Our room was very spacious and on the first floor. We even had a balcony at the other end of the room. The pool was small and a disabled person in our party could not get in it because there were no handrails. The setting was up in the mountains north of Alajuela and the air was fresh at night. We will return to this hotel because it is not far from the airport.

Absolute worst experience I've had in thirty years! Booked a "family" room that showed a king, double and a twin....arrived at 11pm to find a dormitory room w bunks(w double on bottom) down a dingy hallway. When I complained there was a VERY ugly exchange w a second man obviously there for muscle....warning me to be careful or else.....Needless to say, we left....and booked a true family room at Rosa de las Americas.....clean, comfortable and SAFE

We were a group of family & friends travelling together and this was a great find for us to be able to get clean, comfortable, safe, and affordable rooms at the same property during the high season. It is conveniently located between sought after tourist locations (like Poas and La Paz, etc), but still in town. We appreciated the restaurant & bar so we could relax after a day of sightseeing back at our property. Wifi is a struggle in general in CR because of the volcanic mountains, but our connection here was one our better experiences for bandwidth and speed. The photos are of nearby attractions like la Paz and Poas. Last, I am unclear if they can accommodate all the time, but they even let us leave our luggage while sightseeing after our checkout so we didn't have to worry about our rental car getting broken into! This staff and property were one of our favorite stays.

Stayed overnight because I needed to be close to airport. The price was great for what you get. Owner went above and beyond for us.

I was very impressed with the people that were in charge. Would definitely recommend this place to all my friends.

We were there over night. We paid an uber to drive us there. It was around $5. We didn't stay long, so I can't say much. Great service though.

Great price if you're just looking for a place to spend the night in. Super close to the Poas Volcano, only 50 min away from downtown San Jose, the receptionists are super friendly. The guy who works the night shift helped us out a lot. We checked out at 3 30 am, he even came to knock on our door at 3 10 am to make sure we were awake so we wouldn't miss our flight.
WiFi worked great
Room and hotel are kept clean
No AC in our room but they have nice weather all year round sof you don't need it.
Hot water worked
No TV, unless you reserve a room with TV.
No pool
I would stay there if I ever go back and I do recommend it

Hi,
I'm a Canadian tourist on vacations with my wife. The hotel owner charged my credit card for unauthorized transactions. I had to disclose everything to the master card fraud department and it is under investigation.

First off, let me recommend, to any and all travelers, that they AVOID entry to Costa Rica at all costs. I have been to more than 80 countries, and found, during my short visits, that Costa Ricans are consistently devious and difficult to deal with. There is a tremendous amount of theft and petty crime which I've never experienced anywhere else in the world. Nevertheless, if you MUST be in Costa Rica, as I had to be for a brief 20 hour transit from Guatemala to Panama, then you can't do better than Villa Pacande. The key is that the owners are not Costa Rican but from Spain, and they are helpful, really going out of their way to ensure comfort and a pleasant stay for guests. Unfortunately, my rental car was broken into while parked in San Jose, but Mark, the manager of Villa Pacande, lent a hand in getting my life back in order by allowing me to use the computer at the hotel and providing transportation to the airport. He also assisted a Canadian couple that was staying at Villa Pacande, victims of a separate robbery on the same day.
Besides Mark's generally great attitude, the rural setting is beautiful, peaceful, and, best of all, close to the airport so that you can escape from the Costa Rican people as soon as possible. The dog, Luna, is one of the best behaved animals I have ever come across. Rooms are comfortable, although Air Conditioning would be a plus, however for most people it isn't necessary since the altitude and location away from the city ensure cool nights.

Marc at the front desk was very helpful. The email reaction time was within minutes. This is a great hotel for backpackers and younger travelers. The restaurant in the courtyard was convenient. Very nice people.

Very friendly owners, two playful cats and one sleepy dog. They served fresh fruit and coffee for breakfast, the room had a tv and private bathroom, the towels were free, and there were rocking chairs and outdoor seating areas. I'd go there again!
