Typical Swiss hotel; clean friendly and efficient. Parking charges unexpectedly high, normally you pay nothing, but a special shout out for the sommelier in the restaurant who went out of his way to make the dinner memorable. Would happily stay there again. K

Our stay was wonderful! Kind and nice staff and the location was perfect to visit the center.

I wish we had more time there. It was absolutely gorgeous, the room was spacious and the staff was super friendly. I stayed in the off season and the rates weren’t too bad. Definitely have to come back and stay longer next time.

Staff without patience and kindness. Bed with hair and unfortunately they didn't change the pillowcases. Pillowcases crumpled and with hair strands.

The property has not been renovated at all. The rooms have mold and made my husband and I very sick. The carpets in the rooms and hallways are stained.

Wow! We loved our stay at Villa Sassa, the place is just spectacular with the views of the mountains and lake. Staff are just exceptional from front desk, restaurants and housekeeping! Very good breakfast and as well lunch and supper!! Thank you!!

Amazing location overlooking the entire city. 10 min walk downhill to the main center of the city with lots of shopping and restaurants down on the lake.

Very old rooms, bad smell in the room, poor quality for the price.

Food was excellent. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were a bit outdated and air conditioner didn’t keep the room as cool as I would have liked.

Villa sassy was okay, but very overpriced for what they offer. Decor is tired. Hallways smell of smoke and carpet cleaner. Gym is very good and pool was nice. Breakfast at 25 CHF is very overpriced and probably reflects their distance to other options.

I would like to say this has been the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever been too.. the views by the pool the views we had from our room were magnificent. I’m gonna write a few tips so it’ll be easier for the next travelers to come.. when you pull up to Lugano statione make sure you take bus number 4 to your hotel.. i didn’t realize that and had walked 12 minutes uphill.. but after knowing that this location has been very convient to travel since you are close to the train station and also close to the city center hope this helps!! Oh and breakfast was actually quite decent but this place you pay for the views and service loved our stay.

Thus was a nice property. The pool was great although be aware that it is not heated so it was chilly. Great view overlooking the mountains and lake. The restaurant was good but on the pricey side, but typical for Switzerland.

The hotel is very good : big room, well located (10 minutes walk from the trainstation and 15 from the city center), a lot of facilities. We have been very impressed by the fitness center and the spa.

The views are FANTASTIC!!
We stayed in one of the family rooms which was very spacious for four adults and 2 teens. Our kids had their own rooms. The nice added feature was an extra powder room so we weren’t clamoring around 1 restroom. AC in unit was also a nice bonus as we arrived on a very muggy day. The restaurant staff were also friendly and accommodating. You didn’t feel pressured to finish eating at a certain time. We also enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pool and saunas as well as indoor jacuzzi.
And finally check out was also a breeze.

Everything was absolutely stunning. The staff were very polite, the amenities including an indoor and outdoor pool, full gym amongst others were impeccable and the suite was very spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. Would absolutely recommend if travelling to or around Lugano. One of the highlights of our trip and absolutely plan on coming back and staying for longer next time!

Worst hotel we have seen in Switzerland.
No ac in the bedroom. The hotel will not tell you where you can get breakfast even if it’s included in your room charge. No ac anywhere on the property- it’s melting at 26 c - can not even walk the hallways without sweating.
Inconvenient pool access.
Dirty toilets.
Bad housekeeping- rings doorbell at 8:30 even after a do not disturb sign.
Overpriced restaurant- while food is mediocre at best.
This is not 4 star. Service is rude and go get yourself a better property. The whole property is in shambles. Not even painted from outside.

I had a good experience overall. It’s more of a 4 star property so very good across the board. The pool, fitness center and views of Lake Lugano are the highlights.

Nice, large room with kitchenette. Close to town center but uphill walk back to the hotel. Beautiful view partially on the lake an full on the surrounding hill sides.

The customer service could not have been any more pleasant and friendly , always there to get what you need and more, without even asking for it

A shadow of what it used to be - restaurant is still great. But receptionist are beyond bad. As well as the maintenance of the oustide. As Italian and Swiss citizen, I see that they are hiring other people from my country in order to reduce labour costs. Clearly this is highly affecting the quality of the service, with employees that speak VERY POOR english and an absolute not customer-oriented mindset. They are always self-protective and worried about any peanut money that may incur in your stay.
That's a problem happening everyone in Lugano area - hotel are using Italian mindset instead of Swiss one. May be operationally cheaper - but the guest experience, even for those willing to pay more - is greatly reduced.

