The hotel is really charming. Disappointed that we stayed on Mother's Day and the award winning restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday.
Our room was small, 9x12. Not enough room for furniture so you have to live out of your suitcase and place it on the bed when not sleeping. There was only one desk with a chair and one nightstand. Very difficult to navigate.
The room was right over the roof of the restaurant. No real view. Curtains would have been nice to block that morning sun.

Pros: Room was clean, bed comfortable, WIFI easily connected. Inn is walking distance to shops and restaurants.
Cons: deferred maintenance, chipping paint, courtesy coffee urn was empty at 8:30 on Sunday and never refilled. Restaurant and bar are sparse, not interesting enough to try them. Nice shower, no tub. "free" continental breakfast unavailable on weekends.
Were it not for walking proximity to the shops and academy, it might be a hard sell. Our first trip to the area, will look elsewhere next time.

It was a nice stay at the Exeter in. We were in room 203. It was a nice room but the toilet valve was broken so there was the continuous sound of running water from the bathroom. A plumber needs to come fix this. Probably a waste of water!

Hotels.com said breakfast was included but it was not because we went on a weekend.

Beautifully appointed historic inn set among a gorgeous, quiet historic town. Short drive to excellent dining. Very supportive comfortable bed.

No fridge, no phone, toilet not working properly, the very minimum of a continental breakfast, heat not turned on and display not on. Waiter spilled a drink on my brother so bad he had to change his pants and attend dinner with no shoes on. Very disappointed this trip. The best part of the stay was "Nina" from the front desk. If not for her, we probably would have found another place to stay.

Taylor was her exceptional self. Always willing to help. Abby was so pleasant and helpful when checking out. This is our second visit and we will be back!

We absolutely loved it here! The bed and pillows were comfy, staff was great! Room was very clean and perfect for what we needed. Price was good too! We will definitely be back if we are in that area again.

Beautiful historic exterior, but very disappointing interior rooms and spaces….. in desperate need of renovation / redocrating. Linens not very soft (not quality of 4 star hotel) and no robes in the room. It was clean, but very looking outdated rooms. Also no phones in the rooms…. so tried using cell to call for extra towels about 8 pm and no one answered all evening.

A rather dour experience. Check in with a lady who was likely Eastern European.
Not at all welcoming. Stiff and cold.
Property lacks warmth with little charm.

Beautiful location, lovely old hotel in the heart of this beautiful town. Amazing value. It’s showing its age but you can tell that significant improvements are underway. Our bathroom, for example, had elegant new tile and fixtures but the wall paper was quite drab. Needs new carpet but the linens were very nice. Everyone on staff was friendly and accommodating. Easy parking, free Continental breakfast, and very reasonable prices make it a great choice.

Quaint town. Near the academy. Breakfast is part of the resort fee.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Only complaint was repeated effort to call the hotel and never received any return call to reserve an extra night. Phone problems??

This hotel has seen better days. I generally don't stay here, it's only out of convenience.

Lovely, cozy inn. We loved the room and the bed. Only issue was accessibility. I'm on a walker and cane, and you have to use stairs to get into the Inn regardless of how you come in. ThereMs an elevator, apparently, but that doesn't help if you don't know it's there.

We were only here for a quick one night stay and everything was great- our room was comfortable and clean. The bed and pillows were very nice. Bathroom clean and room had great cozy touches! Old building with character but they have set it up with all conveniences needed. Staff attentive. We will definitely come back.

Lovely place with excellent restaurant. Exeter itself was a surprise discovery. The inn is almost on the campus of Phillips Exeter Academy. Only complaint is the rather skimpy breakfast.

The Inn is tired. The rooms need serious remodelling. Paint peeling, dirty windows, rusty air conditioner. The shower set up is terrible causing the entire bathroom floor to flood.
The staff is lovely and it’s too bad they have to deal with these types of complaints.
Also $15 for each charge for Tesla is insane given the high room rate.
Restaurant also was not open on a Friday night because of a wedding and limited staff.
I won’t be back anytime soon.

I went on this trip by myself to get a way and relax, the room was small( ok since I was alone), the dining a bit expensive but really tasty, and the shopping was wonderful. I would stay here again.

What a great inn! A friend and I stayed for three days and had a wonderful time. The staff, rooms and food were outstanding. We may go up again just because it's such a terrific place.

Was not as clean as my previous stay. The evening was cool so I opened the window and the window sill was filthy. bathroom tiles were cracked. my daughters room (304) had an odd configuration of the "glass wall" which caused the bathroom to get soaked every time the shower was used. Continental breakfast was lacking. Bagels were like rubber, def not fresh. 2nd stay here and do not think there will be a 3rd.

We went to a concert at Hampton Beach Casino so appreciated the late night check in.

Well, its is a charming town, but this property is a former dormitory converted into a hotel. The room was small and well furnished. The bathroom was small, but most annoying was the lack of a shower door. Splashing water was part of the process on its use. Continental breakfast was not really edible. A good place to sleep, but not much else.

After eight hours on the road, nice bathroom, towels, bedding. Historic brick structure. Updated bathroom.
Morning breakfast hostess was delightful!

The room we had was so "homey". The appointments were attractive and the bed was compfortable. The arm chair was a welcome accomodation.
There was some discoloration on the tile in the bathroom, perhaps rust.

Quaint inn with easy access to the train

Bathroom smelled of urine and had no rail to hold onto in the shower; as I find to be frequently the case, Expedia booking placed in a very poor room -- in this case top floor in an old building directly under the roof with dormer windows and a very noisy window AC in it. Certainly not worth the price of a night's stay!

Great staff, restaurant, menu, bar, and outdoor seating on the patio.
Morning coffee was a nice quality grind.
All good with a nice atmosphere.

We had an event to attend on Monday so we booked Sunday and Monday night. When we arrived on Sunday we were informed the bar and restaurant are closed Sunday and Monday. Had we known this prior to booking we would have booked elsewhere. The information should be clear at booking.
Our room was very nice and clean. The shower was built into an eave and had only half a glass partition. Water went all out over the tile floor. Used all the towels cleaning it up. No maid service to replace towels, coffee, cups etc. That is unacceptable
The location of this 1932 Inn building is very good with easy walking to the downtown.
The Seadog Brewery was excellent for dinner. We were seated on the upper deck and had a beautiful river view. Osprey diving and pulling fish out of the river.

Our room was so tiny that the luggage cart couldn’t fit in. No table or lamp on 1 side of bed due to closet door needing to open. Not a single photograph or piece of art on any wall. Air vent totally rusted. Wall covering starting to peel. Very disappointed.

Good location to area and downtown Exeter

My wife and I have been here several times, we are moving to the area next year. We ended up having to shorten our stay the day we were there and they went out of their way to help make it happen and get our money or a credit. The staff is top notch and it is our go to when we are up in NH or if someone asks. Great value as well with great food and bar if you want to just hang out. Nice outdoor fire pit area to top it off

Good location, clean, friendly staff.
