sitting area was very comfortable, with a full dining table and a nice kitchen. We also loved the beer/sake hour in the evening, and our girls loved being able to get juice or green tea in the lobby. The hotel is extremely quiet; we heard no noise from any adjoining rooms, or above or below, and the neighborhood is not at all noisy. We enjoyed being within easy walking distance of a few cafes, lots of shopping, and the subway station, and a slightly further (about 15 minutes) walk from the main shopping area. The staff at the hotel was lovely and super helpful; we appreciated how good their English was, as our Japanese is not at all good. I would highly recommend this hotel in particular and the Mimaru brand in general to families traveling to Kyoto.

The hotel apartment was really built for families in mind. We all had a comfortable beds to sleep on and a washer/dryer in the unit which is a plus if you’re traveling for a while and need your clothes washed. About 10 minute walk to the nearest train station and bus station.

Highly recommend this hotel. The staff and amenities were wonderful. They have free drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) during certain hours. The staff were great with communication and were helpful when we asked. The hotel stay was better than the one we booked in Tokyo.

Perfect place to stay in Kyoto with families. Good location and walkable subway station. We had a lot of fun during the stay. Only the room cleanness should be improved, e.g. a lot of dust on the floor when we moved room beds for opening the luggages on the first day.

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed out. The rooms are huge and impeccably clean. The complimentary amenities are over the top (you can borrow anything from rice cookers to beautiful handmade tea sets. The clincher for my husband was daily draft beer in the lobby. Of course, this being Japan, the service is absolutely top notch.

During our two weeks in Japan, we stayed at Mimaru properties in Tokyo, Osaka & Kyoto and while they were all excellent, Kyoto was our favourite. We had a three bedroom unit, each with two double beds. As well, there were two bathrooms, kitchenette and a washer/dryer. Layout was excellent and spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff was helpful and polite. Loved the selection of dishes and cups that one could take to their room as well as the free sake in the lobby. Would definitely stay here again. Neighborhood was quiet, convenient and close to public transit.

Wonderful experience! 4 of us stayed in the two bedroom suite and we loved the cleanliness of the suite and made good use of the living room area. Thoughtful amenities throughout, such as free beer and sake tasting during happy hour and free juice during the day.
The staff were welcoming and helpful with all of our questions. Absolutely would stay here again during our next Kyoto trip.

Room was large but bedrooms were not soundproof. Washer dryer in the room was super convenient. Happy hour and free beverages was a great benefit. Only thing that would make this hotel superior would be an onsen.

Lovely fresh apartment/suite. Great helpful staff. They researches restaurants for places offering what we wanted, printed maps, and even made reservations for us. Offered tea, coffee, sake, beer, and a wide range of kitchen goods to borrow. Suite was pleasant, roomy, and clean, with beautiful decor. Comfortable beds and pillows. Great bathrooms. Only downside was lack of basic cooking items such as salt and cooking oil. I’m guessing Covid plays a part in not having shared supplies.
Location is great. Walkable to Nishiki Market, Nijo Castle, and Imperial Palace. Public transport close by and taxis easy, too. Would stay again.

Interesting apartment hotel with complementary beer and tea at different times of the day. Rooms were new and comfortable, with projector screen TV which my kids loved. My kids also loved playing with the hotel staff at the reception area, especially Menika. We'll be back again next year!

Our family had a wonderful stay here. We came from different time zones so having separate bedrooms was very helpful in preserving sleep. We stayed in a Japanese style suite and it was very clean and nicely decorated. Loved having an actual washer/dryer in the suite since it allowed us to pack lighter (when we had difficulty with operating the machine, the front desk person came up to help right away). We also enjoyed free coffee (they also had free beer) and the fully equipped kitchen. This place is also conveniently located (7/11, Lawson, subway station nearby) and our family actually walked to a lot of sightseeing places (~30 min walk to Gion, Kiyomizu-dera, etc). Would definitely stay here again, especially if traveling with a group.

Very nice, spacious and modern apartment along with attentive staff. We really enjoyed our stay and it was close enough to walk to the shopping area along Shijo Street and Nishiki Market. Will be looking forward to our next stay and (hopefully) longer visit in Kyoto.
