Just what we needed as a family but the building just needs a bit of loving.
The location was lovely
Very dated. Some of furniture was in poor condition with the vinyl pealing off of the wardrobes and drawers. Also some of the bedding had stains on them.

Lovely area but beware of accommodation
Location and surrounding area was lovely, lodge is a good base for visiting the villages and local attractions.
The lodge was well appointed but quite dated and was extremely dirty in areas. Upon arrival we had to clean the lodge for ourselves before we felt comfortable to stay there: * Oven and grill pans had not been cleaned since previous guests, the pans were greasy with food residue evident. Other pans were also grubby. * Living room carpet did not appear to have been vacuumed - this was evident by a previous guests toenail clippings in the carpet. * We tried to clean the decking area so that we could use it, when moving the door mat to sweep it disintegrated. * The toilet brush in the en-suite was disgusting. *The windows and french doors in the living room were all covered in marks and dirty hand/finger prints that were clearly visible. * The second bedroom carpet was dirty and had not been cleaned, again this was evident by the (clearly visible) pringles on the floor between the bed and bedside cabinet and the sweet wrappers. *Blue mould on the bottom of a terracotta dish that we got out of the kitchen cupboard. *The photos of the decking area show a lovely rattan furniture set for guests to enjoy - this is not the case. We found the furniture piled up around the corner of the lodge, covered in leaves and dirt and was unusable unless we pulled in all out, and cleaned it first. *General appearance of the lodge being unloved, there were cobwebs on the walls in the kitchen area, stains on carpets etc * The photos of the second bedroom are very deceiving. It is extremely small, the bed sticks out across the doorway leaving only a 9 inch gap for you to enter the room. At most it is only suitable for two small children. We have raised a complaint with Booking.com but they have been unable to contact the lodge owners despite trying on several occasions.

A disappointing experience.
The combined living room/ dining room and kitchen worked fine and were spacious enough. The lodge was mostly warm and the heating could be adjusted. The kitchen was well equipped. The bedding was clean and warm.
The lodge had an unloved appearance inside - grubby skirting boards, creased curtains that were far too long for the windows, etc. The twin room was very cramped, so small that my husband had to leave his clothes in the bathroom overnight as there wasn't even an inch of floor space to leave them on. The lake was drying out, mostly now sticky mud and rather an eyesore, although when full it had obviously been very attractive. Using the appliances was difficult because most of them had been replaced over time and the new instructions NOT put in the instruction folder. For instance the wi-fi had completely changed with different password etc. and we had to get a maintenance man in to sort it out. The microwave was a Daewoo with symbols on the control panel that were completely unintelligible to us and we had to spend some time on Google trying to find a manual that would let us use it, and the dishwasher was controlled remotely, which we are not familiar with. However, there were a lot of now out-of-date instructions in the manual folder. The roadway up to the lodge site was extremely poorly maintained and we were thankful that we drive a 4 x 4 which could cope with the continuous and deep potholes, which many saloon cars would not have managed.
