About this house rental

Nestled in Chappaquiddick Island, this attractive house for $522 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. The main attraction of this house is it is located close, 1 mile from the Chappy Ferry, and a 10 minute walk to the Ocean to the North, or 10 minute walk to Caleb’s Pond, saltwater, West. Great for swimming, clamming, hiking, or fishing - yet still just 1 mile to the Center of Dock Street in Edgartown where everything is within walking distance. The most convenient parking lot in Edgartown is Chappaquiddick! When your here you are in the middle of everything yet totally sheltered at the end of a curving 300 foot driveway on a completely private 1.5 acres adjacent to a 10 acre natural buffer. The house is conveniently located a 10-minute walk to the nearest beach. You can use the “beach cart” with some beach chairs, and sun umbrella and either walk, or drive the 1/4 mile to the beach walking access from Chappaquiddick Road. There are 4 more easy beach access paths between this closest one and the Chappy Ferry landing. For fishing and surf for experienced swimmers just go down Chappaquiddick Road East for the Trustees of Reservations Beach entrances. Chappaquiddick is a unique, special vacation place. Where we are located is in a quiet, secluded neighborhood on a private road that is just 1 mile to the Chappy Ferry and the center of Edgartown. This 100% solar electric 2-story house with cathedral ceilinged great room, 4-bedrooms, and 2-baths has the unique advantage of being really close to Edgartown, and yet secluded and private on a 1.5 acre lot on Chappy. It is fully equipped with all the modern communication conveniences like WiFi, Tesla Starlink, 50” flatscreen TV with streaming including Roku with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, Curiosity Channel and Comcast Peacock. Alexa is ready to answer questions and play your music in an air conditioned 2nd floor great room as well as three air conditioned bedrooms. You just need to bring your sheets and towels. It's really close to the ocean, clamming, endless walking trails, and great bike riding on the quiet Chappy byways. This is a place you can unwind, relax, and recharge, and then go in to town for dinner, a movie, or shopping in the many boutiques and stores. NO PETS. NO SMOKING. If you haven't been to Chappaquiddick, you should come and see for yourself. If you know Chappy, you know what we are talking about. We work very hard to deliver a comfortable, great location for a family Vineyard vacation. Good TV with Starlink to run streaming on Chappy, high speed WiFi, Induction range, lots of air conditioning (including Midea units in Great Room), Alexa for fun, beach cart to make it easy to get to the close water accesses, large outside raised decks to enjoy, all in a 2000 sq ft house. The biggest attraction is the great, convenient location. And, last but not at all least, we invite families, with kids, to our house where we bring our grandkids. Mostly they sleep in the house, and spend their vacation outdoors. Comfortable, without obsessing about designer furniture, which we don’t have. Nor do we charge for it in the rent.

A great spot. Could use a few updates and some bathroom fans but definitely priced right for the location. Chappy is such a great place!

We knew it wouldn’t be the Ritz, but the house wreaked of mildew and mold the moment we opened the door. Because the bedrooms are in the basement; carpets, blankets, and mattresses were consistently damp. Turning on the window air conditioner units only condensed things and made it worse! In addition to the mold smell, they had plugged in Bell & Howell Ultrasonic Pest Repellers (mice?), there were bugs, and just a general disrepair of the house. Oh yes, almost forget to mention the run down car in the driveway filled with mouse poop. When my 1-year-old developed a hacking cough by our 2nd morning, we decided to move her pack n’ play to the loft area. Her cough remained for the week. We all experienced nasal congestion, sneezing, sinus headaches, and fatigue. We messaged the owner, who did immediately call, but gave us an “is what it is” explanation, there’s nothing that can be done about the humidity and moisture. He stated he wasn’t even sure why anyone would visit in July anyway due to the weather. He stated we had already gotten the place for cheaper than anywhere else on the Vineyard, so any kind of discount was out of the question. He would only refund the entirety, but our ferry home was booked for days later. We were stuck. We were forced to make the best of it. But we certainly learned our lesson! My best advice, spend a little more money somewhere else for comfort and peace of mind!

The outside decks are great, and the beach really is a 10-15 min walk away. If you rent your self a bike you’ll be able to go wherever you like. Would definitely stay again.

The house was nice. A little outdated but clean. The upstairs had a large living room, dining area and kitchen. The 4 bedrooms were downstairs.

We’ve been going to MV since our kids were little and know no house is “perfect”. This is the third time we’ve stayed on Chappy and love it! This house has so much potential with the high deck that makes you feel like you’re in a tree house and the location. It was nice to walk in on our first day to find a note from the owners, classical music playing on the Alexa along with a few cans of soda and a bottle of wine from Clint and Linda. However, it is a very dirty house. I wish I could post the pictures I have of the unvacuumed carpet (I don’t think the corners of the rooms have seen a vacuum in years) cobwebs, both dead and alive spiders everywhere, carpeted bathroom with even a carpeted toiled and peeling spackle in the shower. We found the vacuum in an attempt to clean the house but it was in poor shape and didn’t have enough suction to pick up the dirty on the carpet or and acorn shells in my bedroom closet that a mouse or squirrel had enjoyed. The vacuum was strong enough for my husband to suck up the spiders and moths off of the ceiling/walls so we could fall asleep but honestly, the owner NEEDS to hire professional cleaners. That house has not see a cleaner in a verrrrrrrry long time and needs some serious updating especially during a pandemic. We had an awesome trip to MV but spent very little time at the house because it wasn’t nice. I felt really bad that my husband spent so much money, and we felt like we were “glamping”. This isn’t fair! The owners have several houses on the island, and write their own positive reviews.

House is spacious , big enough for our group of 8 and a big dog. Need good cleaning ( lots of dead bugs and spider webs). Lower level needs TLS. Intense smell of mold in all bedrooms and lover bathroom. Great location! Very close to all restaurants ,bars and ice cream places in Edgartown. Just 2 miles to beautiful East Beach.
