We stay here regularly & love it!

Great location. Rooms are very small with little storage. Needs an upgrade of room. 4 chairs at pool. 3 were broken. Talked to desk about it, no response.

The location of the hotel is great. A block from the main square. I must have gotten the worst room in the house. It was on a dark hallway with no other rooms on it. A room numbered 37, across the hall, was actually a utility area which meant I had lots of talking in front of my door early in the morning. My front door jammed on the floor and could not be completely opened. The bathroom had a cracked wall in the shower stall and the door to the shower stall would not close.

The common areas were very nice.
The staff at the front desk were very disinterested. I would say, the least friendly group in town. I am a Spanish speaker so it was not a language barrier. It was an interest barrier.

Fantastic location close to central plaza. Only warning is that if you have a rental car, the hotel has no parking on site. It’s a 4 block hike to get to the parking lot they use.

We stayed for 3 nights. The first night wasn't good. We couldn't access wifi in our room, it was in a dark corner if the hotel, and the room itself wasn't in great condition. We asked to be moved the next morning and went out for the day. Out things were moved for us to a much better room. The wifi worked and it was much nicer. Never tried the breakfast. I'd say as long as you're in a normal room, this place is perfect. Good price, unbeatable location, charming building, quiet.

It's a great place at a reasonable rate. Im 6'3", 260 lbs. the shower was tight getting in and out, if larger than me it will be a problem.

It is always pleasant and relaxing there. We love the location and the garden in the center. The rooftop pool is a treat although the water could have been more inviting.

Beautiful hotel, Spanish and Colonial Style, very original. Friendly staff, clean, and comfortable. Pool on the 3rd floor, I shimmed at night time, the water was warm and pleasant. We celebrated or wedding anniversary, it was a very nice get away. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I highly recommend it.

Older, charming and clean hotel with helpful staff. They even arranged an early a.m. taxi for us. Location is close to the grande plaza and very walkable.

We had difficulty checking in. There was confusion concerning our reservation. They insisted that we had booked two rooms for just the two of us. It took far too long to clear up the confusion. Apparently another person with the same first name reserved the additional room. Not the same last name.

The roof top pool is very nice and the views of Merida were very nice.
The door frame to our room had gaps which made the door lock insecure. It is important to make the guests feel safe when staying in the hotel. It would also be an improvement to have night tables on both sides of the bed. Family members in another room never had hot water.

We visited the Hotel Caribe after not being there for some years. We first stayed in the hotel in 1978 and were happy that it retained its great ambience.

My shower nor my toilet did not work well and the hot water did not as well. The mini fridge was on the floor. The pool only had two loungers vs the picture you see and the water was not as clean. Assistance to help at counter very slow moving.

Parking is about 2.5 blocks away. Also last day, the toulet reservoir stop working.
But they were accomodating with an extra day I had to stay.

AC did not work, blew hot air. Maintenance came and did something. Went out for a couple hours and it still was not working. Repacked all our stuff and got another room. No hot water in new room. Maintenance came, ran shower for 1/2 hr while he left room. I checked with front desk to find out where he went. He was at the boiler room. He came back and said 40 min there will be hot water. Nope, cold water showers for 4 days. I went to reception on 3 night to say it was not acceptable and that I would like a

There is a nice roof top pool but only 4 lounge chairs. The included breakfast was okay - eggs, toast, coffee and juice or fruit al fresco. Waiters were very attentive as was front desk.

First the Hotel Caribe is a very beautiful, historic property. It has a wonderful Mexico/Caribbean feeling to it. The open atrium is beautiful and has a very exotic feeling with tropical plants and a beautiful fountain. And in front of the hotel is a very beautiful open plaza with just enough activity to make it interesting but not too busy. And you are just 2 blocks from Merida's beautiful/bustling zocalo.
The management and staff at the Caribe are all professional, pleasant, and focused on their clientele. They were consistently accommodating to my special requests, and in one particular instance went above and beyond to help this hapless traveler.
This was my third time staying at the Hotel Caribe, and I will return again.

We changed hotels after one night. The lighting was horrible and the walls weren’t clean. Parking is far away.

The hotel is lovely with a mature garden in the courtyard and small pool on the roof. It is situated in a small plaza between three other major plazas where there is live music and markets almost every night. Many restaurants, theaters and shops are very close. Its a great value.

Lots of mosquitos. I could not sleep...too many misquitos. Staff said that nothing could be done; I say that they are wrong FUMIGATE!!!
