Spectacular

This is one of the nicest and most unique lodges we've found. Love the western, mountain themed decor and vibes. Our room was really nice and clean, the owners put a lot of care into this charming hotel. Chama is a neat little town that feels like stepping back in time. Right by the Cumbres and Toltec train depot, there's a strong sense of history. We were here during January on a backcountry snowboarding trip and this was the perfect hotel for a few days. During the summer it would be awesome to stay here when the train is running.

We had to leave to go back to work. Would have loved to stay another night or two. Honestly there is nothing bad to say about this hotel.

Loved the decorating and location to the train depot.

Charming, upscale decorating. I liked just walking a short walk to the train yard and depot and dining- never needed my car.

Slight traffic noise from our road facing room.

Wonderful

Beautiful rustic Appointments. Comfortable and well thought out! We were here for the train ride. Couldn’t be closer. Close to restaurants. Highly recommend!

It was beautiful!

It was awesome, I’m not one for internet, but it was simple to book the room and we both loved it we sat on the patio and enjoyed to view!

The stay was awesome for being a first time visit to Chama. The surrounding mountains were awesome!

Everything we had in the room was enough for what we needed. We did not request room service at any point (ie: extra towels, daily cleaning, clean sheets). The room was nicely decorated and eye appealing. The bathroom / shower was extra large and water pressure was excellent. I would book this location again.

We could have used a small table inside the room but overall it was nice. Wasn't a fan of the chairs out on the balcony. Would have preferred something more comfortable.

It was excellent.

The only complaint was that Chama did not have traditional nearby restaurant open. They were closed and/or did not accomodate the train schedule. The Loft was exceptional. We enjoyed. It very much.

Our room had the charm of earlier times, with southwestern art and furnishings and the modern comforts, cozy bed and bar

Comfortable, charming, very welcoming and helpful. Loved the balcony and proximity to town.

Very good

The property was fine. The rail trip was good. The two main breakfast places were good. Finding a place to have a good evening dinner impossible. The village of Chama needs to recruit at least two good restaurants for serving dinner.

Very clean. It looked exactly like pictures that were advertised! Beautifully decorated. The room was very comfortable

Comfortable room and ease of check in and out made our stay very pleasant!

The location was fantastic, especially as we were looking to stay near the train depot. The room was decorated well, and all the attention to detail was top notch. Our room was very comfortable and extremely quiet and clean.

The only suggestion I would make, is that being someone who is only 5’0; it was impossible for me to see into the bathroom mirror over the sink. I was able to use the lighted mirror provided on the wall, but a step stool or other option would have been much appreciated.

Very comfortable bed. Easy access. Unique room.

Great place to stay. Mind the stairs!

There are no restaurants within the downtown area of Chama. None within walking distance. Also, the room was pretty dark and had inadequate lighting.

Very romantic room to stay in for our anniversary.

The location is excellent if you are there to ride the train. The rooms were cozy and very stylish. Loved everything about the room. Balcony view. Though we brought our own, there was a very nice supply of soap, shampoo, and lotion. The way you are checked in and out is modern and real easy.

There wasn't anything we didn't like about the room.

Amazing stay!

The location of Sterling and Sage was perfect. Couldn't be better. The room and setup was great. So many details and amenities available. Beautiful renovations to this property. Loved the contactless check-in process. Great communication along the way.

Wonderful place to stay in downtown Chama!

Gorgeous, uniquely furnished room. Especially wonderful bathroom. Right next to train station. Noise-proof windows. Everything was great.

We loved everything. At first I was leery that the owners are not on the premises but it was not a problem. They provide codes to get in and someone is in the store downstairs if you have any questions. Some noise from other guests.

Good communication with inn keepers and easy check-in. Great location - short walk to Cumbres & Toltec station. Suggestion for railfans - request a room overlooking the C&T rail yard.
