Amazing staff

The room had everything I needed, but it was all rather tired. The heater didn't work, the towel rail didn't work, so I spent the first night freezing cold until they brought me a portable heater. The shower was a fixed height over-bath type and the controls were virtually seized up, making it hard to turn on and off. The attached pub was good with a varied menu, but I spent little time there as I needed to be in central Portsmouth. It is a short walk to the waterfront in one direction and a large retail park in the other, so I couldn't understand why the council had no bus routes through the area. I had left my car at home (up north) and travelled down by train, only to find the nearest bus route to the hotel was a 0.8 mile walk inland. Obviously not the hotel's fault, but you would think the Ocean Retail Park would have petitioned the council? That alone would make me pay a few extra pounds to stay nearer the city next time.

Excellent food and service, had issue with room heaters but given another heater, staff very helpful, overall, decor is a little tired, and cleaning needs attention

Very old, tired looking overall. Free WiFi was useless. The bar staff on Tuesday night were great. Breakfast on Thursday was poor due to pricing, online price was £2.50 for the scrambled eggs on toast got that and a cup of tea came to payment it suddenly became £9! So it costs £6.50 for a cuppa? Queried this and the answer was that's the price on the till. Well, will not be back there again!

Room was spacious but outdated. Bathroom needs refurbishment.

Friendly staff and decent sized bed and rooms. My room could certainly have done with refurbishment as furniture and heating was outdated. Bathroom basic but functional. As staying for only one night it was ok.

To much money for nothing

Very friendly reception, easy to find and great location. Nice bar! Room was comfortable but bed a little in comfy, nothing too bad though. Would happily stay again.

Clean and tidy , staff were all friendly and professional , perfectly adequate for an overnight stay , facilities in room and general decor all dated and tired but comfy and good for the price .

Light out in room,not rectified,light out in bathroom, unable to shower,no bulb in reading light, creaking floorboards,no apology call from managers as promised,no goodwill gesture,will not stay there again.

there was no air conditioning as promised only a fan, windows didn’t open wide enough, room was boiling hot like a sauna, was a nice outside place just too hot.

The breakfast waitress is a credit to this hotel, good customer care and very pleasant. Unfortunately, guests were NOT allowed in the garden, which had a shady area, from this weeks hot sun

Food and restaurant were quite good Front desk employee (night) very personable and helpful Bathroom had a fake shower Electrical outlets ... only 2 and both inconveniently placed

No hot water on 2 of the nights ( so a cold shower ) Food one night was poor another night ok Staff were good Condition of rooms clean but needs an upgrade. Things broken in room.

Group of 8 - 4 couples - stayed and keft early for Brittany Ferry. Excellent food & staff. Recommend.

Friendly and helpful staff on arrival. Room was very dated and in need of refurbishment. Loose sink tap, loose toilet flush. Bed was clean and comfortable but the noise from the room above was so bad I had to sleep with earplugs in. Definitely wouldn’t stay again or recommend it.

We had a pleasant stay for 2 nights, The restaurant, soft play and swing park right at the hotel was an added bonus! The rooms were clean and comfortable, with plenty of space for a family of 4. Areas could be doing with being updated but it didn’t affect our stay and can’t complain for the price we paid!