Beautiful grounds and quiet area. We ordered a meal through room service. Room service fee was over priced and meal ordered wasn’t hot. On check out 6.80 franc tourism promotion fee was a surprise given weren’t aware of this and don’t understand why tourists should pay this when they bring income to area that they rely on. Worif need to better explain fees associated when making bookings. City tax estimates are always wrong also. Won’t be using wotif in future for this reason

The photographs marketing the property are completely misleading. You go in thinking you're going somewhere amazing. You find yourself in a rundown, battered, lifeless place. We were put up in a "suite" on the first day - the room didn't have blinds or curtains, no cooling and one glass was provided for 3 people. The next day we were moved to what was called an "upgraded suite" - there was aircon in the living room, but none in the bedrooms. Same issue with curtains/blinds. We had to keep the windows open in the bedrooms at night to avoid suffocating. Our room wasn't cleaned for two days in a row. Despite requesting the reception staff around midday on both the days to ask housekeeping to clean the rooms. We got back to the hotel at 8:30pm to find it unserviced and dirty. My son has autism and fell sick two days in, being hot-cold all day having no sleep. I feel ill on the third day for the very same reasons. We were so looking forward to this holiday but it was completely ruined. The hotel staff were attempting to be nice and resolve things - but honestly offering £100 off and a bottle of prosecco isn't going to change things. It probably may have been nicer to give us complimentary toast instead of charging £20 for slices of toasted bread that I requested when my son threw up and couldn't eat much else. Overall, very very disappointing.

The staff were very helpful in answering any questions or providing directions. Grateful for the shuttle service to/from the train station!

We were given a very large room with kitchenette and balcony with a fabulous view of Lake Lugano. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The grounds, pool, and hot tub/jacuzzi areas were also very large, clean, and well-appointed. Breakfast was one of the best we have had: eggs, espresso, champagne, bread, meats, cheese, Pellegrino, tea, fruit, yoghurt, etc. All overlooking Lake Lugano. Getting to the hotel from the train station was just a short bus ride away. We would definitely stay here again!

Check in was rushed; consequently we did not get pertinent information and had to seek that out later. The room was dirty. There was a lot of mold in the bathroom, in the grout lines. The room was noisy - there was construction going on in the facility somewhere near our room. When we told management about the noise, they did stop it. The window leaked when it rained, resulting in a big puddle on the floor, which could easily have caused a slip and fall. Several of the floorboards were loose and raised up, causing a tripping hazard. Those boards had sharp edges which could have resulted in cuts on our feet.
Breakfast was wonderful! The shuttle service from and to the train station was efficient and much appreciated. Most of the staff was helpful and courteous.
The views from the property were great!

The staff was fantastic and very helpful. The property is older and while they are trying, it could really use a good scrubbing and a fresh coat of paint. But overall it wasn’t too bad.

The hotel is situated high above the lake so offers incredible views and is really peaceful. Although this means a steep 15-minute walk to the lake and town it is worth it. The swimming pools are magnificent and the restaurant offered delicious and original (if very expensive) food.

This is an absolutely beautiful property, with a gorgeous view over Lugano. The infinity pool was delightful after a day of sightseeing during the heatwave. Breakfast was delicious and the setting can't be beat. Our room was so spacious and quiet! We loved our time at Villa Sassa and will definitely return.

Beautiful location, we booked a room with a terrace which overlooked the lake and the mountains. Bed was a little hard but we asked for a pillow top and got it. Also asked for a large bathrobe and gor it. Room has a teapot so if you ask for teabags and coffee they will bring it to you. Parking is on-site and was only $15 per night with in and our privileges. Breakfast was great. Location of the hotel provides stunning views of the lake and the mountains. Pool was very nice too, always enough tanning beds. Overall great hotel, cant wait to go back.

The best part of Villa Sassa is that it’s quiet and relaxing. The service is very friendly. I love that there was a free hotel shuttle to the train station.

We had a terrible check in experience
We arrived in the extremely hot weather to face with the staff we have to upgrade and pay 140 francs for the two kids
We actually booked a suit with big area to have a convenient room
However the hotel wanted us to pay extra for the same booked room
After negotiations we payed 70 francs extra
Rather than this situation, the hotel is lovely, the manager Valentina was trying to support everything
The pool, the view were fantastic

THE ROOM IS BIG AND CLEAN, THE FRONT DESK STAFF WAS FRIENDLY, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO COFFEE PROVIDED, WHICH IS GENERALLY A MUST, SPECIALLY WITH THE HIGH PRICE OF THE ROOM.
