About this cabin rental

Welcome to Frog Pond Cabin a Quiet cabin located in the Estates at Lake Harmony, PA. The place to be in the Poconos as we are centrally located to events occurring in all four seasons. Although we are in the quietest section at the Lake, all the action is a moment away. Whether you like the beach, lake activities, restaurants, night life, NASCAR, skiing, water park, and more it’s all here. It’s a nice break from the daily grind. The space A quiet cabin nestled on almost an acre of land. Large grassy backyard with fire pit and off-street parking for 6 plus cars. Cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, hot tub, 3 fireplaces (2 propane, 1 wood burning), game room, 5 TVs ( three new smart tv’s and two with Fire Sticks, two decks for entertaining, and a patio. Guest access Guests have access to the entire cabin except for one bedroom closet and cabinet over laundry machines for owner supplies. Frog Pond Guide for your stay: To make this easier to read, we started each section with a title so you can pick and choose what to read. Beach Tags(Memorial Day to Labor Day). We provide up to ten tags for our registered guests. They are hung on the inside of the laundry room door next to the kitchen. This is the max amount we can obtain based on legal occupancy through the township. There will be a $25 per tag fee for each lost/unreturned tag as we are charged to replace them and they do not do that easily. If you realize you have accidentally taken one home, please contact us immediately. The beach is located at South Lake Drive and Wood Street. There is a parking lot next to it. Hot tub. We keep it set at the max temp of 104 degrees. It can be lowered or raised with the easy to use control panel. It can raise the temp about 3 degrees per hour. To cool it lower temp setting and leave cover part way off for a bit. Please add one teaspoon of chlorine shock after each use into the filer housing under the cup tray in the hot tub. The chlorine shock is located in the back room on the shelf above the mini fridge in a white bin. Smoking. Not permitted. Additional fees may apply to remediate the smoke smell. Please don’t smoke in our home. We vacation here to and are non-smokers. Thank you. Trash. On the street, there is a wooden bear box for trash and recycles. Please keep the box closed as black bears do occasionally walk through the street and rip open the trash. Should this happen please clean it up and rebag it. In general, keep all trash in a bag and place it inside the cans. We have left some bear spray (like mace for humans) in the camping chair outback just as a precaution. Black bears historically are not aggressive and just want your trash. We suggest keeping all trash in the house or in the bear box and NOT left on the deck or back patio. AC unit is a mini-split, not central air. It is plenty enough to cool the whole house, but give it a little time and start with the rear door closed to the back room. The remote is hung on the wall next to the unit. We also use the provided floor fans to move the air around as well as the six ceiling fans. BBQ grill…. Slowly turn knobs on the grill and tank as there is a safety shut off feature built-in. If starting it is an issue shut everything off slowly, wait five minutes with the lid open to ventilate it, and start again. Water and hot water heater. There are switches to turn on the well pump and two hot water heaters in the closet under the stairs. You’ll find them next to the electric panel. Wi-Fi runs throughout the house and we have a signal repeater set-up to ensure good coverage. Fireplaces. The living room fireplace has a switch on the side of the stone that can control the gas pilot. The remote for this fireplace is behind the sofa. The front room fireplace has a remote on top of the unit by the TV. The back room fireplace is a real wood-burning fireplace. Please take caution not to burn the new flooring in that room. There is a burn-resistant rug at the foot of it. We supply enough wood for a small fire or two. Fans. Floor and window fans are left in the house to circulate warm/cool air for your convenience. Windows vs AC. Depending on the weather during your stay you may choose open windows, A/C, or both at various times. It doesn’t get unbearably hot with the tree cover. Evenings and mornings are typically cooler and open windows may suffice. At some point if it’s a hotter day, you’ll decide on using the A/C. Close up interior areas you are not using until the house feels cool. Iron and hairdryer. Are both in a drawer in the upstairs bedroom with the king-size bed. Campfires. A lake rule is to have the water hose hooked up, turned on, and within a short distance to quickly put out a fire. Remember that we have some drought like conditions at times and fires can spread quickly. Root’s underground are a primary concern for fires. There is some firewood at the fire pit. We have left some bear spray in a camping chair around the fire pit as a precaution. See black bear notes under trash. Bugs. Although it’s widely known that insects, specifically mosquitoes are attracted to light there are some things you can do to minimize the picnic they can have on your arms and legs while staying at the cabin. One is don’t leave the exterior light on at any door that you routinely come in and out of it night as they will be attracted to the light bulb and then every time you open the door they will scoot inside the house and bother you inside the house for hours to come. We do have a non-zapping bug zapper on the front deck that you can turn on while you’re sitting out there to reduce the amount of pesky insects around you. Twist the body of it to to turn on/off. We would suggest you put that away from the area you were sitting in so that they were attracted away from you. Wildlife. Although the deer are very cute the more you feed them the more they’re gonna try and gain your attention. Any food trash you have do not leave on the deck overnight or close to the house every once in a while a bear will come through and they will rip apart the trash looking for food. We suggest keeping it in the house until you’re ready to walk a bag of it down to the bear box and put it in the bear box. Dining out. Although this is not an exclusive list when we vacation here we’ve come to have a few of our own favorites but please feel free and encourage you to try any dining establishment within a half hour seems to be a reasonable drive for us. For breakfast we like to go to Piggy’s down by the lake. We go back-and-forth between Nicks Lakehouse and Shenanigans for lunch and maybe dinner. Louis’ prime steakhouse is not inexpensive but the food is fantastic! We like to go there for dinner every once in a while. And let’s not forget everybody’s favorite ice cream parlor Hog Heaven. The backyard. One of our favorite things to do is sit on the small rear deck on a Friday or Saturday night during the summer and you can hear the live rock bands playing outside down at Split Rock. It’s not too loud it sounds just like a radio playing in the distance but being a musician it’s pretty cool to just sit there with an ice tea and enjoy live music. Driveway. Parking for 6 vehicles. Street parking is not allowed and will be enforced by the HOA. Any fines are transferred to the guest. There is a security camera aimed in the driveway from the front steps to monitor actual occupancy and for during vacant times. Our little pond. This is one of our favorite places at the lake. We love to just sit on the front deck and listen to the little waterfall go into the pond. It is on the timer set for a few hours a day in the morning in the evening which can be adjusted for you should you request it. We just please ask that you respect the wildlife that lives here, specifically the family of bullfrogs. From time to time will see deer or other animals walk right up to our little pond and get a drink especially during the hot summer months. It’s a pretty cool little feature that we feel we’re helping the animal community without inviting them into our living room so to speak. Boating and canoeing. If you have a canoe feel free to launch it from the beach parking lot. The marina is private access only for motorized boats. Please reach out to us if you intend on bringing your boat to the lake as we will need to provide you specific access for that and discuss the lake rules as far as boating requirements. Food outside of the lake. About 15 minutes away as Dominics Pizza is one of our personal favorites good sandwiches and pizza keep in mind we grew up in Philadelphia so we’re a little fussy over pizza shops. However, there are plenty others around you that will serve you well. For food shopping we go to Hazel Park market which is near the Shell gas station you may have passed on the way in. They also serve hot meal items if you don’t want to cook you can buy a couple hot platters as well as hoagies and other ready to eat food items.

