Location is beautiful. The rooms are comfortable, good bed but it’ll be better if the carpeting is removed.
Overall, great stay.

The property, while older, has been maintained well. The tower we were in was on the south side next to the beach and had been recently renovated. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent. Try to avoid the north tower, the Sheraton next door is VERY loud with there luau.

We obtained a great price on our rooms right before the sale to Outrigger. Now we feel fortunate to have stayed there because the rates have doubled with the new ‘resort’ title.
The staff is very friendly and always helpful.
Still with new owners and pricing up, we enjoyed the property and location. The Maui Brew is the new on-site restaurant and it was lively and has a great menu.
We did miss the properties nightly hula shows that we attended from previous visits.
We were pleased to see that the property was housing some of the local residents displaced from the Lahaina fire
It’s a great spot, just miss the local feel of KBH.

Beautifully situated, nice gardens & rooms. Excellent location for beach & shopping.Staff very polite and helpful. Not too open with communication, tho', didnt know about the extra daily $35 hotel charge until recieved an surprise charge on my card. Loved the gift shop, good stuff well priced there. Dislikes were the pool was COLD and the breakfast offered was a self serve buffet but $30p/p so I thought too expensive to enjoy. Overall great stay but a few misses there.

Loved everything except the pillows, too soft!

We loved the staff. They took such pride in the hotel and wished to share their culture with the guests. This was tremendously memorable to us.

Beautiful property. Staff was friendly. Thoughtful complimentary gifts like beach bags and water bottles. The room we stayed at was updated and spacious. There's also a cultural center with free classes you can take where the staff educates you on native plants. I would stay here again.

Older property but well maintained. The staff is top notch. Super nice and smiling people. Over head room was consistantly noisy all week. The on site restaurant doesnt open until 4pm. The hotel has Lahina refugees living on site and in cars in the underground parking area. Beware of the $35 daily charge for Outrigger hotels. No added value for the added charge, but you will be charged just the same. $20 a day to park your car. Unfortunately they are nickle and diming people on extras instead of just being upfront. Adding $600 for the stay isn't small change, at least for us. Live and learn, but I'll make sure I check the fine print in the future and wouldn't stay here again.

Huihui restaurant replaced by Maui brewing company a downgrade from my perspective

Despite the devastation suffered by the resident of Lahaina the staff was very welcoming and so gracious. We were to grateful to have spent a week in Maui. The ceremony to wish guests a safe journey was especially emotional and will forever be in our memory.

The billing was mysterious and overcharged for every nickel & dime.

Loved our stay in Maui! The property is a little outdated. But, it is in a perfect location! Close to great food and beverage. Would stay again!

Loved absolutely everything! Convenient location for swimming, snorkeling, shopping and dining at Whalers Village. Every single staff member smiled and said “Aloha” and seemed sincere. Grounds are beautiful and impeccably kept up. Housekeeping perfect! We were upgraded to a nicer room and were so pleased. Going back for sure!

Hotel is still recovering from wildfire events last summer, so breakfast restaurant is still not opened and you receive a kind of breakfast pack if your booking includes it. Other than that, staffing is gentle and helpful, hotel activities are pretty interesting and recommended if you want to learn about Hawaian culture and traditions. The beach is incredible and the location is top. Hope they can recover everything and back to normal soon to give guests all the potential this hotel has.

Right in front of the beach… amazing! Best spot for snorkeling, by the rock, very close. Only downside is that everything is extra, from breakfast to dinner. Hawaii has no all inclusive resorts, so get your pockets ready. Worth every penny though.

Loved staying here! The staff were very friendly. We were upgraded to a premium room and it was very spacious and minutes to the beach. Excellent snorkelling at Black Rock and even better at Airport beach (other side of black rock). Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed 2-5 Nov 2023. We had a 1BR King with Oceanfront view, and our room was in the Papaku wing. It was a couple's vacation.
This being after the Lahaina fire, we were not sure how the trip would go. But the resort itself had all infrastructure working - water, electricity, wifi, AC all worked fine. Our room was apparently a recently remodeled room, and there were no issues. Very nice view of the ocean.
Food was a bit of an issue. Nothing really formal open for breakfast or lunch other than a to-go shop and very small window to make take out food. The Maui Brewing Company is in the resort, but it was only open 4:30 to 9PM. We anticipated this and bought small things for breakfast at a market, and for lunch did get things like a sandwich from the to-go shop.
The pool was a little dated, but OK. No hot tub.
Whaler's Village is a 5 minute walk at most from the resort. Lots of dining options there (recommend Leilani's as the best, but the pirate "food truck" wasn't bad).
We rented casabellas and umbrellas for the beach, with tax about $110 each day. They were set up just fine by the excellent staff there. The Black Rock for jumping and (just OK) snorkeling is perhaps a 5 minute walk on the sand north.
Onsite self parking was $20 per day.
The resort is housing some of the displaced residents from the fire. No issues there, everyone was polite and/or pleasant. But overall the resort did not seem busy at all. We were guessing it was still under-occupied.

Seems unfair that I'm rating this property since I didn't stay here. My rating is based on the fact that I was not notified that our reservation was cancelled. We arrived and were notified at the property that we couldn't stay there as the resort was closed, with good reason of course. Just upsetting that we were not informed ahead of time so we can make other arrangements. I had called 2 weeks prior to confirm our reservation and they said we were good to go.
We had find another place to stay for the week.

Stayed in the older rooms and they are in need of some maintenance. Nothing serious we couldn't stay with but the A/C dripped all day onto the bathroom sink/counter area. Could hear our neighbor's conversations easily with limited privacy. Location is everything, convenience to snorkeling, beach, and some shopping is unbeatable. Went on regular evening walks with my significant other and it was great.

The location is perfect for beach days. You can dip in the pool and then turn around and float in the ocean. Staff is amazing and super helpful and nice. However, we arrived during the tradition between ownership and it wasn’t conveyed that the restaurants would be closed during our stay and that the cultural events might not happen. The staff, again, was amazing but they didn’t even know what was going on and couldn’t answer our questions. I hope Outrigger keeps the wonderful cultural aspects of this hotel and realize how wonderful the staff is.

A lovely staff. It is a no frills hotel but staff are friendly and my room was clean. What more could you ask for?!

We stayed here for the last night of 14 days in Hawaii and this was by far, the most disappointing location (out of 5) for the following reasons:
- The hotel was old and dated and felt like it was from the 70's / 80's with dingy carpet and color schemes.
- Very small bathroom.
- The shampoo / conditioner they offered was very watery and not good quality.
- The thermostat was manual and not digital so it was hard to get the temperature right.
- The bed was very lumpy and I ended up sleeping at an angle all night.
- They were going through an ownership change and the one night we were there, the restaurant was completely closed.
- Hula classes they said were going to be offered were not actually available when my wife went to register in the morning.
We "splurged" for a resort for our last night. And while the beach itself was huge and looked very nice, the hotel itself was very disappointing. We had very high expectations for the quality after paying $360+ for the room. But it was very disappointing and it was unfortunate that our last night in Hawaii was spent at this location. It felt like a big letdown from the other amazing locations we had been at across Maui and the Big Island.
Then, when we went to checkout, the front desk ended up charging us for the room that we had already prepaid for on hotels.com so clearly their software isn't working correctly either. Luckily I caught it before we left and had to wait while they figured it out and reversed the charges.
