Great place and service

Room had an unpleasant ‘dirty diaper’ smell. Hotel itself is a quirky boutique feel. Down side is breakfast is 22€ per person. Bar prices are likewise high. Best to walk a couple of meters off site to eat.

It was what I expected

Very nice hotel with great atmosphere. A shame that the rooftop bar wasn’t open - even though the weather was nice.

Great area downstairs, modern with a good bar area. Rooms need some love. Sauna area limited to one couple at a time but it want checked prior to our visit. Water heater was off, jugs of water empty, dirty cups from previous guests. Good location for getting around. Staff on reception friendly and helpful.

Great location, service and vibe

Full points for cleanliness, that is always my top one for any hotel. Room was ok size with large window which was important as for some reason the hotel is dark theme and all areas are pretty dark and not enough light. When I went for dinner I had to use torch on my phone to read the menu. Internet was not great and it was hit and miss as connection kept getting dropped. I had to do some urgent work and had to use hotspot from my phone. Restaurant was great and food was good quality and reasonably priced. I can’t say same about pricing of breakfast at 21.50 euros.

The entire hotel was quite warm. I was unable to turn the temperature down in my room, and opening a window at night was not an option due to the street noise, thus I was unable to get much sleep the first night. They gave me a room facing the lake the second night, which reduced street noise, but it was still very warm in my room. Staff very nice, drinks at the bar were very good. The free jaguar rental is nice, but be sure to get a card to open the garage gate.

I loved my stay. The staff was super friendly and the sauna was a welcomed delight. The WiFi works really well and the decor is lovely. My only complaint was the carpet in my room (gross). I would stay here again if I find myself in Hamburg.

This was my second stay. Overall lovely hotel with polite staff. However we encountered a delayed check in by almost an hour which is always annoying after you’ve been traveling. The worst part of our 3 night stay was NO WiFi in the corner 1st floor Junior Suite. And I don’t mean spotty I mean ZERO WiFi. After mentioning it over the few days with no real solution from other staff it was only the clerk at check out who acknowledged the ongoing problem. Disappointed to receive no compensation. In 2019 no WiFi is a big problem. A positive was that we were traveling with our 2 dogs and they we received with 2 cozy beds in our room with welcome cookies. All that for 30euros a night x 2=60 euros a day. A little bit of a money grab in my opinion.

Stylish modern clean hotel. Staff were so friendly and attentive. They also have 2 guest cars available to use.

The checking in process was smooth, we requested to be on the same floor as our friends and they were accommodating. Room and Bathroom - clean. Breakfast is expensive.

Great location--10 minute walk or quick ride from the Central Station, which is also a great place to do some shopping and grab a meal any time of the day. Close to gay nightlife in Hamburg. Room was okay for the price. Nicely decorated and finished out. I paid for a king room even though I was traveling solo because I like a big bed and extra space. The bed was fine. Not much extra space in the room, and the seating was limited to a small chair in the corner and an upholstered bench tucked under the desk/table across from the bed. There is a wide window sill, and they have pillows on that to make it look like a seating area, but it's really not unless you are under 100 pounds or a twelve year old. The window opened, which I love, but on the second floor--third floor in the U.S.--I could clearly hear conversations from folks sitting out at the street level bar, which went on until after 2 a.m. some days. The staff were very efficient on check-in, but didn't greet me or even make eye-contact when I passed them by exiting and entering, which I did several times a day over the three nights I stayed. I understand German reserve, but those in the hospitality industry need to be more approachable and welcoming. I'm torn about recommending this hotel. It is a great location, but they could be so much better if the staff and management cared and interacted with their customers.

Sometimes I send a note with my Expedia reservation to the hotel about what I need for my room. Simple requests; Firm pillows and 2 liters of water. When I check in at 10 PM, It was not there because they haven't read that msg, and they could not provide the pillow for the first night because the people who can be able to provide the pillows was already left. The second night they found something that mediocre. I gave up asking after. Design of the room is little bit run down. The carpet looks not right in the room. Had a feeling they try too hard to have cool design feeling but have to admit the experience was not good enough, other George hotels were more successful than this one. The restaurant was nice.

Excellent hotel in a great part of the city lovely staff

This is our second stay at The George and it will not be our last! This hotel with a quirky ambiance that works well - where tradition meets modern - very friendly and helpful staff - excellent restaurant - super location - perfect.

We had a most enjoyable few days in this hotel. It's situated in a lovely area; with the Lange Reihe on its doorstep. Our M room was extremely comfortable as was the bed which gave us a great night's sleep. It's small balcony overlooked some offices, but they did not make the room any less bright. Almost all the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The Musack in the bar was a bit too loud for easy conversation. Howevr, ther's a pleasant "sit-ooterie" out front.

This is a good hotel; well situated in the St George area of Hamburg, smart, some good facilities too. Aside from the requisite low lighting, I wouldn't go so far as to categorise it at boutique although those running it may. It claims to have a British theme but, aside from a few union flag cushions here and there, it's difficult to see why. So, smart, in a good position yet, I didn't enjoy my five night stay to the point that I would recommend the place. The reasons, well they seem quite petty even to me. Combined, they made an impact. No internal locks on the door. A poor selection of refreshments and a kettle you needed to remove from the cupboard each time. Nasty hot chocolate too! Low quality television with a dreadful selection of channels. Not movies even. Appalling broadband. Yes, it's free but it's unusable at times. I tried to work using it but it was hopeless. The cleaner kept twisting the shower around each day as well as over-riding the thermostat so that the water was scalding. No single light switch to turn off the lights. Finally, the bar hosted a themed evening one night which was loud enough to pulsate through to the third floor. When I complained I was simply told "we're sorry, it's not normally that loud".