My Dad has been trying to get together a Pocono weekend for the past few years, so this year we decided to go for his birthday! The property was everything we were looking for, very cozy, clean, and comfortable. The hosts were above and beyond accommodating, even putting up birthday decorations and making sure we had a delicious birthday cake for my Dad. (I may have cried a little when I walked in, LOL). The weather was a little warmer than expected, so we opted out of skiing/snowboarding. However, Big Boulder resort could be seen from the end of the street if we had decided to go. We spent plenty of time outside in the hot tub, by the fire pit, and taking some nice long walks through the neighborhood. When we got a little rain, there was an abundance of games to choose from to keep the fun going. Overall, we could not have had a better experience and I would recommend this stay to anyone!

This home situated in Lake Harmony, PA., is just perfect for a family to relax and enjoy beautiful autumn nature. Our lovely hosts, Lori and James, provided everything to make this stay an easy and effortless place to unpack, unwind, and enjoy family and surroundings. Our hosts were always available and checked in through texts to make sure we were happy. The property was spotless, fully loaded with essentials in the kitchen and rooms, plus added snacks for our eating pleasure. You can tell meticulous care and planning went into making this a haven for happy memories. Most importantly, Lori and James exhibit the caring and genuine concern that shines in every room in the house. We truly had a very positive experience!
