The little “garden” they have for the rooms is amazing
The insects but is normal in this kind of weather

Salsa group lesson for free most evenings.
They only told us about each activity just before it happened, it would have been nice to know about it in advance.

it’s social but not a party hostel, it’s so comfortable and the staff can help you with anything you need, you can have common areas or solo areas so you get space
can’t really think of anything lol maybe a lil too social for remote workers

What a fabulous hostel! It's the biggest one I stayed at in Cali. It's so bright and, because it's on a hill, there's a very welcome breeze and wonderful views from the terrace.
La Palmera has the best dormitories of all the 10 places I stayed in in Cali. The beds are the comfiest, the largest singles, really robust (there's no movement when someone above you is climbing up or down), all come with black curtains, a private fan and light. The lockers are huge and so double up as wardrobes so the room was always tidy with no bags around the place. (I stayed in a 6 bed, mixed ensuite).
There's an enormous table which is perfect for remote workers/digital nomads as well as an outdoor space with tables and seating which is just lovely, plus hammocks to chill out in, the brill terrace with lots of seating options as well as a coffee shop and large chilled reception. There are also outdoor hammock and seating areas.
The kitchen/dining was the best of all the hostels. There's an enormous island with hobs where up to 16 of us could cook breakfast or other meals, at the same time. Tons of pots/pans, crockery etc. Breakfast is included (cereals, toast, coffee/tea, 2 eggs). They also have the best food storage systems (cute baskets with masking tape) and enough shelves and fridges for everybody's baskets. The big dining table also meant great conversations.
The hostel puts on free salsa lessons but I can't comment as I didn't go to those. It also has a studio downstairs for private classes.
The staff were lovely.
This is being super-picky just so travellers have lots of info.
La Palmera is up a bit of a hill and is that little bit further away from things. Not a big deal at all if you like walking and hills as I do but you just have to factor in a small little bit of extra time if you want to walk to the dance schools or nighttime dancing options or indeed the supermarkets.
This hostel is fabulous. The private rooms come with outdoor space, table/chairs and hammocks. There's a female-only dorm. Staff super helpful. Food tour and more go from here. Excellent hostel.

Nice-looking, atmospheric place perfect for meeting travelers and taking salsa lessons. The kitchen facilities were sublime and the staff was overall really sympathetic and helpful. Was able to stay 2 more nights only because they were so helpful. Also they have a sweet-heart dog.

Friendly staff and nice social vibes!
A few basic spices could be available for guests, salt, pepper and oil for cooking!

The staff is really nice, the spaces good enough (solo rooms seems to be more comfortable), but still good for a shared room. The social areas are big and well decorated.
I cannot mention something bad just improvements or suggestions like provide hands soap and clarify in the booking post that the included breakfast is diy

It was exceptional. The way a hostel everywhere should be managed.

The staff, especially José and his wife, was super friendly and helpful with everything. The free salsa classes are nice to give it a try. They organise evening activities in the city, so you don't have to go alone, which is more safe. The private room was super spacious with great modern interior, a balcony and a great view. The atmosphere is also great.

AMAZING staff (shout out to José and Martina the owner, and Natasha ;))
They care so much about your well-being, I arrived a bit sick, and José was the sweetest.
Also, they organise salsa or batchata classes every day for free, and each night of the week, we go a to different bar, the amount of care is so heart warming.
The beds are super confortables, that’s is a huge PLUS, the curtains gives you the needed privacy.
The hostel is huge so a lot a places to chill a plan your next days.
Showers (in a outside the dorm) are super clean with a good pression.
the terrace is also very nice
It’s located in an area a little uphill, but that’s just the city, so not much you can do about it.

it’s a really nice hostel, in a good and quiet location. there’s a rooftop terrace, coworking spaces, coffeeshop and dancing classes.
the beds are comfortable and the curtains give you enough privacy.
you have to make your own breakfast. there’s just granola and eggs. for me as a vegan there wasn’t much to eat, as they didn’t even have fresh fruits. so we ended up esting elsewhere.
we wanted to do the foodtour they advertise, but the girl at reception forgot to tell us that it starts at another hostel and so we ended up being to late. i mean mistakes can happen, but she just didn’t care.
